We were staying in New York for 9 nights, and having done the tourist thing in the past we wanted to stay somewhere different …. After lots of research we decided on the Lower East Side and this hotel seemed ideal … we were not disappointed.
I was initially worried we would be a bit remote but you are very handy for several subway lines and can be in all areas of the city very easily - but you are far enough from the centre to get a much different (and in my opinion better experience of New York).
Check in was quick and friendly, and having spotted a lovely open fire and bar on our way to our room we were sitting having a beautiful glass of wine 10 mins after checking in!
I was also concerned before arriving about the room size, and yes it’s cosy but it is gorgeous…. Absolutely beautiful. So bright and clean and had everything we could want, including an incredible view of the Empire Stare building and Freedom Tower, I would stay here again in a second.
We didn’t eat in Dirty French because there were just too many other options around, but all the food we saw looked lovely and the restaurant always had a great atmosphere.
We did however enjoy relaxing in the bar, staff were so friendly and drinks were great. We would really suggest asking the staff where they recommend locally, as we got directly ( and overheard) some great suggestions, most of which we tried and loved.
Much of the experience for us was the local area and I want to share some of our favourite places ….. just next door Ludlow Street Coffee for morning drinks and pastries, Russ and Daughters cafe (go early and out your name in the list!), Subject cocktail bar (don’t have too many) and enjoy classic movies (book in advance just in case), Heavenly Hot Bagels (just great breakfast!), Death & Company for cocktails (you can’t book, so we turned up just after opening), Restaurant Claud (a new place which I found before we travelled, you need to book in advance but it is just brilliant food/wine/service) and finally for a cosy excellent Italian meal, book a table across the street in Taverna di Bacco, you will love it!
In summary, a perfect, clean and cosy hotel in a brilliant area of New York - do not hesitate…… book it!!
Thank-you Ludlow and Lower East Side, we will be back!!!

Room we stayed in: LOFT(Skybox)1 Queen Bed

Front desk staff was very friendly. Check in was quick. On the way to the room we smelled a light fresh smell in the hallway. Over all the hotel is neat and clean. The room was nice and clean as expected, but unfortunately the windows were not!!! Considering the fact that appeal of this room is it’s panoramic windows with city view, my boyfriend and I were a bit disappointed that the windows were dirty. When it comes to room service this hotel did not disappoint. Every request was satisfied and was done in timely manner. Please see the photos attached.

P.S: The Roses, champagne and strawberry set up in the tub was not provide by hotel!!! If you are interested in this please make sure to call them directly and see if they provide this service. Otherwise there’s a liquor store and whole foods within walking distance from hotel.

I would also advise calling ahead of time to request the room on the highest floor possible for better view.

The Ludlow is a beautiful hotel and in a great location if you're looking to experience a much more "neighbourhoody" vibe in NYC. The interior of the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are really well appointed and with a surprisingly spacious bathroom for an NYC hotel!! We had both breakfast and dinner in Dirty French and it was delicious! Breakfast was a particular treat as it was a lot less sweet than typical breakfasts I've had in the US which is much more my taste. The Duck special for dinner was BEAUTIFUL. There are a lot of really nice bars and restaurants close by and of course, you HAVE to get a sandwich from Katz Deli if you get a chance. If you're going to be spending a lot of time up close to Times Square etc., I'd get comfortable on the Subway as relying on Ubers is super expensive or the Open Top Bus tours take a long time to get from here back up as they go through the Financial District and can take forever!

Stayed here for 5 nights with my son and daughter in October 2019. It’s wonderful ambience hits you from the moment you step inside it’s doors. The staff are friendly and attentive making this a relaxing and comfortable stay, nothing is too much trouble. We booked the Ludlow double with its 2 rooms. The beds were really comfy, my daughter and I shared the king size which was so big it felt like you had the bed to yourself! Having the second room meant my son had his own space so it was just perfect. The space itself was very stylish with a luxurious bathroom and small sitting area. Our room overlooked the street at the front of the property giving us a view of the iconic Katz’s deli! There is a rooftop which has spectacular views of the city. Inside, the lobby bar and lounge provide a variety of cosy seating areas, whilst the trellis covered garden has a lovely light and airy feel to it. The location is great I’ve only stayed in midtown before but have to say the Lower East side has so much to offer. We found the subway the easiest way to get around. I could probably go on forever about this amazing Hotel I really can’t recommend it enough. The best thing you can do is to check it out for yourself you won’t be disappointed!

The Lower East Side isn't for everybody but whether you're looking to party with Gen Z (oof) or seeking a respite from that scene, The Ludlow is an excellent pick for all. The interior decor is warm and quirky with a vintage charm, and the rooms (at least our Studio King) are efficiently laid out with ample seating space and plenty of personality.

Service was excellent from the get-go, and we felt that they were taking every precaution necessary amid the pandemic.

Our only gripe was the lack of a view from our room. I recommend splurging for a higher floor and requesting a view!

We went on a couples break at xmas Dec 18 to New York, our friends stayed up near 40th while we went for the Lower East as we're into a more alternative lifestyle. The hotel is great, as it was xmas/winter it had a real homely feel in the reception and main hotel area, log fires burning, nice cocktails. Location is perfect if you want to be out in the more dive bar areas, we found some amazing bars, tip stay off Ludlow and move onto other streets where the drinks are cheaper. We walked from the hotel down through Little Italy, down to Battery park then back up through China town to the hotel one day. Another day upto Union park, over to Chelsea, Soho, Greenwich. Loved it

Loved staying at the Ludlow. The design is beautiful - exciting to look at, but also very calm and soothing. Everyone working there was overtly friendly and approachable, which made me realize that I kinda expected the staff to be a little too cool for school, but that wasn't the case at all. The beds are super comfortable, and the rooms were really quiet. My room was next to the elevator, and obviously, NYC is noisy and the LES is lively all night long. I literally heard nothing from either the hallway or the neighborhood when I was in my room.

They were great at accommodating my requests for a room with a good view and a tub. The tub and shower were both fantastic - the tub filled very fast and the shower water pressure was perfection. I had the smallest room, which was snug, even for one person. There wasn't a luggage rack in the room - I found out later I could have requested one, but there really wasn't anywhere to put it, so even if I had known they were available, I probably wouldn't have asked for one. But the snugness was cozy, and more than comfortable for one person for a couple of nights.

We stayed at The Ludlow for 5 nights with our teenage daughter in a Ludlow Double room. The room was amazing, 2 bedrooms with a fabulous bathroom in between both rooms. The room amenities could not be faulted, it was very clean and we had everything we needed. The furnishings and decorations all fitted in with the style of the building, we were wowed from the minute we walked through the door. The beds were comfortable, pillows a bit soft but we requested firmer ones which were immediately sent to our room. The staff were helpful and friendly. The location is perfect, lots of bars, restaurants for all tastes. This is our third visit to NYC in 3 years and this is by far the nicest hotel we have stayed in and our favourite location. I would recommend this to all!
I had read a few reviews saying there was not enough storage/cupboard/hanging space. We had no issues, all 3 of us brought far more clothes and shoes than we needed but we had room to unpack all our belongings with our cases fitting under the beds.
We would definitely stay here again with no hesitation.

Just perfect. Omar was especially kind and attentive during a stay. We arrived early and he held our bags while we ate lunch before the room was ready. They texted us to let us know when it was ready and had already placed our bags in the room, along with some flowers I’d had delivered for my spouse. The room was lovely with nice decorative touches and spectacular views of the LES. You might see Spider-Man jumping across the rooftops below. You’ll get amazing photos from the rooftop patio and the fitness center has really nice equipment and was never crowded. The lobby bar is trendy and cozy (you won’t be sorry if you order the Espresso Martini) and the staff was great. Room service from Dirty French was outstanding. Get the pomme frites. The roasted half chicken and the chick club were also great. Storage space in the room is limited, but the hotel will gladly store any bulky items in their bell room, and suitcases fit easily under the bed with room to spare. There are also lots of coat hooks and deep window sills. It’s perfect for a long weekend in the city. The neighborhood was fun. It’s a gritty city feel, yet we felt perfectly safe walking about during the day and even in the evenings. Use common sense. It’s a big city and dark side streets are probably best left alone in the middle of the night. The bars and restaurants are easy to get to without going down sketchy alleys. Go. Have fun. You won’t regret it.

Great location, sweet views. My room's terrace gave me some fresh air, but it wasn't private from other rooms. My room was small, but the bed was big and comfortable Loved the bathroom, especially the rainwater shower head and tile work. Plush towels and robe, upscale toiletries. A stylish perch for a few days while in the city for work.
