Selected resort due to location and AC, but several disappointments. Received an unrenovated, ground floor unit with a view of the interior of island/resort with lanai <10’ feet from path to pool and close to smoking area in building that was among the furthest from the parking area. Lugging groceries and beach gear, approx 0.20 miles each way, was very inconvenient and happily a staff member with a cart assisted us on check out day. Check in was smooth, staff friendly, COVID was taken seriously, beds comfy and a broken toaster was quickly replaced. Used grill a few times only to discover on one occasion that a ‘helpful’ guest had shut it off because they had been unable to start it earlier and been convinced it was out of propane. This issue wasn’t the resorts fault, but perhaps some sign in at the grill that it was in use, preheated it on way to unit and returned in 5 min or so with food, would be helpful. I’m sensitive that the booking was during COVID, but the poor view/location was a real detraction. I’d likely go somewhere else if I returned to the Kona coast.…
We just got back from a family vacay. We had a great time. We were able to walk to where we did our manta ray excursion as it was just up the street. A beautiful golf course is next door as well. Shopping is close and we even enjoyed a nice meal at Sam Choy’s, next to the shopping plaza. A big plus for us was the very comfortable bed and the nice size of the unit.
My wife and I are currently staying here for a four night outer island getaway. We are staying in a very well equipped one bedroom that is meeting our needs. Very comfortable with the desired necessities. Short drive to a shopping center that has restaurants, a cinema, and a KTA grocery store. A longer drive gets you to Walmart, Costco, Target, Ross, etc. It’s a nice resort with swimming pools and hot tubs. Pretty quiet as there are not many guests probably due to the Covid. Grills are placed throughout the property. We’re happy and that’s all that counts. No room service but there’s a washer and dryer, as well as, a dish washer. Purchase groceries before checking in unless you plan to eat out all the time. No restaurant at the resort. The staff is low key which is a plus.
We had a two bedroom condo which is what we needed for our group of 5. The condo itself was outdated, but it appeared they were in the midst of construction. The area is very quite, and there is a nice bluff, Kualanui Point that you can walk to from the hotel, along with the bay below. There are a ton of pools, so you'll end up with a pool to yourself most of the time. It is a drive to the Kailua-Kona area which where most restaurants and shops are located. Nearby is a KTA grocery store, pizza restaurant, and Tavern. Being a drive away from those areas means this area is pretty quite. You'll sleep well! Also, having a kitchen and the ability to wash your clothes in Hawaii is nice. We looked at booking hotel rooms, but are glad we went the Condo route.
We loved this resort and it's relative remoteness from the business of Kailua-Kona, though which is only a short 10-15 minute drive away. Our lanai was quite private with a great view across the Kona Country Club golf course. The swimming pool / hot tub next to our building were never very busy, and often empty, but very pleasant to use. Even though there is a large covered parking area, there are no loading/unloading areas adjacent to your building, so you have to carry your luggage and groceries some distance, or have bell services help, but they are not always available depending on the time of day. That was the only negative we experienced. All in all, a very nice resort, friendly and helpful staff, and a very nice place to stay.0
