Mr. E and I just spent 4 nights at this hotel. The location is good…close to subway, restaurants and the staff are all very friendly. Our suite was okay however just entering the unit, I could detect a strong urine odor from the bathroom however I now believe it must be the smell of mildew likely embedded in the shower curtain. There is no fan in the bathroom so this is the result. You do get used to it eventually but I hope they replace all the shower curtains if this is common. It is very off putting. Kitchen is small and you really can’t cook in it…maybe boil some water and use the microwave but that’s it. Beds are comfortable. They do provide ear plugs which I highly recommend using since the street noise is very noticeable if you face 50th Street. On the plus side, the AC made it also comfortable espcially with the high temperatures in NYC.…
We had a junior/studio suite and the room was very spacious! The location was phenomenal! Close to 2 subway lines, walking distance to Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Station. This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this location and the 2nd time I've had a view of a brick wall. It appears that fewer than half the rooms face the wall, so apparently I'm just unlucky. :/ The elevator, hallway, and room were VERY warm. The thermostat in the room is apparently just for show because it read about 5 degrees higher than we had it set and felt about 5-7 degrees more than that. Staff were all very courteous.
There were little to no ventilation in the bathroom. Water dispenser in the gym was empty for 3 days. As a platinum status member, i was supposed to receive a bottle of wine. It was never mentioned. And when I inquired about it, was told they lost their liquor license. So too bad:(. No other compensation offered. Doorman Romeo wad great. Very jovial and enthusiastic about his job.
Very comfortable & pleasant rooms. Staff was really helpful & hospitable. Nearby eateries all over the place. Love the maps on the elevators doors letting you know the historical landmarks and places in your area. Great stay all around.
This is our second stay here and we really enjoy the hotel. Responsive staff, very clean rooms and entrance. Our room was quiet and decently sized got NYC. The only downside is there is no associated restaurant or bar. There are ole plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby and and easy walk to Times Square and Broadway.
First off, NY city apartments and hotel rooms are tiny, but not at Fifty. The location is perfect for business people staying for longer periods of time and ideal for families since it has a small kitchenette. Veronica went above and beyond to help us with our questions after booking and upgraded us when we arrived. We had a 1 bedroom penthouse terrace apt. The room was perfect and the doormen always had a smile of their faces. Thank you Veronica and team!!
We were greeted with a very friendly welcome on arrival. Whilst we arrived before check--in time, reception staff kindly stored our bags and allowed us use of hotel facilities to freshen up. Lovely location with plenty of nearby amenities and dining options. We were in a studio on the 22nd floor, incidentally next to a "party room" called the Dream Room. Each day a new group of party-goers would check-in but noise from there thankfully wasn't too much of an issue. As with many other reviews, noise from the road is unfortunately quite apparent, despite us on the very top floor. There is little soundproofing of the windows and so ambulance/ fire engine sirens unfortunately woke us up on occasion. The room itself was very spacious and of excellent size for NYC. We booked a room with a kitchenette as we stayed for 8 nights and so felt eating out all of the time may get tiresome. Whilst our kitchenette was of reasonable size, it was not what I would call a functional kitchen. There is no oven, just a stove, microwave, coffee machine and toaster. Basic utensils were missing- i.e. no kitchen knife, no cooking pan and so actually cooking would be difficult. Breakfasts are easy however, with the iconic Ess-a-bagel just metres away and countless nearby casual dining options. The in-room TV was massive and allowed easy Netflix/ casting from our devices. The gym on the second floor we found excellent, whilst small equipment was multi-functional and so you can truly get a full-body workout. All in all a comfortable stay at the Fifty. We would come back (and bring with us a couple more kitchen utensils!)…
Hotel was the perfect location for us. Close enough to the city to get to attractions by subway within a few minutes but far enough away to enjoy a nice slow paced stroll. Junior suite was the perfect size for a family of five and had a nice sized kitchen. Staff was amazing and helpful!
Stayed at the hotel for a full week to give my daughter a break from the commute for her summer ballet intensive. We live in NJ only 40 miles away and my husband and I work in NYC. Very few hotels, as I was searching, offer a suite type arrangement with a kitchen that is actually somewhat realistic price wise for a hotel in NYC. We had such a fantastic experience at the hotel we’ll be back for long weekends and maybe another week before the summer is over. It was spotless clean, updated, and anything you asked for they went out of their way to provide. Truly a special place to stay. Diana and Romeo were like old friends by the time we left. Be back soon.
Solid hotel. Good location if you will be spending most of your time around Midtown. Room was clean and comfortable. It was also quite large by NYC standards. Hotel staff were very friendly and check-in/checkout was easy. Would definitely stay again.
