Detailed Reviews
Really basic hotel in the middle of nowhere but convenient to skogafoss waterfalls. Breakfast basic and 95% salty, dinner very expensive basic quality
Our room was very basic and basic two-bed with small bathroom that regularly flooded when showering. Hair dryer on request. Bathroom cleaning not done even though we stayed two nights. Unfortunately, the hotel staff although really very nice, are not local, so they are not in a position to give directions to particular places

After booking our triple room for 2 nights, I read a lot of very bad reviews and was seriously considering cancellation.
However, the prices of other places were just as high, so I hoped for the best.
Upon our arrival, a nice young man checked us in. The view of the mountains and the distinct ROCK was astounding!
Our room was small, but clean and at twilight there certainly were insects trying to get in. Suggest the hotel put up a window screen?
But, we were relieved not to have bed bugs and all the other horrors reported by others. The bathroom was simple, and the heated water was slow to arrive, but once it did, it's fine.
Free flow hot drinks FOC was appreciated.
Breakfast was good.
Dinner was priced high and obviously not made by pros. But a beautiful Rainbow and view made up for it.
Location Location! Amazing to be on the sane grounds with the historical and yet mythical Drangurinn, next to Skogarfoss and Kvernufoss, half hour drive to Dyrholay and Vik - and Icelandic horses everywhere.
We loved our stay!

Great location on the way to Vik, on a beautiful property. We enjoyed the lobby lounge where we played games as a family. The restaurant was excellent, and they were accommodating to us when we were leaving for an early morning outing - they gave us our breakfast to go. The only issues we had were that it was hot in the room, and the pullout bed was not comfortable for adults. The price was very good when you factor in how expensive breakfast is in Iceland and this was a very nice European breakfast.

What a shame? This is what we get for $300.
1) A room with dirty floor, bed on which you can feel the springs and make noises. A plain room with just 3 single bed. No fan/AC
2) The smallest sink that you have ever seen, shower without shower curtain or mat. Soap dispenser not working. No shampoo or anything else. Broken bathroom door handle
3) No hand towel
4) A room with a door that starts shaking in the morning in a earthquake style. This is when someone else opens or closes the other doors.
5) Breakfast area with chipped cups
Good- Nice/helfull staff and decent breakfast.
What a ripoff!! We stayed here because we could not find anything else in the area.

+1
My family room is spacious, comes with comfortable beddings, fast wifi and strong shower. There is no kettle in the room so you have to share the kettle with 10 other rooms located in the same building. Breakfast is pretty decent though with hot sausages, scrambled eggs and the usual cold cuts, cereal etc. Overall this is a very convenient overnight spot during the road trip.

If we had had the choice, we wouldn't have stayed in this hotel!
Rooms poorly equipped, no double bed, toilet paper from dispensers, staff in sweatpants & uninterested, breakfast bad, walls as thin as paper, dinner OK but overpriced. All in all, super bad. Because of the thin walls, you can hear everything!
A renovation or refresh of the furniture and walls to bring them up to date wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Of all the hotels we stayed over 11 nights, this hotel was the most average. On the plus side, the reception-lobby area has a lovely sitting area for complimentary tea, coffee and cocoa. Our room was relatively large. Convenient to Skógafoss (great hiking) and Skógar Folk Museum (not to be missed). On the negative side, large tour groups stay at this hotel, which made it noisy. The shower was tepid (perhaps just ours?). While the dining area has wonderful views, the food for breakfast and dinner is meh. Recommend dinner down the road at Gamla fjósið.
Don't forget to fill up with petrol/gasoline; nearest petrol/gas station is Vik.

Structure dispersed in the Icelandic countryside, little maintained.
It does not offer the reception service. Before checking in, the guest receives an email indicating the access code to their room.
We had to ask to change rooms. In the first room assigned to us it was impossible to stay because of the strong smell of sewer that came from sink and shower.
The second room did not have this problem but it was literally a hole. As soon as we entered we found a giant spider on the curtains.
Rooms without soundproofing, without TV and with dirty curtains.
In the rooms there is no shower tray but only the drain grid.
Breakfast no big deal.

There is more than one building and we were in one behind the main one. We were the furthest room and had a great view of the pastures and sheep. The room was large, simple, clean. No TV. No coffee.
Restaurant did not open until 7:30. Drink station in Lobby did not have any refreshments, hot water or coffee, in the morning. Only last night’s lukewarm water.

During our stay, we found the hotel staff to be exceptionally accommodating, particularly Kate at the reception. She was incredibly supportive and always available to assist with any issues my friend and I encountered. Her readiness to help truly enhanced our experience.
