Let me start by saying I am a elite Marriott Member. Have been rocking with Marriott for over 10 years. I have stayed in the States with Marriott and in other countries. I have heard that Marriott has franchise some hotels, and it shows. My last few stays have been awful and I have pictures to prove it. This one in particular, I chose because of a concert at the Barclay Center and the Rooftop looked nice in the picture gallery. But the hotel needs attention. The first thing we saw when we arrived was a wet floor sign with towels and paper around it and a hole in the ceiling they were patching up. The floors were dirty and needed to be swept. stains on the furniture, and carpet that looked like vomit. Downstairs where the coffee and continental breakfast was served smelled like urine and was filthy as well. Tables were dirty as well as the floors. We stayed in room 809 and the room did smell clean. The beds were comfy and soft, which is why I give this hotel a 1. However, in the room, we had to wrestle with the door to get it open, the shade for the window was broken and would not open. The water did not drain properly out of the tub. The toilet paper holder was hanging off the wall, the shampoo and conditioner was half gone, apparently already used. The wash clothes and towels had holes in them. There was an ice machine on every other floor. None of them worked. My friend spoke with someone about it. The reply was maybe someone unplugged it. "Hmmmm okay" The water was shut off for a few hours during our stay. They did slide a notice under our door the night before to inform guest. We wanted to stay another day in Brooklyn, but I was very unhappy with our accommodations. We checked out as planned and stayed at another hotel in Brooklyn. I never got a chance to see the Rooftop, I was so disappointed in the hotel and its upkeep. I pride myself on being a Marriott Member and expect the professionalism and cleanliness at each and every Marriott, rather its a courtyard, fairfield, residence inn or Ritz Carlton.... I was very disappointed with this stay. …
Just had the most amazing experience. Room number 815. Im an auditor, live in Chicago, back in NYC for work this week because we didnt finish last Friday. Long tiring day with a morning flight from ORD thrown in. I was struggling with my work bag, luggage, and my sanity after a stressful work day. Serena at front desk gave me a bottle of water, asked that I not pay, and offered to help get my stuff upstairs. I swear, its the little things like this that make someone's experience. I dont want her to get in trouble, and Im more than happy to pay for that bottle of water. But the sincere kindness that she showed struck me. And it stayed with me. She deserves a promotion. Thank you so much for looking out for your guests. We have to be in Brooklyn Thanksgiving week for work as well, and there is no doubt in my mind where I am staying....…
Location is good. It was close to the wedding we came for. Also close to plenty of good places to eat. Reserved a newly renovated room, but what we got looks like it hasn't been renovated in at least 10 years. No housekeeping during the stay. Coffee in the room was stocked with only decaf. Check in experience was slow. There was no complimentary shampoo: two conditioners instead.
Mixed Results on this visit. Third time I've stayed here on business in the last four years and can say that there have been some improvements but there are many more to come to bring this hotel up to the standards of a Marriott hotel standards. Improvements of note: Change in attitude of front desk staff Upgrade to the lobby Needs improvement: The design of the Breakfast area. Area gets out of control on the weekends when he hotel is full. Better lighting in the hallways after dark. BETTER JOB OF RESPONDING TO GUESTS REQUESTS FOR SERVICE. 3 1/2 days to have to wait for a mini fridge is Unacceptable on a 5 day stay. Better job of policing the roof top. The night I went up with a co-worker to take pictures there were underage children drinking and smoking. The noise of the elevators clanking as they go up and down is a disaster waiting to happen.…
We stayed 5 nights, I am sorry to say, During our stay we could not get the drain in the bathtub/shower unlogged, the room cleaned, the coffee maker replenished, clean sheets and towels or the trash emptied. I wish there was a negative rating that I could give this dismal place.
