My partner & I stayed at the Lokha Umalas during the recent New Year period in the one bedroom villa with private pool, for a total of 13 days (our trip was extended after our 7th day due to dangerous bushfire conditions at home). The staff were so kind & helpful throughout the whole period, including letting us extend our stay during a busy time. They went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. The staff even went the extra mile on our anniversary, completely decking out our villa while we were out during the day, which was really nice to return to after a big day. The villa itself was exactly what we needed & was the perfect place to escape to after a big day at either of the local day clubs, markets, restaurant’s or cafes. The pool was perfect for relaxing during the hot weather & the back area received plenty of sun. The inside of the villa was in great condition & the staff daily turn down service was great. The included breakfast selection was great, we tried all 3 & they were all substantial. The only downside would be for any serious coffee drinkers, where it is suggested that a local cafe is visited. Canguu, Berawa & Seminyak are all within a 15 minute scooter ride from the villa, depending on local traffic. There is a small set of shops within a 5 minute walking distance where there is a medical centre, scooter hire shop & various small food vendors. We would highly recommend The Lokha Umalas to any couples travelling to Bali looking to be close to the great cafes, restaurants & day clubs of Canguu & Berawa & Seminyak, but also looking for a an oasis to escape to at the end of the day.

We had such a beautiful stay at Lokha umalas! We were there for a week and i have nothing bad i can say about it. The villa was immaculate, beautifully presented, cleaned every day, a turn down service each night, even a nightly visit from the lovely staff to give mosi coils 😍 we opted for the inclusive breakfast which is served in their lovely restaurant that looks out over the communal pool, lots of options and delish food. Because of the location a scooter is recommended to get around and the town is only about 10 minutes away , the reception staff organise the scooter hire and the company is there withen 5-8 minutes and is very legit. All the staff were so wonderful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will DEFINITELY be back here !!

We really enjoyed our stay here! Friendly and service-minded staff. The location was in a nice and quiet little area called Umalas, surrounded by beautiful green rice fields. Rent a scooter and explore this charming little area! With only a 5-10 min drive you’ll reach some nice spas, restaurants, cafes etc and about 15 min by scooter you’ll reach the more busy Canggu. The villas were good in size, clean and fresh! We enjoyed our own private pool, and the outdoor shower (love it) and bathtub. The daily in-villa breakfast served by the staff was a treat :)

My partner & I went to Bali for the 1st time and stayed at the Lokha Umalas Villas after finding a good deal on booking.com. We whee pleasantly surprised at the great private villa we had for our stay, with our own pool and jacuzzi bath. The staff were also friendly and only negative in this regard would be the massage ladies, who kept laughing and talking during our therapy session. Another negative was the toilet not functioning optimally. But other than that the place is great to stay in and get a local feel.

The last review is grossly unfair and just plain wrong. We are 3 nights into an 8 night stay in a 1bedroom villa. The villa is very clean and well serviced. It is very well appointed and the bed is very comfortable. The staff are attentive and they try to please. The claim that the place is filthy is complete nonsense. There are certainly some minor maintenance issues that require closer attention. For example our glass toilet door would not close and scraped on the floor. It was quickly fixed on request but should have been noticed and fixed earlier. We have only had breakfast from the the restaurant and the menu is extensive and quantity ample. However, the standard could do with some review. A common complaint is that the place is too remote. In fact, it is only 300 m from Jalan Pantai Berawa which is a long road with numerous interesting high quality restaurants, shops, cool cafes and other retailers. The problem is that there is a ravine and small river in between. You must walk north and then along a street that has a bridge to J. P Berawa. A problem is that the street is narrow and very busy with non stop cars and bikes. There is no footpath. So it is not a comfortable walk. The distance via the closest bridge becomes about 800 m. I suggest that visitors download Go Jek app which is like Uber. You can get a car to most places for $1 to $3. It is easy to get a taxi or Go Jek back to Lokha. It is sometimes a wait to get a car to come to Lokha to collect you however. The hotel will arrange to take you to J. Pantai Berawa for $5. Once you are there you have an enormous selection of eateries and shops. The resort should make more effort to promote this in fact and probably offer not just a shuttle to Seminyak but also to the busy and interesting area a mere stones throw away. The Lokha seems to have been built as a luxury get away when the local area was just starting to develop. It is not now 5 star but then it is not that expensive. And the area is great fun if you make the effort and private pools are great as is the main pool. Some have claimed that the pools are dirty. That is also wrong. The surrounds are built of a dark stone and dark green/mottled tiles that appear dirty on first glance. But they are clean and well maintained. So good value and standard especially if you want a relaxing holiday with the opportunity of some very good dining not far away.

On arrival in Bali we were somewhat alarmed by the mad panic of traffic and noise HOWEVER arrival at Lokha Umalas was like arriving in a tranquil haven. Our villa was beautiful, spotless and huge. Staff throughout our stay were delightful, helpful and very professional. Dinner was served by lovely Pritvia and Diana who both ensured we had a lovely time, food was good we found and we tended to stick to the Indonesian food. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone wanting a quiet romantic stay in Bali away from the noise, traffic and tourist trail.
