From the moment we entered this hotel, we fell in love with it, and every now and then we talk how we should return. I recommended this place to friends and colleagues, and some of them already went there and were just as impressed as I was.
The rooms are minimalistic, decorated with so much taste. It looks like there is nothing in the room, just clean space with unique views, and at the same time, there is literally everything that one may need.
Service was outstanding. Polite and friendly staff greets their guests at reception and assist to the best of their abilities.
We visited this hotel right after the border opened post-Covid, and there were not many guests. We had the private lagoon for ourselves and could enjoy it without anybody else around. The room that we booked was the one overlooking the moss, which was fantastic but then I saw the one with the small little lagoon that some rooms had, and when we asked whether we could move to such a room, we were given a key and not even charged for the better room.
We just loved the Silica hotel and will be back very soon!
Thank you for making our stay so special!

We booked the Silica Hotel/Lava restaurant package for 89k Krona to have a closer experience of Blue Lagoon. This package includes dinner at the Lava restaurant and Blue Lagoon visit, as well as unlimited use of the private lagoon at the Silica Hotel.

Our room had lava view. Some rooms have lagoon view which would have been better.

The price is not that bad for people who likes the thermal pool, considering that hotel of this quality would be worth US$300 per night in Reykjavik, dinner at Lava around US$150, and Blue Lagoon visit for two around US$100 per visit.

We enjoyed the private lagoon on Day 1 after checking in. There was unlimited use of the Silica face mask, and it was not crowded.

The dinner at Lava Restaurant was very good. Food and service was excellent.

The breakfast in Silica Hotel was very good. We had a later checkout (12 noon), and went to Blue Lagoon after breakfast. They provided a shuttle bus service, took just a few minutes. The Blue Lagoon is a lot nicer and bigger, but also a lot more crowded. Our package included the use of 3 face masks and one free drink each.

I also used the stay to visit the Volcano early in the morning (4am). It was a short trip from Silica Hotel to the Volcano hiking site.

Overall, it was a good experience.

Treated ourselves to a night here as the last night of our Icelandic trip. We booked the package that included a 4 course tasting menu at the Lava restaurant. It also included access to the Blue Lagoon and a free drink there. Although we visited the Blue Lagoon, we found the private pool at Silica much nicer. Yes it was smaller (but bigger than I imagined and plenty big enough) but its only available to hotel guests so it was much quieter and it has lovely squelchy soft white mud on the floor of the pool. There is a nice relaxation area and the changing rooms are nicer (none of the coach loads of people at the Blue Lagoon pool). You are given a robe and flip flops to use at Silica and then when you go to the Blue Lagoon you get a robe and towels there. We loved our Scandi minimalist room (room 5) with views of the lava field, a lovely shower and of course the Blue Lagoon show gel, shampoo etc. The weather was snowy so the path to the Blue Lagoon was shut and so we used the shuttle bus - which was very convenient - you just asked for it and it was there within 5 minutes or so. The staff were very helpful and we were pleasantly surprised to find our room was available even though it was only about 11.30 am when we arrived. We enjoyed our meal in the Lava restaurant and the breakfast at Silica was great. Although it was expensive (around £600 including dinner for two and breakfast) it was a lovely way to end our trip and I'd definitely do it again .

I booked a stay at Silica for the last two days of my trip to Iceland, which concluded yesterday. I had previously stayed at Silica in 2017, and when booking I considered upgrading to The Retreat for something new, but my previous visit had been so enjoyable that I decided to go with Silica again. I had also just spent two weeks in various hotels, small guesthouses, and cabins on the ring road, so I couldn't help but compare my stay at Silica with nights spent at other lodgings.

My room was facing the lava field and the Blue Lagoon in the distance. One of the first things I noticed when I entered my room is that the sheer curtains had been completely removed (the empty hooks were still on the track). This meant that in order to enjoy the lava rock/moss view, I had to have the blackout drapes open completely, which allowed other rooms perpendicular to to mine to see into my room. I also was not able to find any slippers in my room, which seemed like a strange oversight for a hotel at a spa. The floor can often be cold and slippers would have been welcome- all of the places I stayed on my trip had them except for Silica. The heating radiator also made a funny loud noise the first few hours I ran it, but after fiddling with the knob and adjusting it *just so* it stopped. And a final warning that I remembered from my 2017 stay: The water in the shower is intense, which is amazing, but sprays all over the bathroom with no easy way to clean it up. You must be very, very, VERY careful when walking on the tile floors, as they get incredibly slippery (both my husband and I had trouble with this- we are in our late 30's/early 40's).

The good: The staff that welcomed us were pleasant and professional. The hotel is so quiet and serene. The breakfast is great. The beds were the most comfortable of all of our other stays. And of course, the hotel lagoon is fantastic- I forgot how wonderful it was until I was in it, and then I wanted to stay there forever.

Overall Silica is a relaxing stay, but small details are overlooked that prevent it from being truly luxurious.

This is the ideal hotel from which to visit the blue lagoon but has many other plus points. The accommodation is perfect Nordic chic simple understated but but very modern and clean. It is more reasonable than staying at the Retreat at the Blue Lagoon.

Check-in was simple and quick and also very informative about the amenities and how to make the use of our time at the hotel. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Be prepared to get your luggage to your room without help. Not a problem for us though.

It would be nice for a hotel of this standard to be able to offer better lunch facilities other than snacks and panini sandwiches from the fridge but service was with a smile nonetheless. Dinner has to be taken at the restaurant available at the blue lagoon itself or at other restaurants nearby which would necessitate a taxi. Breakfast was excellent and probably the best of the three places we stayed at during our time in Iceland.

There is a useful shuttle that takes you to and from the blue lagoon on request if you do not wish to take the short walk across the lava field.

Our aim was to visit the blue lagoon and if you stay at this hotel you get premium access to the blue Lagoon which cuts on the queues and gives you a couple of drinks whilst you are there in the lagoon as well as a bathrobe and slippers. However I wish I done more research. The hotels private lagoon is better and more exclusive and I wish I’d known about the upgrade to use the facilities at the Retreat at the blue lagoon which is the more exclusive area. The blue lagoon is a great experience but you are in the water with hundreds of people and this does not add to the experience favourably.

Now that we have experienced the blue lagoon itself, next time I would be happy to stay here and use the hotel’s private lagoon facilities which are far more relaxing and open till later. Otherwise treat yourself to the ‘retreat experience at the blue lagoon’ and this would be worth the extra. Something for next time!

We stayed here for our last night in Iceland as it was my 21st birthday and it was just beautiful. Hotel even gave me a card and chocolate strawberries for my birthday! It was the perfect end to our busy week full of sight seeing and activities. You can’t check into the hotel till around 3pm. We arrived about mid day but reception held our luggage and we went to the main lagoon for the afternoon where we got a free drink at the swim up bar and free face masks as we were staying at the hotel. We had the best afternoon and came back and checked into our room what was beautiful! We had free welcome drinks and could also use the private lagoon at the silica which also had face masks too. My partner and I don’t like fancy food and the only restaurants are the ones at the main lagoon which we didn’t fancy and are very pricey so we ended up ordering a pizza, sat in our room and it was lovely! The breakfast in the morning was really good! The room is also full of all the blue lagoon products. One tip I would say is to soak your hair in conditioner and leave conditioner on your hair when in the lagoon as the water does dry it out! Honestly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and I hope to visit again one day!

We were greeted by Barbara who was so welcoming and warm. We also met Gabrielle who appears to run the reception desk with ease always jumping in when needed. The hotel is of great value for the
ULTIMATE experience. I highly recommend the Spa Retreat Experience as an add on to your room at Silica. You will never regret it! Don't waste your money on the restaurants at the Blue Lagoon. There are local places a short distance away like the Fish House and they pick you up for 1000 Kr each way. It's worth it Everything about our stay was beyond our expectations. Truly a very well run the romantic place. Asta is at the bar. She is the best. Takes photos, delivers your drink with a smile and is a great source of information like every bartender should be! Thanks Asta. Special thanks to Ester and Sara who answered my numerous questions and concerns!

Stayed here for two nights just after new year. Loved the location, the rooms and the Silica lagoon was great, not crowded and very relaxing. Entry to the Blue Lagoon was included, we were there during a storm which made it interesting but still great fun, really needed the saunas! The staff at the Silica were very helpful and more than happy to arrange transport between the restaurants, Blue Lagoon and airport.

We loved every moment of our stay here. The staff were very friendly and super accommodating to our scheduling changes. Our Retreat spa experience was so relaxing and luxurious. Our room at the Silica Hotel was not only beautiful and modern but also very clean and well appointed. The lights in the room could be brighter though. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature of the room was perfect, and we loved the radiant heat from the floors in the bathroom. A couple small things… The coffee maker did not work in our room so my husband asked in-person at the front desk for a cup of coffee to-go. I would have thought that it would be complimentary, but they charged him for it on the spot. Seems a little tacky for what seems to be a luxury hotel. The other thing that was weird is that you only have the choice of the blackout shades or nothing at all — would be nice to have some sheers so that your neighbors couldn’t see everything in your room. It would also be nice to have a small sauna or steam room on the silica hotel premises, instead of having to go to the main Blue Lagoon or Retreat. None of these things would keep us from visiting again — like I said, we loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Oh, and the breakfast was exceptional for a buffet style breakfast — easily the best we had at any hotel in Iceland.

BTW if you’re planning on eating at Moss…. It was ok, but not the most memorable taste-wise while we were in Iceland. I would suggest spending the money at Ox or Dill if you want a truly memorable tasting dinner experience while in Iceland. Not bad, just not my favorite Iceland dining experience. Still very good though!

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for four nights in early March, and it was wonderful. The staff is super helpful, and we were well taken care of from the moment we walked in the door.
We arrived around noon on a Thursday and our room was already ready, which was a big plus because we then could get changed and go to the hotels private lagoon.
The lagoon is wonderful and quiet, with few people, several times we had it all to ourselves. Because of this we did like the hotel lagoon much better than the large blue lagoon. You could bring drinks into the water and they also had the silica face mask that you could apply from large bowls on the side of the lagoon.
In the common area of the hotel they had comfortable chairs and blankets where you could sit in your bathrobe, relax and enjoy a drink or two.
The rooms are nicely decorated, spacious with a large bathroom, and a nice view of the lava rocks. The beds are comfortable.
Breakfast was very nice with a large variety of different foods.
The hotel did not serve any lunch or dinner which was something that we would have enjoyed, but the it was possible to buy sandwiches and other snacks from a refrigerator.
The hotel itself is very peaceful and is a nice place to spend time together and just relax! Would recommend this hotel for couples. We would love to come back someday.

We couldn’t choose either. In the end we went with mountain view. This was the right choice. You see the lagoon plenty, you don’t need to see it from your room. If you can see the lagoon, you can also see the people in the lagoon and they can see you. The mountain scape is spectacular, like the moon. The lagoon you see from the rooms, is not the real lagoon, you can not go in it at all. In all rooms, you are restricted to the small wooden balcony area to protect the landscape.
