It's hard to write something that captures how amazing this place it, Sebatu is really very special and unique, absolutely wonderful. We were a family group of 3 boys, parents and granny and stayed in 2 bamboo pods. Luxurious, spacious rooms in the heart of nature, the wonderful pool with little fish swimming with you, this is a really special place to stay. The owners have created a luxurious place which is incredibly relaxing; really excellent food in the restaurant with a beautiful menu to choose from to suit differing tastes, the breakfast is stunning and so beautifully presented, and every detail of the styling and design is beautiful and carefully considered. Beds and pillows were so comfy, air conditioning upstairs in the lumbung was really effective but we had the lovely option of the downstairs level to be closer to nature and fresh air. The architecture of the incredible bamboo pods is breathtaking, it is so inspiring to see, and such clever design. It was easy to arrange a driver to and from Ubud making everything so easy, and they helped arrange transfers to and from further destinations, which was great value and the drivers were all lovely. We were very sad to leave. We did a day trip in one of the beautiful VW combos in pouring rain which was so memorable and huge fun. I strongly recommend staying at Sebatu, it's so close to Ubud and we felt welcomed, cared for, relaxed and really lucky to have discovered this place. I'd love to go back. The owners Alex and Eva have created something really special and you can feel the care and thought that has gone into every little touch; the whole place has a blend of high end luxury within the truly beautiful Balinese culture and setting, in the absolutely heart of nature which we just loved. A really wonderful place.

Another fantastic visit to Sebatu Sanctuary! Evi and her team consistently make it feel like a true home away from home. The resort's natural pool is outstanding, offering endless fun for the kids with its fish-filled waters. The restaurant is excellent too, with a menu that hits all the culinary spots, satisfying a range of tastes and preferences. It's an idyllic blend of luxury, nature, and top-notch service, making it a must-visit destination for a serene retreat in the heart of Bali's uplands.

Beautiful jungle resort with the most amazing staff! We stayed 4 nights at the end of our trip to Bali and loved the setting in up the hills in the middle of the jungle as well as the very friendly and attentive staff, who did everything to make our stay pleasant. The restaurant is outstanding and offered by far the most delicious food we had during our stay in Bali. Try the tangerine salad and the Scrambled Egg Prata Wrap for breakfast! Make sure you know that due to the location of the resort you share the grounds with a big variety of animals and insects and you might meet some frogs, lizards and ants in your open bathroom ;). Although the hotel does't have its own spa, local therapists come there on demand. Definitely treat yourself with a massage (I can recommend the hot stone massage), which can be booked at the reception. Special thanks go to Wayan who was very helpful and considerate and made sure everything was perfect all the time.

Thanks for sharing the love about Sebatu Sanctuary. We very much see ourselves as purveyors of amazing experiences from our unique eco-accommodations, our Indonesian, Thai, and Indian cuisines, to a range of activities that we offer. I'm also glad that you mentioned that guests might be sharing their bathrooms with an array of small wildlife. Our accommodations, especially the bathrooms are built specifically to enhance an interaction with nature. However, for people that have a phobia of any of the above-mentioned animals, we may not be the best choice.

This is our third time visiting Ubud, but our first time with children (2 years old). The Sebatu Sanctuary Eco-Resort was an excellent choice and a great value for our family. We booked the entire Dutch Colonial Villa, which consisted of two suites (a top-floor suite and a bottom-floor suite), for five nights. They were able to provide cribs for our children. Yuni and other resort staff were so amazing with our children. They'd often wish the children away (with permission) to take them on tours of the resort, to feed fish, pick fruit, etc.. It was really amazing to see the level of service the Eco-Resort provided, from the front desk staff to housekeeping. We would bump into Alex, the owner, from time to time, and he would take time to ask how we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything they could do to make our stay more enjoyable. He also gave a fantastic tour of the property. It was great to hear about the design of the resort and about the community. Each of the suites had a well-stocked (free) minibar. There was also tea and two types of coffee (my only complaint is the lack of a label, so we knew which was Bali coffee and which was for the French press). Breakfast each morning was excellent. The massages we booked were on par with what you'd expect from the top-level resorts in the area, but not at inflated resort prices. The hotel was also able to help us book a photographer to capture our time in the area. The rooms were very comfortable. The lower-level suite did suffer from high humidity, but the resort was aware of this and had already installed a dehumidifier, which resolved the issue. There were no major issues with bugs or geckos in the room, which is a typical complaint for rooms next to rice fields in Bali. The views from both suites of the rice fields were spectacular. It was great to see that the resort provided a very well-rounded, polished experience. They would even set up a screen to show you a movie on their lawn in the evenings. The pool was fantastic. It was almost like snorkeling, as there were so many fish. The only slight downside was that our swimsuits had a strong odor as there is no chlorine, so I'd recommend rinsing after you swim. It was also nice that we could have lunch and dinner at the resort. All meals were of high quality and at reasonable prices, though portion sizes were modest. Guests from other resorts were stopping by for meals, which speaks to the quality of the food provided. Overall, we would highly recommend the Sebatu Sanctuary Eco-Resort.

I stayed here with my 11 year old daughter (who always had a fantasy of staying in a treehouse) for four nights. All I can say was that the experience here was sublime and magical for both of us, perhaps even spiritual for me. The visual, olfactory and auditory sensate immersion both within the jungle, its protean denizens and the cultivated tropical gardens as well as the freshwater pool of the sanctuary was a soothing salve for the soul, and acted as an experiential reminder of the 'bigger picture' of nature, and our innate connection to it; one that is oft forgotten within a distracting, distractible and busy world. In the process of Doing, we forget Being, and Being-in-becoming. Sebatu Sanctuary acted as a comfortable framework to remind us of the latter. I could not reap higher praise for the staff too: they were nothing but warm, nurturing and welcoming to us, and also very informative regarding activity options as well as knowledge regarding the local area and culture. Thanks in particular to Kew (apologies if name misspelt), who guided us through to a nearby waterfall and acted as a day guide to visit the awe inspiring nearby Goa Gajah and Tirta Empul temple complexes! Thank you Alex and Eve, may your eco-resort flourish for the decades to come.

This I can easily rate as one of my best stay in lifetime...We stayed in hobbit tree house as well as bamboo pod for 1 night each. There are some cons in bamboo pods but incomparison to pros I am neglecting those. The service and the people involved in activities are top of this world . They will go a step further to maximize the experience and to make guest comfortable. We being vegetarian they served and accommodated our needs very well. The romantic picnic with there guide was best activity I ever had in life. Thank you thank you thank you

If you're looking for a mesmerizing stay in Bali, this is the place. A little away from thr UBUD, this is a hidden gem in a small country side area called Sebatu. We had a chance to stay in Bamboo POD for 3 nights. Luckily we had a chance to experience the rainfall during our stay. The living room below becomes a perfect gallery for you to enjoy the rains. The bedroom space is a cozy one. Doesn't have an air-conditioning but you just don't need it. It's so airy the whole day and in the night it becomes so chilling . Food here is 5 star. You get a great choice for all 3 meals and they are more than gappy to prepare them as per your likings and taste. . Staff is extremely polite and soft spoken. The service is faster than the speed of light. One message and the people come running to you. This felt very special and personal. . Rates are not exorbitant at all and very pocket friendly, especially for the hospitality like this. We would highly recommend the bamboo pods for a couples staying here.

Sebatu Sanctuary Eco Resort is a beautiful resort with unique lodging. Unlike some other "eco" lodges, Sebatu Sanctuary makes serious efforts to conserve water and energy and reuse building materials, etc. We stayed in the bamboo pod and loved the view from our balcony. The menu, food, and service were excellent. The chef made a special dish for our vegetarian daughter.Nearby Ayung river is a great family rafting experience. We also loved the views from the road on the short walk into town.

We arrived in Sebatu Eco-Sanctuary after a long travel and it was definitely a perfect place to recover and rest, because of the beauty and peace of the nature at the resort, the wonderful house and the lovely people, who are always ready to assist. There is great food (ayam bubur!! Pisang goreng!!) and swimming with the fish is amazing. We will definitely come back. We also thank Alex for the tour, it was inspiration to hear about his vision and we support his mission for a more sustainable model for hospitality in Bali.

One of the best experience we had in Bali. Sebatu is a tranquil oasis, surrounded by jungle, just outside of Ubud. The resort is eco friendly with its natural pool and landscaping. The houses are magical, the view is amazing, the food very good and the staff is very kind. We experienced both the tent and the bamboo house and they were both incredible. We definitely recommend staying here.
