I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a visit to Iceland. When we turned up it looked a bit rundown and not like a hotel at all. We used the code on the door to check in and it worked perfectly fine. Inside the hotel it was very clean and tidy. The room was surprisingly nice with a large king size bed, a sofa and a single bed. Our room was upstairs and looked over views of the fields, mountains and we could see skogerfoss waterfall in the distance. Our room was classed as a deluxe room, so I’m not sure what the downstairs rooms were like. We had a large tv with YouTube and Netflix apps and nice bathroom. The drains did smell of sulphur, but this is Iceland. Towels and bathrobes were provided, there was also a hairdryer and shower gel dispenser on the wall.

There was a hot tub and sauna outside, but it all looked a bit messy outside. The hot tub was nice and hot, but only had one jet….so not much of a hot tub. There was a drinks machine in the hall way which was free to use. Lovely hot chocolates, Various coffees and teas. Breakfast was included and consisted of breads, cold meats, cheese, Skye yoghurt, cereals, fruits, juices, bacon and scrambled eggs. It’s well as carrot cake, chocolate brownies and toast. We really enjoyed breakfast, which was on from 8am-10am.

The hotel is owned by EJ hotels who also own skogerfoss hotel right next to the waterfall. It’s just a 5 minute walk away and if you have any problems you can go to reception here. You can also get lunch and dinner at their restaurant. We had dinner there and it was lovely.

I would definitely stay here again, very quiet, clean and convenient for visiting the south of Iceland.

The hotel is next to the Skógafoss waterfall, we followed a route that the person recommended to stay there, but after we got to know the region we would have stopped in Vik (it has a much better structure, more hotel options and is very close, a half hour walk on the road). The hotel itself is OK, nothing special, and for the price we expected at least a reception (this is another one of those self check-in and check-out hotels in Iceland, we didn't like it at all, you can't speak to anyone to ask questions or request any assistance). The positive points include the breakfast (paid extra, but it was worth it), the room, which is spacious and comfortable, the location (a quiet place, without noise) and the convenience of being next to the waterfall, which is one of the most famous trails in Iceland (if you want to spend more time exploring the Skógaá river trail, which is super cool).

Hotel Skoga by EJ is in a small community located next to the Skogafoss waterfall. The hotel is self check-in, which we don't like, but it went well. The room was nice and quiet. The included breakfast was nice with just 2 hot choices, and the all-day coffee and tea in the entry was a nice benefit. There was no common area to sit and enjoy that cup other than the breakfast dining room, but we couldn't find the lights. The hot tub was clean and worked well and they give you a robe to stroll in & out in your swim suit. We met more than one guest who couldn't figure out the # sign was necessary to enter their room code. There is a co-owned hotel nearby which offered a full restaurant with a view of the waterfall. We enjoyed dinner there, but the dining high point would have been the fish & chips food truck next to our hotel if we had come back at lunch.
