The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, Washington, garners mixed feedback from its guests. While the staff is often praised for their friendliness, many guests have had less-than-satisfactory encounters with service inconsistencies and unmet expectations. Cleanliness is another point of contention, as experiences range from tidy rooms to encounters with uncleaned spaces and a lack of amenities.
The hotel's atmosphere and room conditions are frequently criticized, with visitors dissatisfied by the worn and stained furnishings, as well as ongoing renovations that add to the sense of disrepair. Amenities receive lukewarm reactions, with some guests appreciating the coffee shop and cookies, but others are let down by the cramped fitness room and underwhelming offerings. Lastly, many reviewers question the value proposition of the hotel, pointing to the overpriced breakfast and the rooms' conditions as not providing a good return on their investment.

Hotel's Favourite
I had a very good stay at this hotel. I checked-in fairly late in the evening, but the check-in process was seamless. My room was very clean and comfortable. I used the pool and hot tub amenities, both were clean and set at the perfect temperature. The hotel needs some minor updates, but overall a good stay.

Quiet, clean & comfortable. Only food when we were there was breakfast (okay) and packaged snacks (chips, no real protein or fruit) by front desk. Indoor pool and hot tub were fine. Classic Doubletree cookies were delicious. Our sofa was fine - they told me a ton of new ones are on back order due to Covid delays. (Don’t let the reviews of peeling furniture stop your stay). Front desk lady was strict about masks unless you’re sitting & eating or drinking. Great service. Bed was soft & comfortable. Mini shampoos were Neutrogena, conditioner was Crabtree & Evelyn. We’d stay again.

The hotel is: clean, simple room with comfortable bed. The mini- refrigerator and microwave came into handy during this Covid-19. Good location with lot of restaurants around that area. Slept well all 3 nights. Breakfast is "to go" buffet, all food are individual wrapped which included: bagels, yogurt, egg, chocolate and blueberry muffins, yogurt, fruits, juices and milk. Staff are polite and courteous. A special thanks to the front desk staff Julianna who was very helpful and went extra miles helping us getting extra towels at night, arranging the fitness center's schedule, opening the center's door for us early at 6pm since it was disabled. Thank you very much for the services! And what we like the most was the come back of the famous delicious DoubleTree chocolate chip cookies. It had been disappeared more than a year. Hooray!!

I am a long time Hilton Honors Gold member and have never experienced such a horrible hotel and service in my life. We called after we booked the hotel to confirm that the pool was open (historic heat wave in PNW) and they said yes. We called on the day of arrival to confirm and they said they had a list and that the pool was full an would not accomodate us. When we arrived at 2:30 pm the pool was empty and it was empty until 10 pm+. Despite this they would still not give us access to the pool.
My wife and 2 small children arrived at 2:30. They would not give her a room and she waited until 6 pm until I called several times and spoke with the manager. He finally came out and gave her the key after 3+ hours of waiting. While she was waiting at least 15 customers came in and got their rooms immediately. They said they did not have our room type available but the guests who were checking in had the same room type, two queens. They are obviously liars and low class scum bags. They would also not give her plates to eat food she brought for the long wait. It took me calling the hotel 3 times and calling the corporate number twice in order to have them give her the key to our room.
The hotel is disgusting and is obviously very poorly managed.
The halls were filled with trash. All trash cans were overflowing with trash all over the ground. Outside of the door to the parking lot trash was strewn about and looked like it had been there for weeks. There were old ac units scattered around the premises.
The worst part is that there were hypodermic needles (see photos) everywhere outside in the walkway. My children stepped on them and almost picked them up. I brought it to the front desks attention and they did not do anything about it our entire stay.
Very rude and terrible management. Do not stay here unless you and your family wants AIDS or Hepatitis from the layer of hypodermic needles you have to walk through

I regret paying the money to stay here for one night. We have a small dog, I was told the pet fee was an extra $50 per night for the dog (WOW!) and they charged me $55.
Then they told me breakfast was an extra $10 which turned out to be really mediocre - I suppose barely worth the $10 they were charging for it, but charged me $20 because it was technically my partner and I staying in the room even though she didn't (and couldn't; she's vegan) eat breakfast. They were happy to nickel and dime me with fees bringing my advertised room price of $125 up to a total of $230.
The hotel checkin person was curt and not at all interested in telling me about the hotel or the area or amenities. She didn't even explain anything after I told her I'd never stayed at a Doubletree before. Just silently tapped at her keyboard and handed me roomcards. Not even an "Enjoy your stay".
At least the cookie they gave me was really good. Definitely will not be back.

I stay in 80 hotels per year. I have NEVER taken the time to write a review but feel the need to speak. RUN don’t walk away from this location. I unfortunately picked this doubletree to spend 4 nights during a trip to the area. I often read reviews that seem to pick apart petty things. But this place is a dump.
After 12 hours of travel and checking in, My first greeting was getting a key to a room that was fully occupied but somebody else! Luckily I didn’t get punched or shot. I returned downstairs and during the 15 minutes it took to find me a new room, I used the downstairs bathroom. The sink was a mess and the auto feed towel dispenser fed 3” per wave. I suspected that this place was run by a penny pincher. (I check the next 2 days and the sink was never cleaned). I went back to the counter and was told I would have to settle for queen as they had no more kings. I said that was fine. The room looked more like a college kid apartment (see pics of the furniture).
The next morning I spoke to asst manager Amber. I asked about the condition of the furniture and the backing up shower drain. I had a coworker checking in the next day and wondered if there was a better room for him. She explained that she could put him in a remodeled room. I said thanks. (This turned out to be a lie as apparently none of the rooms were remodeled).
I was ok until 2 nights later while I was waiting to pay for a water at the front desk and I over heard a English second language couple asking to change rooms because their room was next to the elevator shaft (see pic of room that basically shared the shaft!). The clerk said it would cost $10 more to move to a quiet room!! I stepped in and said they shouldn’t have to pay more for a different but like-kind room. The clerk pointed at me and told me to “mind my business!!!” I took offense and she said “GO TO YOUR ROOM!”
This rep never gave me her name. She also denied that Amber would have ever told me that my coworker would get a remodeled room which forced the admission that no rooms had been remodeled.
Oh. Did I mention you have to stand to side of the toilet to pee because the door blocks the ability to stand straight in line? The sink is in the living room, bulbs were burned out, and more.
Oh. And the famed Doubletree cookies were always being baked but never seemed to be ready.
Soooo this is warning if you are thinking of staying here and an open letter to General Manager DLanz Harris. Do not charge full price for a property that is half baked at best.

I would like to start by saying that all staff I interacted with were friendly and professional. Nothing negative to say there.
Unfortunately though, this is probably the worst Hilton property I've ever stayed at. To sum it up there just seems to be a large backlog of maintenance items. And I definitely don't feel that our 3 night stay was worth the nearly $800 with $50 pet fee.
The facility is very tired and feels and looks ready for a major overhaul. I've included pictures of the condition of the room. I would expect this from a $99/night motel, much less a Hilton branded property.
2 of the 3 side doors were broken and inaccessible from the outside, and the ice machine was broken on our floor.
The room had numerous issues including broken / torn / damaged furniture, a burned out vanity light, damaged shades, torn/missing fabric on the couch/pull out bed arms, loose hardware on the shower. The couch had lots of glitter showing on the fabric where the 'leather" had torn away. The glitter was also found on our curtains. Glitter leftovers usually speak for themself as far as what's been going on. In the pics it's hard to see, and there's a lot more than what showed up.
I will say the bathroom was nicely updated, but that was the only positive in the room. I've included pictures of the damage, and I don't normally do that but as things started stacking up, I began noticing more and more issues.
I really don't think this room was worth $800 for 3 nights, and we found ourselves regretting not booking the Hampton Inn up the street. Would probably not return, as there are other options with much higher quality for lower cost.

Enough said.
I must have a minimum of 200 characters so, spent over $200 with taxes for one night. Reserved it late the night before arrival with the caveat that it was walkable to the surgicenter and early check in. Arrived at 11 AM to find that no rooms were cleaned yet supposedly because "we have been booked up for so long in advance", and an early check in fee of $25 will be assessed. These are the furnishings. Wow. Not a Hilton property or approach that I have ever experienced.

Response from Jessica Burton, General Manager at Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Vancouver, Washington
Responded 6 Sept 2023
Good Morning, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your stay at our location. I do apologize for the inconvenience the ongoing renovation has caused during your stay. We do value transparency and have worked diligently to remain as transparent as possible from listing the renovation status online to the welcome letter and approved room design displays located in the lobby. We do understand the inconvenience the ongoing renovation poses and have a renovation discount built into the rate, running much lower than the Hilton hotels around us. In regard to the request of early check in; Respectfully, while we do our best to work diligently to allow early check in; there are times when it is not possible. With a check out of 11:00 a.m. for most guests, our housekeepers do need time to be able to clean the room before guest arrivals which is why we guarantee a check in time of 3:00 p.m. Unfortunately, it does sound like this may have been one of those times. Again, we do apologize and thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

We stayed at your Vancouver location on March 23rd-25th 2024.
When we got back to the room the evening of the 23rd, my daughter got into bed and quickly asked me”mom am I bleeding”? I responded no, you are not.
I quickly removed the sheets from her bed and called the front desk and received blankets ( the brown rough ones). My daughter was completely grossed out and very uncomfortable.
The next morning I contacted the front desk via the app. I was chatting with Renee L, I explained to her what happed -the blankets were collected that morning.
We went back and forth for a bit and what was offered was a free breakfast we don’t eat hotel breakfast and 5000 points and both are useless to us since we won’t be coming back to a Hilton again.
I’m very disappointed , this is completely unsanitary and unacceptable.
Whose blood is this, are they sick? Do they have a disease now you guys have put my daughter at risk for a health issue. It wasn’t old blood either, it is fresh blood it’s completely disgusting.
Not to mention the down comforter that was under the sheet had stains all over it I feel it’s very unsanitary, and you put our health at risk.
I’m sure all of your employees have been through OSHA training.

Response from Jessica Burton, Owner at Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Vancouver, Washington
Responded 5 Apr 2024
Good Morning Katie, Thank you for taking the time leave feedback regarding your most recent stay. As I mentioned to you; we do take cleanliness very seriously at our location. Upon bringing this to our attention, we do launch an immediate investigation into the bedding which was assessed immediately in addition to the room usage reviewed by leads in each department. As you mentioned; the sheets we assessed, the blood seemed extremely recent and had not had a chance to set into the sheet at the time of collection. We did establish the last time the room had been utilized was several days prior to you occupying the room. While I cannot speak to exactly how the blood appeared on the sheet; the facts in front of me do present a scenario to which this incident could have taken place after you check in occurred. As I mentioned I do apologize for the blanket having the stain on it. Typically, when a blanket has been treated for a coffee and soda stain and it has been determined the stain cannot be lifted, we do donate them locally; but it does seem that this one may have been missed after the stain treatment program failed to remove the set-in coffee stain. We did offer you several solutions to help remedy the situation in efforts to make you more comfortable from additional housekeeping services, room moves, early check out without any additional penalty to the desk agents helping to find additional accommodations for you and of course the points and breakfast compensated. Unfortunately, the help we did offer was declined. We do apologize for the situation and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I booked this trip because I’m getting married and much of my family lives in the area. We were looking for a hotel that could accommodate a block of rooms, and had a pool and banquet room. I will tell you this, I would rather host a party at the local Chuckee Cheese than offer this up to my family as an option. We stayed one night, and left because of the cringy filth that is staring at you everywhere you look. Stuffy, moldy rooms, pet hair everywhere and the distinct smell of dumpster to remind you that yes, you are in the depths of hell! How is this a Hilton???

Hi Elidar,
All rooms in our hotel are non-smoking. Yes, we allow dogs on our first floor rooms. We charge $15 a day up to a $50 cap for a cleaning fee. I hope that answers your question and we look forward to the opportunity to have you as our guest.
Thank you.

Good afternoon Dara,
We are approximately 7 miles from Fort Vancouver. We are located off the I-205 freeway and Fort Vancouver is off of I-5 freeway. Mill Plain Boulevard and HWY 14 run East and West between the DoubleTree by Hilton Vancouver Washington and Fort Vancouver.
Please let me know if there is any other questions I may answer for you.
Thank you.
Hi bluestriad, we're 6 miles from the airport so about 15 minutes maybe 20 in peak traffic.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
