Detailed Reviews
This is a super location nestled next to a beautiful waterfall now far from Vik. Hostel kitchen ok and looks like showers recently updated. Main complaint is the linen - bad pillow, thin ancient quilt and threadbare cover. No real excuse for this - it all needs updating. So - could be a great hostel with some care and attention

Excellent location, right next to the waterfall but unfortunately my family and I had to share a room with 4 other strangers since they was no more individual rooms available at the time of booking.
I must say it was an all-new experience, but not sure if I will do it again,
The place is ok, but not wen you’re traveling as a family.

Although Iceland is generally very expensive, to charge 126 EUR for a very basic room with shared bathroom facilities is a bit excessive. Every time someone entered the building all the rooms would shake and the WiFi basically didn't work. The showers had definitely seen better days.
Pluses were proximity to the Skógafoss waterfall and a decent-ish restaurant on the premises. Parking was very easy and it was a doddle to find.

Booked this hostel minutes away, cheap and was close to the Skogar falls. Since we arrived at night, it was pitch black and could hardly find this place (even with GPS). Room was fairly small, basically a bunk with a small desk and a sink. We were so tired, it didn't matter since we went straight to sleep. It was slow season so not many people, I think there were 3 other ppl staying in the dorm across the hall. Nice and quiet.
Kitchen and eating area was spacious, lots of pots and utensils to use. There was a living area with games and little toys for kids. Kiddo had a good time playing with it.
Since there was five of us staying in the hostel, it didn't seem crowded. I could see how people complained about not having enough bathrooms when the hostel is full. But we were happy we always had access to bath/showers. It is a risk to take when going during high season.
The surprise was when the sun came out and we saw the most beautiful waterfall ever right behind the hostel. Great location as Skogar Falls was magnificient!

+GREAT LOCATION: right next to Skogafoss.
+24/7 check in.
+KITCHEN: clean kitchen with all the necessary amenities.
-The room itself looked like a prison cell. Felt so weird being in it.
-Not enough bathrooms and showers for so many people.
-KITCHEN: we planned to cook there. Once I entered the kitchen... NOPE. Smelled as if somebody has died in there. We thought the smell was from somebody who cooked before us, but nope, the smell was the same the next morning even though the windows were open all night. I couldn't bear the smell, so decided to go back to the room and eat some snacks there.
-STAFF: one lady from the staff was rude. We were walking around, checking where everything was as we just arrived. Suddenly a lady approached us and kept asking if we left that and that (pointed at some stuff on the table). We said no. She kept the bitchy face on and started taking pictures of a group of people (who were in the kitchen before us) who were playing outside. What the hell?
Even though the location is great, it's not worth spending your money here. The hostel needs to start spending the money they get from guests on actually improving the hostel. Would not recommend this place to anybody.

I have not stayed in many hostels but I really enjoyed our stay here. Can't remember what we paid but the facilities were great. Very nice kitchen area, nice shared bathroom and good room and bed. No complaints. Was very conveniently located for the Fimm hike, just a couple hundred meters from the falls. We had supper watching the falls.

Last minute booking !
The place is nicely located right beside Skogarfoss.
The facilities (kitchen and dining room) are good. Sanitary facilities are correct but there are not so many toilets and showers compared to the number of beds.
The room I got was very simple. Got the last free bed in the middle of the room. And the comfort was correct.
But all places were clean and the guy at the reception desk was friendly !

Quite expensive for the facilities that were there but not much choice in the South of Iceland so we stayed here. Location was good as we were looking for somewhere to stay on the way down to Vik. Kitchen was a good size and allowed us to cook our own meals to save money. Room was basic and small but did the job. Location was amazing as it was literally next to Skogafoss waterfall!

There is no other better way of staying then to to stay right behind a gorgeous falls. Hostel Skogar was an ideal stay in Skogar and i am extremely happy that we stayed here. We were welcomed by a gentleman who was not so friendly and got on right to his job. (But the person in the morning in reception desk was extremely friendly). Our room was not very big but just enough and cozy. Our beds were comfortable, one of the best in Iceland and a sink in the room adds so much convenience.
There is big kitchen with all the amenities possible. There is also a common area to get comfortable. Their are about 9 rooms and 1 room with 3 dormitory. 4 Showers and 2 Bathroom. 2 washing machine to do your laundry for an additional price. The whole property was neat and tidy. Extra towels and hair dryer available at reception. They have a centralized heating system.
Skogar falls is 100 meters walk and walkable distance to Skogar museum.
There check out time is 10 AM and they are pretty loud about it in the whole hostel :)
We loved our stay and would definitely recommend to my fellow travelers. Cheers

Overall I was a bit disappointed. We stayed there for 2 nights. Location is fantastic, you cannot fault that. Great parking area as well.
The positives:
The kitchen area is big enough for all guests, with 2 fridges to use. The showers are very nice, good hot water.
The negatives:
My main criticisms are about the upkeep of the hostel, the room itself, and the noise levels. The hostel feels very dated... we had a bunk beds room, which was very very small, and right next to the kitchen. Which means we were kept up late by people who were having dinner late, and woken up very early by people leaving. The doors keep banging all the time to close, making it the noisiest place we stayed in in Iceland. Plan for some earplugs if you want to stay there.
Overall, it's a hostel in a great location, but really overpriced for the facilities.

Yes, they do have private room with two twin beds. For me it came out to 97 euros when I went during the week day in May
