French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

What a great stay we had at the Royal Sonesta! Upon arrival in our room which was on Bourbon Street we realized it was going to be very noisy, and I’m a light sleeper. We talked to a lady at the front desk, and she managed to find a courtyard room for us on the fifth floor

What a great property!! Elegant lobby, some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered from the valet to the front desk. Room was a good size with a balcony of the side street. Our friend's room was exceptionally small, and would not have been acceptable for me. Desire

I stayed here because it was the site of the conference I was attending. I will not return. I echo many others complaints: - Room was not clean and wasn’t cleaned every day that I was here. - Find the odd practice of sheets above and below duvet rather than a closed duvet

This was my first time to NOLA but this hotel seems to have the best location for someone who is looking to be apart of the action when it's time but away from the action when they want to also. I loved the accessibility of being near the beginning of all the bars and clubs on

Do the rooms have microwaves?
Dear Cindy, Thanks for your question. While our rooms do have fridges, microwaves are not standard. We do have a limited number available upon request and availability, so let us know if you'd like us to provide one for you. We also offer room service and have multiple restaurants and bars for your comfort and convenience. Come see us soon! Best, Royal Sonesta New Orleans

Can you tell me the temperature of the pool (in December)?
Hi. We were there at the end of October, and the temperatures outside were in the low to mid 80's. The pool was so warm that it was not refreshing, although I prefer that to cold water. I really cannot speak to how it will be in December. It will depend on how warm it is outside, as the temperatures outside warm the water.

I’m not a smoker but I did notice ashtrays on the balcony so I’m going to say yes, smoking is allowed on balconies.

"Get a room close to elevator so you can quickly go back to your room to use the bathroom"
"Decide on how noisy/colorful you want your night--you can get quiet or loud at this hotel, as expected."
