A very well designed, comfortable lodge with a cool laid back vibe underpinned by a professional slick service that had safety at the heart of the adventure sports. Boarderlands overlooks the river and is the perfect place to meet other travellers over a beer of chill with a book. Our guides were totally charming, thoughtful and good fun. The Boarlands experience is possibly more expensive than other local ; However we feel the service was worth paying for. Meeting one of the owner's and her daughter was delightful too. We understand that due to a new dam that has just been built that the intensity of the rapids will be reduced so do check regarding the white water rafting as it may not be as thrilling as it should. It's also worth checking if there are big school group's on site. There weren't any when we were there so it was very relaxed with greatnchilled music too.

We stayed here 3 nights & enjoyed ourselves immensely. The setting for Borderlands is perfect. The cabins are very comfortable & designed very aesthetically to get the most out of of nature. We could see fireflies dancing at night & would wake up to the beautiful sounds of the river below us & birds chirping in the morning.

Wade Campbell & his team have created this haven where you can enjoy various activities like white water rafting, kayaking, camping & various other adventure sports with the emphasis on ‘safety first’. Everything has been well thought through & we felt we were in very good hands at all times. But if adventure sports is not your thing, this is still a great place to just hang out & chill & unwind.

The food is delicious & the service top notch. Meals can be cooked to your taste & needs & the staff are ever so accommodating. I still remember the freshly made pineapple juice which our chef prepared for us mid mornings while we sat overlooking the river in the coolness of the Long House.

During our stay we went white water rafting which was absolutely exhilarating as well as bird watching with a local expert.

Borderlands is great for individuals, families, school visits & corporate events. We enjoyed the quietness that the place has to offer & even got to experience a fun filled evening of song & dance during a corporate dinner event there.

Can’t wait to go back!!

We stayed here two nights in an amazing room on stilts where you could hear the river. All very open but very private. We went white water rafting, kayaking and hiking with the staff who were all knowledgeable and we always felt safe. The food is served for everyone at the same time and was all fresh and different each time. You sit overlooking the river in a covered area which is also a chill out area with lots of comfy sofas and great music. Wonderful to just collapse on to those seats in an evening to recover from your activities and relax in the cool evening air. A special place indeed.

Borderlands is the perfect place for a Sri Lankan adventure. I recommend rafting down the Kelani river, canyoning and abseiling but they have many on offer from bike rides to exploring ancient caves. They are also able to organize more extreme adventures on request.

The team are qualified professional guides who make you feel comfortable and safe. They follow a number of safety measures to ensure they run every activity safety.

Their rooms look out to the Kelani river and it's amazing to wake up with that view. Food's great too, lots of local produce.

Thank you so much for a memorable adventure!

One of my best experience in Sri Lanka.
We were with family friends our husbands went for diving and they loved it and we ladies were with kids.

Staff it every to insure safety of small kids. I will still not recommend parents with small kids to go. It was surprise trip from our friend so had no clue. It's a small walk down hill walk from parking to borderlands.
There is no road. So wear comfy but same time non slippery slippers or shoes.

Food is fresh and so yummy 🤤. I loved every thing they cooked.

Our stay at Borderlands was good, the staff were very helpful and so good at the activities they take you out on. We stayed for 2 nights last week on our tour around Sri Lanka.

The atmosphere at the camp was really great, we experienced the rolling blackouts of Sri Lanka but it was special to socialise by candlelight in the middle of the jungle.

We did white water rafting, canyoning, the hike and kayaking. All the activities were fantastic, even in a monsoon the staff made them enjoyable and the rain added to the experience.

The view from the eco lodges is special and right onto the river but be prepared for living a simple life. We really enjoyed this.

The only issues we had with our stay was that the evening meal was the same choice for both nights of our stay. Not a massive deal anyway. We felt like we were trying to be fobbed off when Wade said he had made an error in scheduling and he asked what time we were leaving in the morning, this suggested to us that we were not as important as the VIP clients that were attending at the same time as us. We were told there weren’t enough kayaks for us to join but when our guide took us to get our gear, there was plenty of boats. When we all got out on the river, we had a great time and the issue was resolved. I mention this only as I have read in another review a similar issue, Borderlands needs to decide if it is for families or corporate events and treat all guests equally.

The owner Wade and his family are very interesting people and we enjoyed listening to their stories.

Thanks Borderlands!

Fab location overlooking the river. Staff are very friendly, food is plentiful, beer is cold.

Great afternoon white water rafting and canyoning, felt very safe with the two guides. Good fun for teens and their parents.

The cabins are very rustic. Lots of wildlife included so did not result in a great nigh’s sleep but the joy of waking up to the sound of the river and the bird song makes up for the slightly uncomfortable sleep.

We were the only tourists at the time of the stay, a large group of school children were leaving as we arrived. The atmosphere would be better with more guests.

A very pleasant eco-lodge. Nice activities (canyoning, rafting and hiking). The guides and the welcoming staff are very careful of their hoists. The location in the deep jungle, bordering the river is stunning.
The Manager is very helpful and his advises are really good.

I stayed 2 nights in this camp the cabanas are rustic style and open up onto a fast flowing river. The food here is amazing and compliments to the chef. The adventures here are full range from beginners to advanced. Ranging from kayaking, Rafting, canyoning and hiking.

Definitely worth a stop over for a night if you like the outdoors..

Alternative type of accommodation, genial owners. Interesting position beside a river. Didn’t see it at it’s best because the water levels were low, we stayed there so we could do some whitewater rafting. Very enjoyable short stay.

I used an adaptor that I bought at Gatwick, it was really easy I would worry about the 2 or 3 plug configuration My adaptor cost me £7.00 and I've it dozens of times since
