Detailed Reviews
I've stayed here on two separate trips to Iceland (the first Oct 2018, then again in Nov 2019). In 2018 I'd made a reservation prior to arriving in the country and at that time there was a young lady at the front desk, Lorraine. She had the sweetest demeanour and I remember being surprised to meet a native Spanish speaker living in Iceland. Both times I stayed in the dorm room (if I recall correctly it's 10 beds). Highlights: the place is immaculate - bed linens, showers, common kitchen dining area. I especially enjoyed hanging out on the sofa adjacent to the dining area.
The second trip in 2019 had a different scenario as I got caught in one hell of a rainstorm, such that my small rental began to shake while driving on Route 1 (the Ring Road). Realizing it would be wiser & safer to find a place to stay I remembered that Nice Hostel was nearby. Luckily for me they had plenty of availability. This time there was a young gentleman at reception (I forget his name, but remember he told me he's from Romania). The kindest demeanour..he saw I was a bit rattled when I entered & removed my shoes. He offered to heat up some homemade soup that was still available.
I've stayed in countless hostels over the past few years and Nice Hostel ranks among the top of them. Keep it up guys. Takk a hundred times over. :)

This was the perfect place for us to stay for 3 nights on our recent trip. Our beds & room were very comfortable. We shared a bathroom that was kept very clean.. Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate & tea were available all day. There was a welcome cake every day. At the breakfast buffet, the food was frequently replenished. There was a small kitchen upstairs for guests to use & store their food. The young Italian lady was very cheerful & helpful. Her enthusiasm never wained even as we heard her welcome the tenth visitor of the day. Our small group was a bit over 70 years old, one lady had never stayed in a hostel. She was very impressed. This was more like a small hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to friends. We never saw or heard the grumpy gentleman that a few earlier reviews referred to.

Paolo (?) was very friendly and check in was very smooth and easy. We also ate here and the lamb soup was good as were the pizzas which our kids ate.
Room for 4 was clean and very spacious, probably the biggest we had during our 2 weeks of travel in Iceland. Oh and the coffee is complimentary to guests at all times, special mention was that it was good coffee, which we noticed wasn't the norm in Iceland.
Great location to Seljafoss, one of our favourite waterfalls in Iceland. Also a short drive to the ferry to Vestmannaeyjar islands or to Vik's Black sand beach.
Thank you again for your hospitality!

The place is unequivocally nice, well-maintained, clean and cozy. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the person who was in charge of welcoming guests (I am talking about August 2022, I don't know if he is still there). At first he seemed nice and accommodating, then he turned out to be definitely hostile and very annoyed by our presence. Aside from his constantly pissed off expression, when it came time to serve breakfast he acted in a brusque and unfriendly manner, and as he was bringing a tray of doughnuts to the buffet table, he noticed how crowded it was and brought them back, without serving them. I realize that a mass of noisy tourists is quite unpleasant but, man, if you can't handle it, change your business.

This is a very nice hostel, maybe the best we experienced in Iceland.
We stayed in the dorm.
What we liked the most was the cleanness and the very well organised public spaces.
The dorm was large and space; only remark, the mattresses are too thin and I found them uncomfortable (I am 1.79 x 81Kg).

One of the best hostels in Iceland! Currently managed by Davide and Lucia who are perfect hosts and amazing persons. Really clean and confortable rooms.
It’s the ideal place to visit the south coast of Island from Reykjavik to Vik and it’s very close to wonderfull waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Gljúfrabúi.

Our best stay in Iceland. The hosts are super friendly, everything is really clean and the location is amazing. They also offer a nice breakfast (also glutenfree, but no eggs :-)) prepared by their awesome volunteer. Most important, we got to see the Northern Lights there, which was amazing! All in all, this was an experience we will never forget. You can notice that Lucia and Davide put a lot of love into their hostel. We will definitely come back one day!

We stayed one night in this cute hostel.
Let's start from the outside: a beautiful waterfall in the background of the hostel, sheep grazing in the park, peace and tranquility.
We immediately felt at home. Helpful and very welcoming staff, rooms and bathrooms spotless and tidy. We were greeted with a welcome apple pie (delicious) and hot drinks.
We had dinner in the hostel and the soups were delicious!!
Not least the breakfast, complete and very good. The environments are young, well furnished and welcoming!
This hostel will remain in our hearts!
Super recommended to everyone

Perfect sanctuary! This hostel was so, so perfect. Very friendly, very clean and smart and seemingly quite new, great food, great atmosphere, fantastic manager and staff. Good value. Please stay here you won’t regret it! I’d definitely stay again.

This was by far the best stay we had in Iceland. They were so welcoming and the facilities were really excellent. Clean and very nice and comfortable, it felt like we were at home and the staff went to considerably effort to make you feel welcome. Also what an amazing location! A massive waterfall right behind!!
