Nestled in the Upper East Side, Loews Regency New York Hotel garners acclaim for its strategic location near Central Park and various attractions. The hotel's staff is often celebrated for their exceptional service, although opinions on value vary, with some guests considering rates steep. Spacious and comfortable rooms contribute to the positive experience, despite some suggestions for modernizing the bathrooms.
A meticulous focus on cleanliness is a constant highlight. Additionally, the hotel's ambiance strikes a pleasing balance between charm and contemporary style, with amenities that ensure a convenient stay but might benefit from some updates.

Detailed Reviews
The front desk staff are especially pleasant and helpful. Even though we were early they had an upgraded room available for us. The bellman also most pleasant and helpful. The room was just great- higher floor with a great view. Spacious clean and beautifully appointed - so very comfortable.
The lobby bar is beautiful fun friendly people bartenders just great. We did not eat dinner there but the next morning we had in room breakfast which perfectly cooked oatmeal and a very very good bagel with lox. The coffee was really outstanding!
Will definitely be my go to hotel in New York!

My first stay and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are prompt and courteous, as one would expect. My hotel room was on the 18th floor by the lift which made me nervous for noise - but no it was completely silent. The room was large, height of the ceiling decent, well designed and great bed. The shower was unfortunately in a bath. The gym on the second floor is very good but no yoga matts which is a real pain. Breakfast on the ground floor is delicious however a bit snooty as was told had to reserve a table regardless of being a guest - such is the popularity of the location. Will definitely come again.

Greeting from New York, 704charles, and thank you very much for your gracious comments. I am very pleased to read that you enjoyed your time with us and we exceeded your expectations. I must say our beds are incredibly comfortable, to the point of which I bought a mattress for my home. They are excellent. I do appreciate your feedback on the gym and as a result of your feedback, have purchased yoga mats so they will be available should you be here in the future. As for breakfast, my sincere apologies to you but being home to Power Breakfast, an iconic dining destination for breakfast for almost 50 years, where business takes place prior to the work day beginning, we do strongly encourage reservations. I am sorry if this was inconvenient for you. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we look forward to welcoming yo back soon.

I loved the room so much I wish I could live here. The room came with a huge closet, in addition to a coat closet, to put all our luggage in which helped the rest of the room feel spacious and clutter free. The view of Park Ave was lovely at Christmas time and the doormen were some of the best in the business. Perfect location for holidays in NY. We'll definitely be back!

This is a hotel on the upper east side that you would expect to offer a high level of customer service. On the pro side it is truly a great location. There were however, several problems.
Most major problem in my stay (Jan 18 2025) was that I could neither shower nor brush my teeth due to a plumbing problem and the water from the faucet being full brown (see pictures). They were not helpful in terms of service recovery, they told me to let the water run for 15 minutes- which did nothing. I had to go to my parents house and ask to use their shower. What would I have payed to stay in such a room if they advertised it accurately as a great hotel but no usable sink or shower? Not much. But they have made no offer to reimburse their substantial expense or offer a subsequent stay, or make up for it in any way. I expect more from a top notch hotel if they run into an issue like this than to tell their customers to suck it up and too bad for you.
Other issues included the following: They offer valet parking but you have to let them know 30 minutes in advance to get your car. Ideally you would do this by calling from your room before getting in your shower (which is not working) but when I tried to call them - twice- they didn't pick up. So I had to go down to the lobby and ask the front desk to find the valet and ask them to bring the car around. That's annoying. They assured me they would call up to the room when the car was ready, but they didn't do that either.
When I checked in I had given them my ID and credit card- but the room wasn't ready and we were told we would have to come later to get the keys. We went out to lunch and my brother (who was on the reservation) went back to the hotel before me. They did give him his key but made him put his credit card on the reservation and apparently didn't save mine, so I had to make another trip to the desk to have them swipe my card a second time, and ask them not to charge my brother.
Finally, I booked through the Amex Fine Hotels program. In this program usually I have a room by noon to check in, and usually the room is upgraded one class. They were not able to accommodate either program benefit. Maybe they were full, Ok, but I mention it so you expect the same treatment when you go also.

Hello calitraveller38. Please accept my most sincere apologies for a very disappointing experience. While mechanical issues will happen from time to time, how we respond and handle the situation is critical and we obviously failed in this regard. I am very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced as a result of an unexpected pipe burst and for our poor handling of the situation. I recognize we did not handle this situation well and, as the Managing Director, I take responsibility for our shortcomings. I am also very troubled by the service opportunities you experienced and for which I am very sorry. What you have shared is not acceptable and I appreciate you bringing it to our attention so we may address it. As it is impossible for us to identify who you are based on your post, I would welcome an opportunity to discuss with you so if you would be so kind to email me at john dot maibach at loewshotels dot com, I would be pleased to speak with you. I look forward to being able to personally apologize and making amends for your experience.

Pros: The staff was the best part about the hotel. - they are all awesome. The elevators are fast. The rooms are large. The air/heat actually works consistent. Ability to use dining credits toward room service is great. Location is good.
Cons: Dated, typical hotel food like you’d find at a Marriott, definitely do not recommend ordering a latte via room service. And the biggest of all- right now my cc has all kinds of crazy charges pending from the hotel. I prepaid for my room back in November. As of yesterday one large charge actually hit my credit card. Also the folio I received was for a nominal amount but no details just a single line item. I asked for detail and was sent my room service bill which didn’t total the charge. I kind of expected a basic bill with room charge, room service charges, then showing applied credits… I messaged back asking about the pending charges and the large charge that went through. Definitely not a “fine hotel” experience, unfortunately.

Hello tonyap596 and thank you for your post. I do appreciate your kind comments about our staff. I am blessed to work with a great team of hospitality professionals that are committed to providing a great guest experience. Thank you for acknowledging their efforts. Conversely, I am very sorry that our food and beverage offering was not to your liking and for the disconnect on your billing issue. I am not sure if this has been resolved but I am glad to assist, if necessary, so we can get this right. You can reach me at john dot maibach at loewshotels dot com. Again, my sincere apologies that this has lingered so long without resolution. Please let me know if I may assist.

As other reviewers have said, great location within walking distance of the action. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. The room was spacious. I will say however that for being a fine hotel and resort, I was disappointed with the service and housekeeping. I think the daily housekeeping consists of making the beds, replenishing the towels, toiler paper, and taking out the trash. None of our glasses were taken and the room was not tidied or organized as other fine resorts often do. For the price tag, I would have expected more attention to the room. I had trouble putting the ironing board away and was hoping it would be put away, but it was left there. I would expect this type of service in other hotels but not those on Amex’s list. Attention to detail from front desk and guest services would certainly elevate this property.

I stayed at the Loews Regency for the first time after my employer recommended this particular property as one of their preferred hotel partners for business travellers. The hotel room was beautiful, very comfy bed, plenty of room to unpack all belongings and while the bathtub could do with an upgrade, the remaining features within the bathroom were very pleasant. As it was an interior facing room, it was slightly dark during the day but it guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep - I have never stayed in a hotel room in NYC before that was so quiet at night.
There were a few downsides worth mentioning. At check in, I received zero information about the hotel. I was asked if I had stayed there before, I said no, and I was handed my room keys and told to enjoy my stay. Meanwhile the gentleman next to me was given plenty of detail about the property (breakfast hours, the location of the gym, business centre etc). I wasn't told that there was an incidentals charge taken from my card - this was a significant amount of money that should have been mentioned at check-in, especially if you are tired after a flight from Europe. Why the lack of information at check in? It could have been because I had secured a corporate rate and booked this hotel months in advance, but it shouldn't result in unbalanced treatment of guests. Many years ago I worked as a front desk employee in a hotel and I know what information should be provided to guests at check in.
Another point worth mentioning is that the price of the breakfast, particularly room service, is ridiculously overpriced. I walked one block to get breakfast for a quarter of the price. $40 for an average breakfast is not worth it in my opinion.
The final point to mention is that the bellmen hailed a taxi for me when I was going to the airport. A few mins after getting into the taxi I realised that the driver had no registered ID or meter, took me on a much longer route to JFK and I believe overcharged me upon arrival. Whilst this isn't the fault of the bellman, I do believe that when you are a woman travelling alone it could be helpful if the bellman quickly checked inside the backseat for a driver IT to ensure the safety of the departing guest.

Thank you very much for the detailed post, LauraEireXYZ, as we appreciate the time you took in doing so. Your feedback is critical to the success of our property and we thank you for the insight on how we can improve as well as for the positive comments about your experience. You do mention two critical training opportunities - obviously, the check in experience was not on par with what our team has been trained to provide. I am so sorry that the team member who welcomed you did not take the time to familiarize you with our hotel. We are addressing this with our entire Front Desk team as part of a re-training initiative prompted by your comments. You also make a very valid point about checking for licenses but, in addition, there is a set fare from Manhattan to JFK that we should take the opportunity to explain to you prior to getting into the cab. Yet another area we are currently addressing. Your comments prompted a lengthy discussion with our Director of Rooms as well as our Director of Front Office. We greatly appreciate your feedback on your experience. Given the limited information we are able to draw from your post, if you could email me directly I would welcome an opportunity to make amends. I look forward to hearing from you and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our property in the near future. Thank you.

I stayed here in room 1014 (a "Luxury Room, 1 King Bed") for three nights in September and October 2024.
Rating: 6.5/10
Positives:
• Excellent location on Park Avenue and 61st, just two blocks from Central Park and close to the subway
• Clean, spacious bedroom
• Comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning made for a great night’s sleep
• Lively bar scene with an impressive cocktail menu, though prices are very steep
• While not a 5-star property, the 4-star quality justifies the price, given the prime location
Negatives:
• The rooms, especially the bathrooms, are in need of a refresh
• No complimentary water bottles were provided, only two Fuji water bottles for purchase at $12 each – a frustrating trend I’ve encountered at other Loews properties
• I strongly disagree with Loews’ pet-friendly policy. While my room was clean, the idea of pets having previously stayed there is unsettling to me.
• The elevators were temperamental, and I noticed many guests, myself included, struggling with the buttons

Ok so I was born and raised on Long Island have been in Florida since I married I go back to to the city all the time. Our go to Hotels are the Plaza and the Lowell. This time needed a place very convenient to where my husband was having surgery and this fit the bill. The Staff was AMAZING. Ricardo, Abdul (Ipray I have his name right) at front desk were amazing. Our beverage guy for the mini bar was the kindest. Drivers, Doormen, Housekeeping all fantastic. Polite, helpful and over the top first class. The bar, room service top rate. Yes, the furniture in our suite needs a bit of sprucing up, chairs had a few stains but nothing to get get upset about. Carpet looked new, Kitchenette was perfect, Bathroom small but got the job done. Loved our outside balcony and sitting on Park Ave. Housekeeping changed sheets everyday and always check on my husband, he had a little set back so we had to extend by a few days. We are home and after two weeks at The Regency I truly felt like a princess. The bar staff was great, and make a great espresso martini, room service fabulous. I understand that when paying for an upscale room you want it perfect, and yes a few things need to be ironed out, but you can not put a price tag on over the top service. Well done ! I would definitely return.

I have taken the liberty to share your comments with our team and have personally thanked Ricardo and Abdul for their work. I am thrilled to read that our team took great care of you during what was certainly a stressful time. We trust he is on the road to recovery. Thank you for deciding to gravitate away from two magnificent hotels in our neighborhood to give us a try and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

On the plus side, the room was big, and the location is great for my midtown office and leisure activities like shopping and Broadway. A few simple fixes would make the experience better. The hotel could make big improvements on sustainability. It is good that they do not automatically take all the towels, however, there is a lot of unnecessary single use plastic. There is no need to wrap the remote controls in plastic baggies anymore. Also, the cotton buds should not have plastic sticks. BUT the worst thing is having Fiji water for $12/bottle in the rooms. Fiji water is terrible for the environment, shipped from thousands of miles away in plastic bottles. Totally uncool! Also, I did not like that the coffee/tea making had to be requested and brought to my room, It should be included as standard or at least offered at point of check in/reservation. Coming from the UK this is very disappointing. The bar is fun and buzzy.

My apologies for the inconveniences and disappointment you experienced. I have shared your comments regarding the q-tips, in room water and plastic baggie for the remote with our corporate office. As for towels, we are only supposed to take those left on the floor. If a guest leaves towels hanging, our Room Attendants are supposed to leave them as is. Obviously, this didn't happen so based on your comments, we have reiterated this to our Housekeeping team. You will also be happy to know that we are eliminating single use plastic containers by the end of the year and will be providing bathroom amenities in bulk quantities. Lastly, we do offer coffeemakers in room upon request and also offer complimentary tea and coffee every day at the entrance to the restaurant. I appreciate your feedback and do accept my sincere apologies that we failed to meet your expectations. We do hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back in the future and if I may assist, please do not hesitate to connect with me.

Hi cjay0121, our rooms that feature two beds are all double beds. If we can help answer any additional questions for you, please feel free to let us know. We'd be happy to help!
f you alert the front desk in person,I am positive yhey will do something for you besides an apology.I have always found them professional and helpful.
You should address your concerns directly to the hotel for room amenity specifics. You can easily look up the info on line also. Room photos at the website are extremely true to the room.
The last time we were there, we did have a small fridge but had to request they remove the honor bar items to allow us room for our own snacks/water. Our room also had a microwave but, no kitchen supplies provided. I believe this was just an oversight so best to mention what you need prior to check in. I believe we did not have a bathtub in our room, just a very luxurious and large shower.
I can not imagine they would charge extra for a crib.
We had no luck with the town car. I'm sure many ask to be carted around by it. Better to have them wave down a cab at the front entrance. Most likely will be a lot quicker to get around.
Sorry, we did not do a hotel tour.
There are very helpful staff.
I would suggest you called the hotel
