Detailed Reviews
My wife and have been staying at the Stewart (formerly the Affinia) for the past 16 years. We've always liked the hotel and loved it after the remodel a few years back. Since the Stewart has taken over this hotel, we've been treated less and less like loyal customers. Even when making a reservation 4-6 months in advance and requesting the room we have always stayed in, it's never been available since Stewart took over. That's not a complete deal breaker, I understand that someone may be staying longer or got there earlier, etc.
But this last stay we received an email the day before our arrival, telling us our room was to be downgraded. We called the number provided and were told that the sprinkler system had inadvertently gone off so a lot of rooms were no longer available. We travel with our friends and they each received the same email, 5 groups total, but when they called to ask for the reason, they were all given a different reason for the downgrade. When we spoke to the clerk at check-in, we were given the real reason. Another larger group had requested rooms and because they were spending more money, they were allowed to bump us.
I've never stayed in a bad room at this hotel until this trip. It was dingy, dark and dirty feeling with a view of a rooftop. For all I know, all the rooms are less clean than I remember but I think being moved to a lesser room, and the reason we were moved, made this feel worse for some reason. While we were in NYC things started shutting down to stifle the corona virus spread. We watched as the big group, that the Stewart was willing to bump me and all of my friends for, had abandoned the hotel. They were loading up on a big bus and heading for the airport, while we stayed another two nights.
Maybe the Stewart will learn something about loyalty from all of this. Maybe we will stay elsewhere next year.

Recently purchased a great Travelzoo deal for a one bedroom suite, which waived the resort fee, gave us 20% dining at Niles Restaurant next door, and $15 voucher per adult for Browns Bagels. The deal was perfect for a one night stay with our toddler. The front desk and valet service was fantastic, and we were fortunate that our room was ready hours before check-in! Gorgeous lobby with sitting areas. Multiple elevators that weren't too slow or too long of a wait. They also brought a pack and play for our toddler. Large living room with dining room table, sofa, and kitchen (very nice size fridge) with plates, bowls, cups, and a wine key. Lots of floor space for us to stretch out. While that space was great, it compromised the size of our bedroom and bathroom. It was doable for one night. Not much counter space in the bathroom, and the towel hook behind the door was taken off. Bed was comfy, and there were extra pillows in the closet.
Older suite, but clean and roomy. We were on the 13th floor, so street noise was still heard, but not as loud.
We walked to the Lego store and CAMP (about a 15-min walk close to Madison Square Park), and then had dinner at Niles. Breakfast was at Browns Bagels. Both eating establishments were fantastic!
We did park in the garage, but opted to reserve in advance online since it was a cheaper rate!

We checked in to our booked accommodation, of a double executive room. However, when we arrived at the room we felt it was too small for a family of four, staying for a five night stay. We returned to reception to see if there was any possibility of an upgrade. Danielle was on reception and was delighted to help us, her customer service and attention to detail was awesome - she managed to find us an upgrade to a suite, but needed approval/assistance from her Manager. Andrew then came to assist and again we were greeted with a smile and an excellent level of service. The upgrade was provided at a minimal cost, with some vouchers thrown in to subsidise our breakfast at a neighbouring Bagel bar (Browns, which I would highly recommend too). The new room, or room(s) as it was was excellent and absolutely enhanced our holiday and overall stay in NYC. Thank you both for making our stay more comfortable and providing such an excellent level of customer service. I will certainly be staying at the Stewart Hotel whenever I return to NYC.

Such a disappointment not a 4* hotel more like 2*
I must start by saying, that the location of this hotel is fantastic
This “box room” was supposed to be big enough for 3 adults an “Executive Room” was the one I booked.
From the moment we walked through the door my heart sank!
It was filthy, tiny, dated decor, stained walls, thick dust every unit was broken, boiling hot to mention a few things, there was no light, no mirror I could go on and on
The maid cleaned our room but failed to restock ANYTHING we ran out of toilet paper, glasses, tea coffee & coffee cups.
Night 2, we had a power outage for over 30 minutes at 11.30pm, I then woke up to our bathroom ceiling pouring out with water.
This was the last straw.
We had to go and see the hotel manager as this was now beyond acceptable & quite frankly a health hazard
Andrew, the manger, was extremely helpful, he moved us instantly in to a 1 bedroom suite which was by far much cleaner, huge perfect for 3 adults!
He also waived our resort fees & gave us breakfast vouchers for the remainder of the stay. He then also gave us two bottles of wine.
Just a little tip, this suite was on Booking.com for £650 per night, if I had paid this, I would have been furious as this room still wasn’t up to the sort of standard you would expect to be paying that much

This is the worst and dirtiest hotel I have evet stayed in NYC. I booked the room for 7 nights and the room that was arranged for us was so different from the hotels pictures on the webpage. The hotel is old and it is understandable..but the room’ carpet was smelling so bad and the window in the room was so small and it was up part of the wall so there was no light in the room. I went to lobby and upgraded the room for $35 plus tax per night..the first day the shower was not working properly and the water was not coming from the up part because it was leaking from the down part. Moreover the discusting part was that the water was not going and black wayer was coming since the shower is stucked..when you are in the shower you have dirty water till your knees. The first day one of my friend left the room and booked a room in anothe hotel Lord Moris since she found the hotel so dirty.. I called the maintanance department at the first night and they came and check the shower and they told us they needed to change some parts from the shower the next day in the morning.. but that day nobobody show up at the hour they supposed to come.. next day we still had the same problem we called the lobby and tell the problem one more time..another maintanance guy came and told us that there was no problem but when I was in the shower the water was not coming from the up part and it was still stucked.. impossible to have a shower. We called lobby again they told us a manager will come and see the situationbut nobody show up again.. just another maintanance guy came and told us there is no more piece left to fix the shower.. this was the craziest experience i have ever seen in a 4 star hotel. We booked another room in another hotel Hampton inn just to take a shower..next day I am pissed off and went directly to lobby and told our problems and they said that they are not going to charge the resort fee whic is $40 per/night. I even can not use my room how they expect me to use the resort.. also that day I talked with night manager and she sends Housekeeping manager to our room and they offered us another and cleaner room.. we said that since the shower is fixed we did not want to move.. pack everything and unpack again and again.. and requested the room cleaner that how it supposed to be in the begining.. we showed the manager the dust, and the dirty places he took photos but today we came to room and there was not so much diffrence but thanks Stewart hotel that aftwr 3 nights we can have shower before we leave. I am not even telling how dirty is the room with hairs, dusts everywhere in addition spider nets in the bathroom and in the room.. you can see real Stewart Hotel in the pictures I posted..I studied hospitality management in Les Roches and I worked in many hotels such as Barcelo, Hardrock etc.. beleive me Stewart Hotel is the worst experience in my life..

The staff was nice but I can't recommend this, especially when there are many hotels within walking distance that are much better. The pictures make it look upscale and modern, but it is not. It's a really old building and it definitely feels old, and it does not feel upscale at all. If you have 1-2 people in your party, you'll probably get the "executive king/queen suite," and there's a reason there are no pictures of this on the website. I wouldn't even call it a room, it's more of a nook (and feels like a cave with minimal natural light), which is small enough that it's hard to even find a place to open your suitcase fully. I trust that they clean the bathroom, etc but they still look unappealing, enough that I wished I had shower slippers. These "executive rooms" are also on the front of the building, so you can hear ALL the street noise (sirens, horns, people's conversations, everything - clear as day, even on the 15th floor) and it's impossible to sleep. Worst of all, they charge a $40 "resort fee" per night even though the gym and pretty much everything is still closed due to COVID.
A lot of random other problems. I didn't want the cleaning staff to come into my room but there was no Do Not Disturb sign. I was woken up at 8:30 AM by the cleaning staff - isn't that early for cleaning? The "resort fee" covers free coffee in your room, but there was no coffee in my room. There also was no ice chest. My magnetic key card stopped working. The elevator had some problem so it took forever to get up and down to the room. When I couldn't sleep due to street noise I called guest services to ask for ear plugs, they said they'll send some up ASAP. I stayed up til midnight waiting for them, called again and they said they're on their way. Finally I went down and the front desk guy said they didn't have any. How could you not have any with the level of street noise here? I once stayed at another hotel with much less street noise and they had earplugs at the bedside when you walked in, didn't even have to ask for them. And couldn't guest services just tell me that instead of making me wait up til midnight for them? The hotel's main selling point seems to be its central location, but I would rather walk a couple blocks and get better sleep with much less street noise. Just not a pleasant stay overall.

The Stewart Hotel is in a great location if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of what NY has to offer and want to be close to the action. Directly opposite Madison Square Garden and the AMTRAK - very handy when travelling to Boston! The rooms were reasonably basic but had everything that you could need. If you're a light sleeper then the wailing sirens and constant horn honking will drive you bananas but this was only an issue when we tried to go to bed early. Unfortunately we have been slapped with a charge of around $290USD which we only discovered the next day. Despite a number of E-mail requests, no one has responded to explain why the charge applies. We didn't use any of the hotel amenities so I doubt an additional fee would apply and it was never mentioned upon check-in.

I visit New York on business maybe 7 or 8 times per year, and this is my favorite spot. You'll see from these reviews that the staff is Stewart's secret weapon - I've been helped by Hector, Andrew, Danielle and Jenny and they're all wonderful. The rooms are very spacious, especially by NY standards, the location is perfect for those wanting to explore Manhattan's sights, and the prices are highly competitive. I'm missing New York because of the travel restrictions in place right now but look forward to visiting the Stewart again as soon as I can.

Cleaners obviously just vacuum the minimum needed to make the room appear clean at a glance. So much dust under everything. We asked for our room to be properly cleaned, and when we returned from our day out it looked like nothing extra had been done. All the piles of dust were untouched.
There were literally gaps in the window frames that let cold air and the noise of 7th avenue through. They had been covered over with blue scotch tape but tit was a band aid on a broken arm. Looking at the layout of the building it seemed all the small queen double bed rooms are put along the 7th avenue side of the building as it suffers the loudest noise. Fair enough, they are the cheapest rooms, but gaps in the windows!...?
Heating wouldn't work so couldn't compensate for the cold air coming through the window.
Corridors smelt of weed.

We arrived on Monday 27th January for a five day stay.
Welcomed at the hotel in a very friendly, professional way. Quickly checked in and were given a room upgrade due to it being my bf 50th birthday. We were originally booked for a queen room but we're upgraded to a queen suite, we were pleasently surprised at this.
Our room was fantastic, some little bits of updating were needed but overall it was great (see pics)
If you are staying here you need to use your room key inside the lift to access the floor you want to go to (we were not told this, & spent a few minutes trying to work it out lol)
Room was cleaned every day, fresh towels & bed made every day. All members of staff were very pleasant, friendly & helpful.
With our upgrade the staff also gave us 2 bottles of red wine on separate nights & a platter of cheese and fruit, very thoughtful of you.
Hotel is in an excellent position on 7th avenue virtually opposite Madison Square garden and Penn station. If you come out of hotel & walk to your right this leads you to Times Square about 20 minutes walk. Pattiserie next door and Dunking Donuts just around the corner for breakfast, McDonald's a five minute walk towards times Square.
Our only problem/issue with the Stewart Hotel was that it was far to hot in the room, and we had to used the air con to cool it down.
On the day we checked out a porter named Carl took our bags to the luggage room for a couple of hours. Carl didn't seem very happy, certainly had a bit of an attitude with not only us but other people as well. Not sure what was the matter with him but he certainly wasn't showing the friendly, happy, professional manner that the other members of staff were giving.
Overall definitely a great place to stay in New York, we would recommend this hotel

Hi we were advised by the hotel that small parcels will be taken in but no more than 1 week before you arrive. name on the parcel needs to match the name on the room and that there may be a $10 charge for each parcel (although i was not charged for my small shoebox size parcel when it was delivered) . the hotel was very accomodating
Am not sure, if you are referring to the hotel fee per night?
It's between $35 to $40.
You can call the hotel for verification.
According to Google is says 19mins with driving. I don't remember the tour bus passing by it.
I am sorry for not answering your question well.
