Despite some guests feeling that the Roxy Hotel New York may not offer the best value for money, it wins widespread acclaim for its stylish amenities, live music, and vibrant jazz-infused atmosphere. The hotel's location earns high marks for its convenience to attractions and dining.
While the comfortable and chic rooms are generally a hit, noise levels and size inconsistencies have been noted. However, the staff's exceptional service and the hotel's cleanliness receive consistent praise, contributing to a memorable stay for many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
The atmosphere is amazing; alive, fun, classic, and very elegant.
I got lost getting to the Roxy, because 6th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas are the same thing! Who knew?! When I arrived to check in, I was a bit flustered and embarrassed for calling several times from the road. Kye was at the front desk and welcomed me with a smile. I explained that I was the person that kept calling and he said, “Let’s get you a glass of Prosecco, if that sounds OK.” “YES,” I replied! He then hooked me up with a beautiful room, a bottle of water, and treated me like a queen. He said, “ I’m here every night you are here, so if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Soooo kind; I immediately felt better!
The next night, I got back to the hotel after midnight and Kye was already off work. My room key wasn’t working. The front desk was busy, and in trying to find water, I found Stevie at the restaurant/ bar. He spent 30 minutes going OUT OF HIS WAY to get me into my room and even gave me two complementary bottles of water! It was definitely MY fault for storing my room key with my phone, but HE apologized and grabbed me two bottles of water for my trouble! Truly lovely, and like Kye, he went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience at The Roxy Hotel.
Finally Zillah epitomized customer service with a kind word and a smile when I needed help adding my NYC- based daughter to my reservation. She was so very friendly and kind!
It is employees like Kye, Stevie, and Zillah, that make a hotel stand out! I have stayed in at least 10 hotels in NYC over the past several years. My family is returning in November and we will be back to The Roxy! I had an amazing room (it was BIG) with exceptional style! The bed was actually comfortable! There were drawers and plenty of closet space. The in-room mini bar was incredibly well stocked including salty, sweet, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and personal necessities such as tooth brushes and charging cords with multiple connectors! The bathroom was spacious, beautifully decorated and functional! The Roxy was delicious food, a great bar, a clean and elegant environment, a fun musical atmosphere (with white noise in each room if you just want to tune everything out) exceptional customer service and a really comfortable bed! 5+ stars!!!

Quite a beautiful hotel. The marquis alone has a welcoming retro aka Great Gatsby type of vibe to it. Holiday / NYE decor upon entry was well done. Balcony views downstairs, esp from higher floor rooms (I was on 7) are impressive. Bar / restaurant were enjoyable. Jazz band was even very good…technically proficient, playing standards and fun pieces w/ holiday vibes Rooms are clean and “warm” with the wood floors and matching decor. Comfortable bed (good pillows!). Staff was very friendly and professional. Especially liked Zillah at desk and operations - a delightful person. She went out of her way to help us out and remembered our names immediately after meeting her just once at check-in. I’ve stayed at similarly rated hotels many times all over NYC and this may be my new favorite. Wish there were more places to grab a bite to eat or pick up simple convenience items immediately nearby, but not a big deal. I had two rooms - both excellent.

We have been to NYC many times but have never stayed at the Roxy so didn’t know what to expect. It was a hot July Saturday when we arrived. What a pleasant surprise to see the cutest ice cream cart parked on the triangle plaza in front of the entrance!! We”visited” the cart throughout the weekend!!
Inside the hotel was just as appealing. The front desk immediately welcomed us and swiftly took care of our check-in. While all the staff throughout the hotel were friendly, helpful, and responsive, Zillah, in particular, went out of her way to make sure we felt welcomed. She quickly and graciously responded to all of our questions and needs and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay.
Our room was plenty big for two people with a soft fluffy comforter and pillows. The water pressure in the shower was great and hot water was plentiful (two of our criteria for evaluating a hotel!!). Unlike others, we did not have any issues with noise or loud music.
With so many amenities in the hotel (a cozy in-house cinema, Jazz club, Jack’s coffee bar, a delightful weekend brunch, a restaurant and room service, live music in the inviting atrium, a pool table, tables for quiet board games or playing cards, and a Photo Booth) we understand why some say you could have a sort of mini staycation at the Roxy.
The Tribeca location was in walking distance to a neighborhood pub for lunch, Soho, and a five star restaurant.
Somehow, the Roxy manages to convey an indie/hip vibe with old style charm and comfort.
Generally, when visiting the city, we like to stay at a different hotel each time… The Roxy may change our minds about that.

Mythical hotel , very expensive room but we broke our piggy bank to sleep there .... What a disappointment!! The rooms are small , very average housekeeping , Nespresso cassoulet are paid in the room: at 600 euros a night the house could make a gesture anyway!! In short make a photo but pass your way

This hotel was average both in quality and service for a three star hotel. However, I’ve opted for only two stars because The Roxy is advertised as a four star hotel. I stayed in a Deluxe King on a high floor in September 2023. The building itself is reminiscent of an Embassy Suites with a soho makeover. The rooms themselves are fine, but darker and more roughed up than the website photos lead you to believe.
Some of the issues I ran into during my stay:
1. This hotel is not intended for families or anyone who is a light sleeper. They play live jazz music in the atrium to which the rooms open late in the night. This isn’t a turn off for all guests I understand, but it wasn’t well suited for me. Even with a sound machine in the room, the music is still audible, making it hard to put children to sleep.
2. The common space in the lobby is entirely dedicated to the bar and restaurant, leaving two small couches for guests to use who aren’t actively eating or drinking from the bar/restaurant/coffee shop. The signs say as much, making it an uninviting space for guests.
3. House keeping was generally fine, but on the second night of my stay left old towels were left in the bathroom and they did not replace water cups or coffee cups. Weirdly the cups were moved back to the coffee maker, so they intentionally left dirty cups in the room.
4. Guest services was hard to reach or entirely did not answer from the room. And when they did answer, I was never brought what I requested (twice) so I ended up going down to the front desk myself.
Overall the stay could be described as fine. However, when I was expecting a four star hotel I was disappointed with what I received.

Zillah, the desk worker that checked us in was lovely. She gave us breakfast and drink vouchers and listened when we shared any issues or concerns. She was extremely professional. The hotel as a whole, however, left little to be desired. I was really excited to stay here because of the funky jazz vibes but I was SO disappointed. The bathroom tiles had mould on them because there is no ventilation in there, the floors are cheap wood over carpet, and so many things were broken in our room (light fixtures, the door handle and more). The lighting is also terrible. Despite all this the worst was the random alarm that went off at 3:00am for an hour. No one checked on us or told us what to do, and no one offered any compensation except for Zillah. The alarm was SO loud it was impossible to sleep, and reception did not answer any of my calls. All the guests were unsure if they should evacuate or not. Anyways, stay in an air b n’ b if you can.

Mixed feelings for a few reasons. I’ve stayed here a couple times and had a few different rooms.
- This is a party hotel on weekends and a very lively hotel midweek. Because the rooms are built up around an open atrium where every single night there is live music and people having drinks into early hours of the morning you hear EVERYTHING from your room no matter what floor you’re on. Yes, there are white noise speakers in the rooms but then you’re stuck listening to extremely loud white noise instead of live music, which is also unpleasant. It can be a lot.
- The rooms and bathrooms especially need a facelift and some major renovation. The bathrooms are SO OLD and grungy, the sink feels like what I imagine a prison to look like, the bathtub is old with a shower curtain that smells and feels dirty, , the wallpaper is peeling and the bathrooms smell so musty. It was kind of depressing.
- Lots of staining on the nightstands and on couches (if you have a suite). Also the suite we had was really small and tight and had a weird smell. And the regular room had a weird smell too.
Bathrobes but no slippers
Decent restaurant for dinner though could use more options and breakfast is lacking.
+ Great and very full minibar in room
+ Coffee maker in room with lots of cup options!
+ Attentive staff all around from the minute you walk in exceeds any 4* hotel I’ve ever been in.
+ Lounge area available to work from during the day is a huge plus
+ Rooms have huge windows which make the space feel larger. The rooms are also more spacious than others I’ve stayed in New York.
+ Awesome location
* Jacks coffee onsight
Honestly it’s a bummer because the cons outweigh the pros. If they gut the bathrooms, clear the musty and weird smells, and give the rooms a facelift I’d consider staying here again. It has so much potential to be a really amazing hotel.
The music IS a lot but for a couple nights I would deal with it for the other benefits.

The hotel has a good location and the facility is very good and well maintained, breakfast is decent, bar is good. The detail to take care of is that it has many hidden charges and that they are not clear in their rates (I booked directly with the hotel), at check out they very kindly tell you that the account will be sent to your email later, that's how it is and at that moment You are surprised by charges such as guest amenities fee, room charge (breakfast was supposed to be included in the selected rate???)
My advice is to carefully review the rates when making the reservation and review the account before completing check out.
I attach a photograph of the account and the building.

Our room was fabulous. The location is very convenient (but know that most “Tribeca” hotels are actually “Holland Tunnel entrance zone,” so expect some angry traffic jams in the area).
The service was unfortunately not fabulous. Really bad check-in process. Overwhelmed front desk with no good communication with housekeeping. We were made to wait for a long time and had to keep bothering the desk for updates. They finally gave up on our designated room and switched us; into the room well after 3pm check in time. No soap in bathroom (!!!), surely because of rushed housekeeping. Front desk staff person was on radio with cleaners saying it was them delaying things, in front of us and many others waiting in lobby. Next day, when I asked In person at desk late in day to see if room could be serviced because it hadn’t been, it was “Well I’ll see but it may be too late. We need to have a conversation about our housekeeping policy“ (while answering phone from another guest about housekeeping). Initial check-in person had not said anything about a policy.
Loud (although decent) live jazz until after 10pm each night on weekends (Atrium-style hotel, like an Embassy Suites) so the music comes up and into all the rooms. They have installed white noise machines in ceilings that play in hallway and inside room but the machines can’t compete.
At check out we were charged a $35 per night “amenity fee.” This may have been in the reservation terms but was NOT mentioned at check in. When I asked desk what it was for, was told “Covid cleaning procedures, water at check in, Prosecco at check in, ppe kit in room.” Pointed out that it wasn’t disclosed at check in there was no Prosecco offered and there was nothing in the room that could possibly be ppe. Staff agreed to waive one night of fee (we stayed two nights) and apologized. Not clear they are doing much training at all with desk staff. Each time at desk, staff answered phone in middle of discussion, did not place caller on hold, and proceeded to deal with caller’s issue instead.

The assistant front office manager, Roger B, was incredibly condescending and misogynistic. I can’t remember any other time where I was spoken to in such a rude manner, especially as a hotel guest! He certainly has a thing or two to learn about customer service.
The bellhops on the other hand, were fantastic. Every single one of them went out of their way for us. They were kind, polite, and accommodating.
The hotel is noisy - as each of the rooms faces out to the rotunda where the hotel restaurant plays loud music until late into the night. Bring white noise and/or earplugs if you want to get to sleep at a decent hour.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The design aesthetic was a bit gimmicky and just very, very brown. If you’re looking for a “luxury” hotel this isn’t it.
Excellent location walkable to some amazing neighborhoods.

Hi Linda L,
The double beds are classified as " Full XL" size which is roughly 53 inches x 80 inches. Depending on the height of the individuals and how much room they personally required it may or may not be enough space for them. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
