It was our first time visiting Bali and stayed in Villa Canggu by Plataran for 8 nights. As soon as we entered had such a warm welcome from the Front Office Team. We were staying in a garden villa. The location was perfect as it was right next to the restaurant and the main pool but at the same time it felt so private surrounded by all the greenery, beautiful plants and colourful flowers. You can spot butterflies, squirrels and the guineafowls in the garden, it is a mini jungle with incredible environment. The staff is always making sure and works so hard to keep the gardens tidy and clean. Also have its own grown vegetables and fruits in the garden what they use for their menu, Fahmi kindly showed us around all the plants and process. Had the most relaxing massage, professional service in a luxurious spa room, highly recommend trying the Padma Marmabyangam massage from the menu. Our villa was spacious and always spotless, housekeeping always makes sure you feel like home. We had the pleasure to take part in a private cooking class, using their home grown ingredients and get to know the traditional authentic Balinese kitchen. The restaurant in Villa Canggu is a top class, by far the best we have ever tasted. You must try it whlist stay, you will get addicted to the flavours! All the kind faces in the restaurant, bar, garden, spa, kitchen, housekeeping, front of house who made sure we get the best service at all the time. Just to name a few, Dika always made fabulous mocktails, Rai always gave us the best recommendation to try from the menu, lovely Dela, Dila, Trisna always making sure we have the most professional, excellent service. Every single member of the big team are so genuine, professional and kind hearted, totally spoilt us. They have such a high standard and really care so much for their guests. Can't thank you enough for everything, you made our holiday truly special, unique and forever memorable!

This is a beautiful resort set away from the chaotic Canguu streets. Stylish villas with private pools, huge beds and lovely hand crafted furnishings. The inclusive breakfast is vast and will accommodate all tastes with Balinese staples (mie goreng etc), classic western dishes (eggs Benedict with smoked salmon etc) available from the a la carte, along with all the teas, coffees, fruits and pastries you’d expect from a quality resort. We also had afternoon tea included (which I think is the norm) and took this in our room by the pool on the day’s we were around. A selection of savoury and sweet tasty treats, always delicious. The levels of service at this resort were the best. All the staff were so helpful, courteous, informative and always smiling. The very first morning is a typical example of how the staff would go out of their way to make everything perfect; we didn’t wake up in time for breakfast on the first morning after a long flight but instead of ‘sorry, breakfast is closed’ like you get in a lot of places, the restaurant team rang our room to see if we were ok, then brought us a whole breakfast service to our room, which was served next to our private pool. We were so grateful but for these guys it was all no problem! Besides this the rooms were kept immaculate (2 visits per day) by the super-polite housekeeping team, the private pool was cleaned and sampled every day, the outside areas were brushed every day and the front of house team organized all of trips, taxis, activities and shuttles with the upmost efficiency. Would recommend the spa 2 hour massage and the lawar making class with the entertaining Wayan as activities and take advantage of the free shuttles and passes to the 2 beach clubs. Overall, highly recommend this place.

Lots of traffic around the area but in the extensive Plataran grounds it’s quiet and peaceful. The gardens are lush and well maintained with lots of winding paths to explore. We had a garden villa close to the main swimming pool. It was spacious, private, with a lovely outdoor bathroom with flowering plants. The bed was super comfy. It was so nice to come back to the room after a big day out. The staff did a turn down service each evening where they mosquito proofed the rooms. Supposedly they were a problem but I only got bitten once and didn’t see many. It was my husband’s birthday when we were there and the staff made a big effort to make it special, with a cake and birthday song. They wrote happy birthday on our bed with flowers and strips of bamboo leaves. All the staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast and restaurant food was good. And we also enjoyed the afternoon teas. We enjoyed the spa treatments too. One afternoon at the afternoon tea some young women did a traditional Balinese dance for us. We were very impressed with Plataran and when we come back to Bali we will go to a Plataran in a different area.

As part of my stay we had 45 minutes of free massage. I sent an email to book to which I never received a response and they have the nerve to tell me that yes (2 reminders by the way)....no comment.
The entire staff is very slow and barely understands English. I had to use an app for an Indonesian translation for my breakfast orders...not to mention the endless wait when ordering...and when they arrive there are errors.
We had dinner one evening at the restaurant, never had such a bad meal in Bali. My husband isn't a picky eater though and he didn't eat anything! Additionally, the bill was wrong and was changed 3 times. 45 minutes of waiting to get our dishes!
We had a complimentary tea at 4 p.m.: 45 minutes to finally be served even though we were less than 10 customers!
The concept being a hotel with a private swimming pool, the "public" swimming pool only offers 2 deckchairs in such a dirty state that you really have to dare to put your towel down.... they are dilapidated.
Forced to ask for towels, pool towels, toilet paper because nothing is checked when they make the room. Never seen this in Bali anywhere else!
For the return transfer there were 4 of us and the driver only had 2 people mentioned. Until the end in fact....
Room with crumbling paint, non-existent shower pressure, temperature variation without stopping hot/cold! Private swimming pool with very damaged tiles. Everything really needs a real renovation. It's a shame because the setting of the hotel is magnificent but nothing has been done for at least 20 years. What a pity !

We stayed 5 nights at the truly amazing Plataran Canggu Hotel and Spa as part of a package that also included a 3 night stay at Plataran Ubud. From the very first moment when we were picked up by the hotel Driver Oka we were treated like royalty. Tulus checked us in, fast and efficient and after a cool welcome drink we were taken to our amazing Private Pool Villa which we absolutely adored. Perfectly peaceful, surrounded by gardens and the pool was sheer Bliss. We loved that we could shut the doors to the outside world and relax by our pool watching the butterflies and listening to the birds, lounge in the recliners in the sun or chill in the shade on the daybed on the patio. The room was clean and very well equipped, with everything we could possibly have needed to make our stay perfect! The Housekeeping Team including Adi and Eka kept everything in our room well stocked and clean and the nightly turndown service with cookies was a nice treat. Breakfasts, a mix of Buffet or A la Carte were lovely with a good variety, the perfect way to start the day. We were served a lovely afternoon tea every day and enjoyed our evening dinners, especially the Chocolate Lava Cake Dessert which is very highly recommended :) We sipped Coctails skillfully made by Eka each evening and watched the Bats and Kites flying overhead and heard the Gekos calling. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was a Private Cooking Class with the very talented Wayan and his able assistant Gede. Wayan was wonderful, a really lovely guy, we learnt so much and really enjoyed eating the very tasty results of our efforts for lunch! Gung Rai and Dewi provided the most relaxing massages in the Spa and Gung Rai also spent time teaching us to make beautiful wee Balinese Offerings. The extremely patient Citra attempted to teach us Yoga... probably her most uncoordinated and inflexible pupils but she persevered and we really enjoyed it. Other stand out moments included our fantastic Picnic Breakfast in the Garden, Rani put so much effort into making it just right and it was perfect :) We had a fun Mepayas experience (an opportunity to dress in Balinese Costumes) and photo shoot with Tulus and Cindy too. All in all this would have been the very best holiday experience of my life. Well done Plataran Canggu, all your staff were outstanding and worked tirelessly to ensure we enjoyed every moment of our stay. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we have already booked 2 further stays next year and definitely can't wait to return. Thank you so much :)

After our outstanding experience at Plataran Ubud and Plataran Menjangan we were excited to discover how this outstanding hotel group could surprise us. Every Plataran hotel is designed to complement its surroundings and to offer a different experience to its hotel customers. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by the now customary cool towel to clean our hands and face and warm smiles. We were taken to our hotel villa. On arrival we were shown to a beautiful traditional wooden door into a walled garden with a private pool. We couldn’t believe we had our own private courtyard. The door to the room slid open to reveal a large twin bed again draped in floaty mosquito nets. The room was very spacious with tea and coffee provided. A large TV which is available in all the hotel complexes. The bathroom was amazing situated outside of the room in its own spacious outdoor space. The bathroom was, as always, spotless. The shower was good.
The private pool outside was clean and we had a terrace with table and chairs and a large daybed for lounging with two pool loungers. The hotel complex had two additional large pools.
As with all the hotels the food was outstanding and the restaurant staff and reception were fabulous and so friendly and helpful. Plataran Canggu is located in Canggu but it is quiet and tropical. The landscaping of the grounds is beautiful with tropical plants and jungle areas. Pathways lead to hidden gems and private doors to hidden courtyards.
Our experience at Plataran Canggu was different to our experiences at the other Plataran hotels. This time we learnt Balinese cooking under the tutelage of our fantastic lovely chef Wayan Parsana. And Balinese dance and music with great patience under the tutelage of our fabulous teacher Tulus. An expert dancer and musician. Our spa massage experience here was also fabulous. Thank you to the spa team.
The hotel is also situated near Seminyak and Canggu central for shopping and the hotel provided a taxi service to take us to different places and we needed to book to come back, which was easy using the app grab.

The resort is amazing, absolutely wonderful staff and the beauty of the natural environment and surrounds makes it really special. It is a little remote from beaches and shopping etc. but to have an eco experience that is required. Day Spa massage was amazing, Food excellent, Upgraded Rooms are beautiful with deck and private pool. Our pool got dirty because it backed onto a temporary minor construction site so we used the second public pool which was always empty. Outdoor bath and shower in the rooms were great but toilet outside made it smell during the day so they need a disinfectant spray we can use to prevent that. Otherwise great!!

I arrived from Australia late in the evening, and was checked straight in. However, I would have appreciated an overview of what the resort had to offer the next day. Really comfortable villa, with a lovely bed and pillows. I agree with other reviewers that the breakfasts are a bit lame. However, I’ve had two room service meals, and they’ve been very tasty. Also, the afternoon tea is lovely. They pride themselves on their turn-down service, which includes spraying for mozzies and lighting mozzie coils outside. Unfortunately, they’re a bit unreliable as to the timing of this - it may be 5:00 pm or 8:00pm . They may light some coils, they might not… Tonight, I phoned reception at 7:00 pm to request the mozzie coil, as I’d ordered room service. Note, there’s nowhere else to eat except outside… i was advised that the guys had other villas to service, and shouldn’t expect to get this service at a specific time! Shower pressure from the waterfall head is too weak to rinse conditioner from your hair. I am not made to feel comfortable eating solo in the restaurant, which is why I’ve had room service the last two nights. The other touted venues don’t appear to be operational. All in all, quite a strange experience. Overall, I can’t recommend it. I’ve got two nights to go, so I’ll see if things improve in Villa 4!

We spent two nights here as the last part of our honeymoon and knowing Plataran as a brand, we expected a lot. We were picked up from the airport and checked in right after we arrived. They explained to us what we get and what we can do within the premise. We got to have afternoon tea and breakfast every afternoon and morning. There are a good many choices for breakfast and they even let you get more than one main dish. The villa we got was very spacious and we loved how easy it is to fall asleep in the bed because of the sound of pool water flowing and the air circulation from the front door to the back. The cleaning staff would come every now and then (twice a day, we think) to perform their regular turndown service, including mopping the floor and even closing the curtains. They provided us with flower arrangements on our bed and our bathtub. We also LOVED the jasmine soap because it reminded us of the flowers we wore during our wedding. And it's not just the rooms, but the Plataran complex itself was very spacious and packed with activities that you can spend two or three days just to do them. We did a few activities within the premise, including spa, making sambal, traditional Balinese dance and gamelan on our second day. We initially didn't think much about these activities, but they were actually very well executed. Even they had the chef for us to teach us making sambal while we chatted with him. On our second night, we had a romantic dinner which we thought was very thoughtful because while making sambal, the chef noticed our love for sambal so he provided us with many choices of sambals. Our appetizer even eloped with the chef's story of having sambal matah while fishing, so he gave us seared tuna with sambal matah. Traditional dance was taught with care and patience even with its limited time. Every staff is very attentive. You are treated not just as a regular guest, but as if you're a royalty. We think Plataran Canggu is a steal for its price.

Room which has a strong smell of humidity, paint which is crumbling, air corridor above our heads and very poor insulation, bathroom which disappointed me, the shower bathtub clearly they didn't take the lead! Nice private pool but lots of steps to get there. Room in need of renovations. But very pretty nonetheless.
The restaurant is unfortunately, despite the efforts of the manager who is very friendly, a disaster, the food is not up to the standards of Bali. However, we have eaten in more than thirty restaurants in total in Bali, but the one in the hotel is catastrophic the meals are not fresh, overcooked too salty, lousy presentation. Breakfast passable but not extraordinary. Fair tea time.
The hotel itself is pretty but very poorly located far from any scooter essential for this trip. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the Café del Mar (fashionable Ibiza beach club) place where all the people too much like to come and ride mechanics the staff is friendly and the food is very good however concrete place which overlooks an impassable beach. In short, we do it once and that’s it.
Very good spa and top massage. Better soundproofing would be a plus. The masseuses should also turn down the air conditioning a little, I was cold.
To conclude, the hotel is pretty but we won't go back as we get too old, too far from everything and Canggu, an ultra-polluted city where 8 km of road will turn into 40 minutes on a scooter (true).

The spa is in North Kuta, which os quite far from the beach. Check the hotel shuttle, a taxi, a rented motorcycle or rent a car. Surprisingly, distances can be very deceiving in Bali; 10 km ride can take you 30 to 40 min ride. My advice is to ride with hotel shuttle (book a day earlier) to Kuta and you can walk to nice public beach there.
When I have stayed at plataran Canggu. I have had a 2 bedroom Villa and 1 bedroom Villa. Each having 1 bathroom per bedroom.
The 2 bedroom Villa was 2 levels each with a private entrance after you enter the yard of the Villa. There may be other configurations I would email the staff
