Detailed Reviews
The room is simple but definitely adequate, and the location and view are outstanding. Clean and quiet with a nice area to sit out. Dining in nearby Hella. Enjoyed 2 nights here and especially watching the sun set over the river. The lock is a bit tricky, you do need to turn the handle UP to use it.

We decided to stay one night in Hella to break up the long driving from Hofn to Reykjavik. The cabins are close to the river and our room had a great view. Although they mentioned that there would be free wi-fi, we were not able to get it in our room. Someone said in another review that the internet didn't work on room 17. We were in room 11 and didn't work either. It was not a big deal, since we were there for just one night and wanted to enjoy the place. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included. All the communication was through email and they left the cabin open with the key inside. In one of the messages that I received from them, they mentioned that we could have breakfast in the fishing lodge nearby, but it was super expensive, so we decided not to. They were also able to accommodate my baby's needs and provided a crib in our room. One last point is that the hot water was limited since the water was heated by electricity. Overall, we had a good experience and this is a perfect option if you want something rustic and private.

We had a short stop over in Iceland and used the West Ranga Lodge as home base. With the Helka Volcano and the salmon river greeting us each morning, with the peace and quiet, I just loved it. Our package did not include breakfast and we did not see any staff. Everything was ready upon arrival and the door to our cottage was open with the key on the table along with restaurant and sightseeing suggestion listing. The Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle, Vik, Lava Tube and Crater were all easily doable from this location, along with many of the other great waterfalls - the glacial lake was a good drive (2.5-3 hours)... but well worth it as I didn't want to be hopping hotel/B&Bs. I would definitely stay here again!

+1
The most wonderful experience fishing for wild Atlantic salmon, in an unspoilt environment. West Ranga fished well with salmon to 10 lbs. Lodge accommodation very comfortable - good food, drink & pleasant staff.

This was our first stop on our trip going around the Ring Road in Iceland. We were greeted by a wonderful lady. I apologize i forgot her name. She was the fishing guide for the lodge. She showed us our room and also gave us information about what to see in the area. The lodge is in a beautiful valley with a river running through it. We had a great nights rest. The room was small but met our needs. We had a great nights rest. In the morning we met -Sorry forgot to write your name down. He was in charge of the hotel. We got more info on what to see in the area. We had a nice breakfast and hit the road to continue our adventure. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area in Iceland.

Really enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. The food was excellent, particularly the breakfast. Unusually for Iceland this hotel had both a hot and cold buffet at breakfast time and by the two waffle makers were carefully measured jugs of batter so you couldn't go wrong with making the most delicious instant waffles.
On our first night at dinner we were told that the north lights were showing so we went out onto the nearby balcony and saw a brief demonstration.
We could also sign to request a wake up call after midnight if the aurora borialis were to appear again.
Great stay and would highly recommend the Ranga

I visited Ranga ok a fishing trip and the staff was nice - BUT - on the fishing trips they organise no food was provided eventhough it was 9hrs between lunch and dinner which wasn't before 11pm. The rooms are OK, but pillows terrible and it is not possible to make the bedroom dark. The place has a good basis, but needs help from someone with hotel management experience to get the last touch.

It was a really but experience. We booked 5 rooms for 2 days. There were no one to receive us but we received a message that the rooms were going to be open and keys inside. In one of the rooms there was no key and we tried to contact the owner by phone and also thorough booking with no success. We also sent a claim by email. The second day at night we received the key so we couldnt indeed use the room to put our baggage. It was indeed worst, it was not possible to close the room when you are inside. I requested to not pay for this room but the answer was NO.
For sure I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

Came for salmon fishing and was nicely surprised with the lodge. Comfortable rooms with really good beds, nice relax areas and not the least a restaurant with gourmet food! Everything here is built around the salmon fishing, but other tourists would definitely also be able to enjoy this lovely place and the atmosphere.
Thanks for the nice couple of days!

Hella is a small town with not much there. We chose to stay here as I thought it was a nice place to break up our driving but I should have drive another half hour or so to a bigger town. This hotel is nice but not much there...
There is no one there managing it? All contact through email and the rooms are just left open for you. It has small cabin like rooms right by the river. It is right next to a larger fishing club hotel. If you want to fish in the river this is a great place to stay otherwise pretty dull....not even a TV.
Was clean an dcomfortbale thought....
