Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our one night stay at Bru Guesthouse in late December. The individual cottages are a great idea, and great way to have privacy. They are relatively small, just like they look in the pictures. A few km off the ring road on good gravel roads. No problem to get to. Self-check in anytime (key in lockbox). It is so remote (away from city, away from road), it would be a great spot to see the Northern Lights...if it wasn’t cloudy. Great heat. Limited hot water, but the 3 of us had no problem (we split up showers between mornings and evenings and took relatively fast showers...as would be true of most Icelandic accommodations outside Reykjavík). This was the most expensive place we stayed on our 10 day Iceland trip, but not tremendously more. Iceland is expensive throughout.

We stayed here a total of three nights, a perfect location for viewing the northern lights (although unfortunately each night was very stormy during our stay), gorgeous views, and great kitchenette. Our hostess was very nice and accommodating. The place was clean and cozy. Highly recommend.

This series of wooden cubes is literally immersed in the silence and green Icelandic nature... from afar you can even see the Sejalandfoss waterfall!
They are small apartments with an external veranda and inside there is really nothing missing, especially in the small kitchen.
The view is very relaxing and in season I think you can see a wonderful aurora while lying comfortably in bed.
They can be reached via a dirt road of about 3km, which perhaps may not be so easy during the winter period.
Go shopping and get food supplies because there is really nothing inside and there are no common areas (the key is in a drawer outside)
Super recommended!

What a great experience. The communication between the stay was great, reaching out to me in advance to confirm items but also quick to respond. The stay had a charging outlet so we could charge our vehicle. Plenty of heating accessories to keep us warm, both in the bathroom but in the main living quarters. Anything that we could need from face towels, hot plate, electric water kettle to boil water, even robes to use. Extremely pleasant stay and tranquil stay. Location was great for watching the morning Sunrise. Loved it and would definitely recommend to stay here if anyone can.

The Cabin at the Bru Guesthouse was simply wonderful!
The location couldn't be better and the Cabin has an incredible peace and delightful view of the Icelandic landscape.
The cabin is very big, super comfy and the design is beautiful and very cozy. The bedroom and common spaces have a perfect, comfortable and super spacious structure. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom impeccable and functional!
The best part was the amazing view of the landscape!
We were very lucky and we could see the northern lights just outside the cabins, was magical!
We loved! Highly recommended, truly an amazing experience!

The Bru Guesthouse was absolutely charming! It is the perfect place to stay if traveling and sightseeing on the southern part of Iceland. You are within a few hours of magnificent waterfalls, the Vatnajokull glacier (3rd largest in the world) the charming town of Vik, the black sand beach, and the Jokulsarlon lagoon full of icebergs which is a MUST SEE!! We loved the Bru Guesthouse which was well appointed, has great Wi-Fi, and some of the most comfortable beds you will ever sleep on! The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need and overall the guesthouse is very clean and well cared for. I would be remiss if I did not mention that the view from the living room and deck is breathtaking. And a special shout-out to the owners who took the time to track me down after I absentmindedly left our passports behind by mistake.

Location: about 4 or 5 km on a gravel road from the main road - 15 minutes from Hvolsvollur where you can find shops and restaurants - 12 minutes from Seljalandsfoss (we could even see it from our cabin) - 30 minutes from Skogafoss and 55 minutes from Reynisfjara - 1 hour from Kerid Crater - all this makes it a perfect base to visit a beautifull part of Iceland
Check in: self check in with easy instructions and parking in front of the cabin
Cabin: when we arrived on a very cold and rainy September day, the cabin was warm and cosy and this was such a nice surprice. Plenty of space, great beds, good shower - everything we needed.
We did only stay for 1 night but I would not hesitate to return for a longer stay and use the cabin as a starting point for excursions.

We stayed one night in one of the bungalows, it had everything we needed, kettle, small dinner table, electric cooker, fridge. It is possible to cook a simple meal. Bath robes were provided as well, it felt like a plus. Peaceful surroundings. Small patio with two chairs. It was easy to self-check-in.

The superior cabins are perfect for four people. Nicely furnished and well equipped. Comfortable bed and bedding (the sofa bed is very firm which might not suit everyone). We loved the views and were lucky enough to have good weather and to be able to sit on the deck. It was very peaceful and we slept very well.
We enjoyed cooking and eating at the cabin one night and went to Eldsto Art café in Hvosvollur (15 min drive) the next.
We could see and visited Seljalandsfoss from the cabin. We also visited Skogafoss and the Skogar museum whilst staying there.
It was a wonderful place to stay and would love to stay there again!
The host was very helpful and check-in very easy.

We booked a one night stay at Brú Guesthouse as it seemed like a novel experience during our stay in South Iceland. The guesthouse comprises a string of fully equipped cottages off Þjóðvegur 1 Close to Hvolsvöllur. We were given full instructions beforehand of how to get the cottage and also how to obtain the key.
Our standard cottage was of reasonable size but the remarkable thing was the space saving design which meant that there was a vast array of facilities all cleverly accessible without impinging on space within the cottage.
The floor to ceiling windows afforded incredible views of the snowy landscape and there was a lovely terrace but would be more appreciated in the warmer months. There are some very interesting and utterly unique experiences to be had whilst visiting Iceland and staying at Bru Cottages is on that list of unique experiences. Highly recommended.

I think so yes since there are a number of people living there. When you rent a car the tires are equipped with spikes wich allow you to go to more difficult accesable places.
