The Hawaiian Oasis B&B was the one place we stayed on our recent--and first--trip to Hawaii that we hadn't planned in advance, and what a wonderful decision it was! After a week and a half in Hawaii, we had planned to spend a few days in California on our way back home. (We'd been staying in the Volcanoes National Park.) As the Covid-19 pandemic increasingly affected the United States, we decided to stay on the Big Island for our last couple days before catching our flight home. In fact, we were celebrating my 60th birthday and the fact that we had managed to visit all 50 states. The Hawaiian Oasis B&B turned out to be the perfect place to celebrate my special day and conclude an altogether magical vacation. I spoke to the owners to be sure they were still accepting guests, and then I booked the Garden Suite. I received frequent texts from Nina, the innkeeper on site, updating me about the Covid-19-related precautions in addition to details about how to get there, where to park, etc. Nina greeted us upon arrival and showed us our room. It felt as though we were in a little tropical paradise, both secluded (the Garden Suite is truly in the garden) and connected to the wider world. The B&B is an easy drive to shops, restaurants, and attractions. The room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. As night fell, the sounds of the birds and frogs added to the tropical ambiance. (It sounded a bit like Jurassic Park, we joked--but in the best way!) As restaurant dining had become inadvisable, it was lovely to have the outdoor kitchen and pool area, where we could sit in the evening, sipping wine and eating takeout. We stayed for two nights and had the opportunity to enjoy two of Nina's fabulous breakfasts! The pink French toast was amazing! The local fruit was superb! And this non-coffee-drinker even liked the Kona coffee blend that Nina prepared! Everything was top-notch, including Nina's hygiene precautions in this pandemic situation. Nina and her husband, Tom, even made time to chat with us about our own dreams of running a bed & breakfast. Largely because of the Hawaiian Oasis B&B, I was able to fully enjoy my 60th birthday despite our change in plans. We visited the Pu‘ukoholā Heiau National Historic Site and came back to the B&B at the end of the day, to once again relax by the pool with our drinks and sandwiches. We found this bed and breakfast in a last-minute change of plans, but when we return to the Big Island some day, we will purposely make it part of the plan. I only hope that Nina and Tom will be there to greet us!

We like to stay at B&Bs because we feel closer to the locals and good chances to meet interesting people on the breakfast table. We have had stayed at many B&Bs in the last 20 years. My husband and I stayed at this beautiful place for four nights in the last week of August. We had the Aloha Suite. There are 2 beds in the room. One is king size, the other is a full size(or queen). Beds are comfortable. Linens are nice and soft. The best thing about this room is we woke with gorgeous view from our bed every morning. The room has air condition w extra charge of $15/day. We needed a/c because it was pretty hot even at night when we were there. There is a koi pond at the main entrance. I had taken several videos of these 15+ colorful koi fish. This blue top house is surrounded by lush palm trees, large brightly colored hibiscus flowers and some I don't even know their names. There are some flowers by the pool have nice fragrance. I liked the blue stained glass cross on the top of the main door. I really like the top-to-bottom mural in the living room. Overall the house is well decorated. In addition to the breath-taking view every morning we woke up to, we also had delicious breakfast everyday prepared by Nina. Like other reviews pointed out, Nina is an amazing cook. The main entree is different everyday. Everyday we also had the most fresh fruits. The sun ripen golden pineapple is super sweet and the Kona King mango simply the best mango I ever had! To make sure her guests have fresh local fruits, Nina goes to Farmers market. I can't say enough about Nina. She truly is an excellent host. She is warm. She is kind. She is intelligent. She is organized. She pays attention to details. She even remembers our little requests. She is very knowledgeable about activities. We really enjoyed our conversations with her. This property is like a hardware. Nina is an updated software. Two combined into a wonderful, smoothly running system. Property owners are lucky to have her. Thank you, Nina, for this unforgettable experience.

We stayed at Hawaiian Oasis B&B for three nights at the end of our Big Island vacation in July 2019. We were specifically looking for a quiet place to really relax after an active stretch. We also wanted it to be in more of a jungle type environment than what we previously experienced. You never know how B & Bs or any rental places are going to turn out but this experience was extremely positive. So here is what we found: • We got exactly the jungle type environment we were looking for and the grounds and house were immaculate. • The location, while feeling remote, was less remote than we expected. It was an easy short drive to the coast, restaurants, tour departure locations, shopping, the airport, and so on. • The breakfasts were fantastic (seriously Nina!!!). • The managing couple we’re extremely helpful in every way. • Additionally, the way in which the managers interacted with other guests (not just us) was endearing and really nice. It is obvious that the managers love what they do and care about the guests experience. • Air conditioning was available in our room (Aloha Suite) if we needed it. • The Internet worked great. If we return to the Big Island we may actually make this B&B our base. We would certainly not hesitate at all to give them our return business. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you Hawaiian Oasis.

My husband and I recently were on vacation on the Big Island. We wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast, and we saw this one had great reviews online. The place is so nice. It is kindof like you are in the middle of an arboretum. There are so many beautiful trees, plants, and flowers. It is managed by a couple named Tom and Nina. They are so nice! They texted us before we got there to welcome us. They showed us around and explained how everything worked around the property. Nina fixed yummy breakfasts every morning. I don't know how she thought of so many different ideas for breakfast. She also is very informative about things on the island (restaurants, beaches, luaus, etc.). They have a nice pool, and it is very quiet there. It is only about 7-8 minutes from downtown. It is kindof in the middle of a rainforest, so expect to see some insects. We would stay here again and would highly recommend it.
