We were there the weekend after Labor Day and the campground was surprisingly quiet! By Tuesday when we left, it was less than half full. The location is ideal since it's the closest park campground to Gatlinburg. The sites are fairly close together but not...More
It was our first time in Smokies, first time in Elkmont. The campground is peaceful and beautiful with very clean bathrooms. No showers, but you can take a bath in the river :) Sites by the river are THE BEST! Falling asleep to the sound...More
This was our first time camping at this site. Very glad we decided here. Our campsite was right next to the creek and was awesome to fall asleep to the sounds. The only take back would be no showers but my wife and I didn’t...More

It’s the best! Cool no matter how hot everywhere else. Safe. With other campers totally enjoying theirselves in this beautiful place. Only negative was no lights at night in women’s restroom. July 4th weekend was great. But wish I had known about fireworks in town...More

I've been staying in Elkmont several times a year since I was around 5 and I always see people in the summer tubing down the Little River. You're allowed to tube down the river, but the parking space is very limited in Elkmont. If you can find a place to park at the front of the campground near the camp store, then I'm sure that would be ok. What they don't want is people coming into the campground and parking on the sites. Each campsite is allowed 2 cars, but several people do occupy both spaces at their campsite. So, I'd say as long as you park in visitor parking you will be ok.
