We stayed for one night in February 2023 before moving on to Ubud. The resort is beautiful - it is an old property but it is very well maintained. We enjoyed swimming in the beautiful pool in the evening. Service from all staff we encountered were excellent, from check-in to check-out. They remembered both of our names whenever they interacted with us. Room is functional. Bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. Only downsides are lack of decoration in the room and the location of the TV in the room.
There are some places where, the moment you step in, you immediately fall in love with. The happiness and kindness of the people here really is heartwarming. This is where you’ll experience true Balinese hospitality. Designed by Kerry Hill architects, the property has aged exceptionally. The beauty of the hotel is truly displayed during golden hour, when the sun lights up the facades with a golden hue. And the shadows dance on the polished floors. Our upgraded deluxe room had the most beautiful views of the ocean and pool area. We especially enjoyed the daybed on the balcony where we could simply laze on and relax for hours. The rooms are not luxurious however, had a clean, zen, aesthetic that we loved. The main pool area is mesmerizing, with such a peaceful design, and never got crowded. Sun beds were readily available and there were pool staff on hand to assist with any requests. Staff were seen cleaning the pool periodically and the water temperature was kept at a comfortable level for swimming. A stay at the Alila Manggis would not be complete without a visit to the next level spa. We spent hours trying different treatments and loved them all. Their spa treatment Balés are situated right in front of the ocean with the most breathtaking views. Having a massage while listening to the waves crash on shore, and enjoying the calm sea breeze really was heavenly. The massage therapists were experienced and had amazing technique. Breakfast at Seasalt restaurant is presented A La Carte style with an extensive menu to satisfy all palates. Every morning we started with a traditional Balinese Jamu, followed by fresh juices, fruit, egg creations, Indonesian favorites. We also had a private seafood dinner that was phenomenal, fresh red snapper, tiger prawns, lobster grilled to perfection served in Balinese style. The setting was by the ocean, and we were taken care by the executive chef himself and a dedicated group of staff. Exquisite. While the Alila Manggis advertises themselves as a four star hotel on their website, the service is definitely six stars. Everyone working here knew what they were doing and was extremely friendly and efficient. This is not the “systematic” service that you will find in mega resorts in Nusa Dua, but a more personalized, elegant and friendly service. Management checked on us twice during our stay to make sure that we were enjoying our stay and had everything we needed. The front office staff checked in with us multiple times a day to ask how our day was. The attention paid to detail was extraordinary. The resort manager saw that I bought some dragon fruit and asked if she could send them to the kitchen to have them prepared and served daily to our room. Was she required to go this extra mile? No, but she extended a kind gesture and these small details really make all the difference. When we inquired about a seafood barbecue dinner the front office immediately sent restaurant staff and also the executive chef himself to come chat with us and curate a special dinner menu to suite our needs. The service was overall so friendly, proactive yet unobtrusive and refined. Bali has a kaleidoscope of luxury hotel options and the Alila Manggis is a hidden gem. The hotel offers such great value, especially when all the staff work so hard to perfect your experience. The spirit and vibe of East Bali and the Alila Manggis is captivating. We will be back.…
Amazing hotel, on point service delivered with a smile. Fantastic sense of space I'm not usually a resort sort,(too many rules too many people) preferring private villa. But Alila Manggis has change that for me.,Just so much space Sleeping to sound of the sea, eating delicious food ,drinking delectable cocktails. Big shout out to the Spa ladies.
I really like this hotel and I go often there . It has a beautiful set up . Not many rooms , big garden and pool and a nice black sand beach . It’s comfortable, the food is good , very nice service and people . Will he back again with pleasure.my favorite is the second floor rooms .
It was my get-away-from-it-all trip and Alila Manggis did exactly what I needed. While some aspects of room conditions require some work to address mosquito issue, everything else was perfect for me and the overall aspects are still very well maintained. The service was outstanding, breakfast was exceptional, and the hotel ambience was very relaxing and peaceful. Staff was well trained to address issues in a timely manner and management was very responsive to resolve concerns and anticipate needs. THANK YOU for. Wonderful stay.
Alila manggis is the best place to escape, the service excellent especially Weda the reception she was so helpful, definitely helpful and Kadek this guy served us for breakfast and lunch he was very good, thank you Weda and Kadek. Food was amazing, so many fun activities we can do in the resort, we will definitely will comeback soon
Great hotel; located a couple of hours from the airport. Handy for Ubud and exploring the island. The team at the hotel were super friendly and attentive - really made the stay. Food was great. Spa treatments on the shore were a treat!
Globalist, points stay (3 nights) Check-in: Very friendly staff that provided welcome drinks and gave us a tour around the property and filled us in on the daily activities provided to guests. They have tai chi, yoga, afternoon tea and 5 min massage by the pool. Free shuttle service to city center at 11am and 1pm. Upgrades: Both rooms upgraded to deluxe pool view rooms (second floor). Sea view suite was not available Location: Not much to do around the property, even the city center is quite boring. I believe this is why the property hosts a lot of activities to keep guests entertained. They have badminton and a spa on-site. Restaurant: F&B manager is very welcoming and attentive. The food is pricey, but tastes amazing. Highly recommended. Breakfast menu has both Balinese and Western options. This hotel is great if you want to take a break from the crowded areas like Ubud and Canggu to recharge. Lempuyang temple and tirta gangga is 30-60 min drive from the property. It was a very relaxing stay and recommend staying 2-3 nights max as it can get a bit boring in manggis. The food and pool was the highlights of our stay Next stop Alila Ubud.…
Pure MAGIC! This secluded little patch of paradise was home for 10 nights in a suite nestled between Manggis and Candi Dasa in East Bali. With under 60 rooms and only 2 suites in total, we enjoyed the quiet and relaxation we were so craving. The hotel is an architectural gem and despite it showing it's age, is kept immaculate. The rooms are sparkling clean and the grounds are serene against a background of the sea and Mt Agong imposing behind the resort. There's plenty and nothing to do...your choice. We went out on the resort's boat snorkeling where we saw 100's of tropical fish and turtles in amongst the coral. We trekked with the hotel guide through rice paddy fields in the Hills, ending in historical village Tenganan, famous for it's textiles; we shopped in Candi Dasa with free shuttle and we took full advantage of the spa with massage, facials etc.. the spa staff are exceptional. Competent, experienced, professional and so beautiful. This can be said about all the staff in the resort. Yoga and Tia Chi are on offer and we booked a couple of extra sessions as the yoga instructor was excellent. I have to particularly thank the restaurant staff and kitchen for accommodating my gf and other dietary requests...nothing was a problem. Ingredients were fresh and many came from their organic garden. The variety was exceptional. The special Balinese banquet a real treat. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, happy and special. Other resorts could learn a lot by observing just how superbly this resort is managed. Thank you to Suseni and all of you for making our time with you a truly memorable one. We look forward to returning. …
Alila Manggis was beyond our expectations. East Bali is beautiful and the resort was perfectly located right on the beachfront. The entire staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is spectacular too. Definitely going back
