Located in a prime spot, the Lotte New York Palace is often commended for its stunning views and the building's elegant ambiance, especially during the holiday season when festive decor abounds. Guests acknowledge the spaciousness of the rooms but are frequently disappointed by their outdated nature and the lack of modern amenities such as in-room coffee makers and fridges. While the hotel's cleanliness generally receives high marks, the perceived value is marred by steep prices that don't seem to match the dated accommodations and the occasional lackluster service.

While I made my own reservation for Lotte New York Palace online, Marie of the Reservations Department had emailed me a few days prior to my arrival to learn more about my brief trip with my daughter to see some Broadway show in NYC. (I thought it was a nice touch to greet us even before we boarded the plane.) Marie acted like a goodwill ambassador on behalf of the hotel and wished us a great stay in advance of our arrival.

On arrival day, Nana helped us with our luggage as we exited the taxi, but since my daughter and I only had one carry-on each, we needed no further assistance and thanked him for his time.

As we entered the hotel through the revolving door, Captain, Mike Murray welcomed us back, remembering we had just been at the property 5 months prior. Mike commented on how nice my daughter’s luggage looked. (She was using luggage that was colorfully decorated in the “Yellow Submarine” characters made famous by the Beatles movie of the same name.) Mike briefly chatted with my daughter about the Beatles and Paul McCartney, which instantly put a smile on my daughter’s face.

Anne-Marie, at the Front Desk welcomed us back and checked us into our room—a beautiful corner suite in the Towers.

My daughter and I ordered In-Room Dining several times and were greeted on the phone by Leslie, who was very polite and courteous while answering my questions. Denzel and Maxine delivered our food and asked how our stay was going as they moved the food from the cart to the living room table, per my requests. (The food was as it’s always been—fantastic. Their chocolate crème brûlée is my personal favorite.)

On our last day, Lincy check-out the room for us and thanked us for staying at the property. The Doorman, George, noticed my daughter’s luggage and struck up a conversation with her about musical groups, concerts and his favorite performers, all while hailing a cab for us. He was very energetic, very entertaining and very enthusiastic about his job—again, leaving a smile on my daughter’s face.

It was only a two-day trip, but the elegant hotel, it’s perfect location (across the street from St. Patrick’s Cathedral and walking distance to many NYC sights) along with world-class service of the hotel employees, made it a trip I will always remember…

Have stayed here on several occasions when the hotel was The New York Palace, and this was my first time staying since being The Lotte New York Palace, and it is still a great place to stay when in Manhattan. Service has always been a strong point here, and am pleased to say it still is, first and foremost. From the bell person, reception, concierge, housekeeping, you are always greeted with a smile, eye contact, and general courtesies. Rooms are spacious (this stay was in a corner room overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral and 51st St.), very quiet, sparkling clean, and have windows that open for fresh air. Room service is efficient and the food is great (had breakfast a few days), and I do not know how they manage to do it, but the food is hot, including the toast! Location is ideal to walk just about anywhere, and the front desk team are quick to hand out umbrellas when it is raining; subways, buses, Grand Central, Times Square, St. Pat’s, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Ave. Shops, Central Park, Time Warner Center, Museum Mile, is all within walking distance of the hotel. What else can I say, except, I’ll be back, yet again, and looking forward to it!,

Comfortable hotel and very helpful staff. Superb location overlooking St Patrick's Cathedral and 5th Avenue. Very nice coffee shop downstairs with lovely treats and coffee. However there were no USB sockets in either of our two rooms which is not acceptable in any hotel anymore and the cost of breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children in Villard was truly shocking and only really struck me at check out.

I would like to complement the hotel on having well placed hand sanitation around the ground floor area which was reassuring at this difficult time.

This place is our home away from home whenever we visit the city, and we will never stay anywhere else. The staff has always gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome! They remember us by name and make us feel like we're part of the family. Thank you, Miles and Natsuko!

If you're traveling with young children, we HIGHLY recommend. They treat our 1-year-old son like royalty when we visit - they always welcome him with a teddy bear and other surprises and have a crib ready for us in our room. Many of their rooms easily accommodate a crib in an area that can be closed off from the rest of the room so that Mom and Dad don't have to go to bed when baby does.

We like to walk everywhere when we're in town, so the location of the hotel is easily walkable to most of the main attractions. If it rains, they have umbrellas for you to use in your room. Anything outside of walking distance is easy to call for an Uber or cab that will be able to meet you right outside the door.

Our most recent stay was during Christmas, and the hotel is absolutely MAGICAL! The decorations are BEAUTIFUL and they have a lot of really fun details, such as Letters to Santa. Each kiddo (or grown up!) who writes a letter to Santa will receive a personalized letter back! Straight from the North Pole! And as a special treat, you could see the Rockefeller Tree directly from our room which made our evenings overlooking the skyline extra memorable.

Finally, the hotel and staff take every precaution necessary to make sure that the hotel is clean and sanitized and safe for all of their guests. Everyone is wearing masks and gloves, they have shields at all of the desks, there's hand sanitizer everywhere, and they go through and sanitize each room with UV lights prior to the next guest arriving. No stone left unturned.

Could not recommend enough!

We spent a week @ this location from Dec 29, 2019 to January 4,2020. Lets start with the Hotel. The Hotel it is a beautiful property. Decorated beautiful for the holidays. The decor is beautiful and the location very close to everything. 5th. Avenue is about one block away and easy to walk everywhere. Close to the subways station and to Central Park. The rooms ave perfect size and they are kept clean. Now, lets talk about the problems we encountered.
Not coffee maker in the rooms. If I wanted a Coffee maker, a one time fee of $30.00 dollars will be charge to our room plus $15.00 per day to service the coffee. I had never heard such a thing charging for a coffee maker. second problem was my room was not clean Dec 31th. I had to call twice to Housekeeping to report the problem. Finally the housekeeper showed up and was a bit rude because she had to clean the room. I realized many of the rooms in our floor were not clean that day. Guests were upset and waiting for the housekeeper to ask what is going on. third problem, may room was charged $121.00 dollars for a breakfast we never had. My husband requested to see the receipt signed and it was someone else on the bill not us. They suppose to credit and issue a refund to our credit card, which still showing as pending. . I wish I can give you 5 starts because it is a beautiful Hotel. However, I fell that duke to so many issues encountered I had to rate this hotel and give 4 stars for the issues encountered. I wish they can include Coffee makers in the room and not charge the guests that ridiculous fee.

My family and I (2 adults and 3 children ranging in ages 10-15) just stayed four nights at this hotel. None of us had ever been to NYC and I was overwhelmed with the lodging options. I struggled to find a place close to the “action” that could comfortably accommodate our family of older children. We didn’t want to book a place that would require us to have two rooms. A few options were found but I kept coming back to this one. I will say I’m a bit of a self proclaimed “hotel snob” so I tend to be rather picky.

This hotel was located perfectly and as a first time trip to NYC we were so pleased to be so close to everything within walking distance or at least closely located to the subway. I’ve stayed in numerous hotels and this was honestly the cleanest one I’ve visited to date. I had zero concerns in this area and I could tell the housekeeping staff takes pride in their work. On that note, I’ve always stayed at places in which the housekeeping staff could be allusive after times, but the staff here were frequently nearby and very attentive to any needs we had. Each one would greet us and hold conversation each and every time we walked by. The little things do not go unnoticed.

Each staff member (front desk, bellman, housekeeping, food service, etc) was professional in every sense of the word and I have zero negative things to say about them.

The only thing I would have liked to have seen was more lower priced meal and snack options for younger people (kids and teens) particularly for room service. There was no kid’s menu listed on the room service menu but I also didn’t inquire about it when I called so it may have been available. We only dined in the room one night and while it was rather pricey, everything was absolutely delicious.

I’m not one to typically return to a place solely because although I often return to a location, I usually enjoy a bit of variety. However, this will likely be an exception for me when I return to NYC. I’m just not sure the Lotte could be topped!

I was in NY unexpectedly, and tried the Lotte Palace. I had stayed at the Palace Towers many times, until I thought it got a bit pricey, but had not stayed in the 'main' hotel.

The public spaces are just plain gorgeous, my standard room large and well lit, the bed and high thread count sheets no less than amazing. The rebranded Gold Room, where breakfast is served, might be the prettiest room in New York. It makes it a little less painful to have yogurt, fresh fruit and an English muffin for only $56.

The gym is large with top notch equipment and great lighting, complete with a picture window view of St. Patrick's Cathedral from the treadmills.

A niggling complaint -- I was not provided bottled water in my room, forcing me to the minibar's $9.00 bottle. A little cheesy for a luxury hotel and otherwise 1st rate experience.

I went to the Lotte for a week of conference. The room rate was at $299 per night, excluding taxes and breakfast. Quite expensive but, well, that’s a « palace » after all. In fact, beyond the name, the location, the lobby and the prices, it is more a 3- or 4-star hotel than a palace. The bedrooms are definitively not of the palace standard; I have been several times to palaces, but the bedrooms were way nicer and more comfortable. I live in France and, obviously, I woke up at 3am on the first day. First reflex: preparing a coffee before checking e-mails, but... there was no coffee machine in the room! I complained at the reception, and was told that palaces had no more coffee machines in bedrooms (which is wrong of course). The problem is that their breakfast room and coffee shop don’t open before 6:30. I find it shocking for an hotel with international customers, who are jetlagged. Their breakfast room is wonderful but the bill was even greater. There is no buffet. Coffee at $8, orange juice at the same price... I went there with a group of 8 and was charged $570, ie $70 per person on average. The most interesting story is the fridge in the bedroom. If you purchase drinks or fruits outside the hotel and put them inside the fridge, you get charged $35, even if you don’t consume anything in the fridge. On top of that, the staff is not friendly, not smiling. In short, I don’t recommend this hotel at all.

We have previously stayed in two other hotels in Manhattan and have always liked the look of the Lotte as we have walked past.

From the moment we walked into the lobby, the Lotte was everything we could wish for and more. You get a real sense of being in a high-end and luxurious hotel, backed up by friendly first class service.

We were staying in NYC on my wife's Birthday and she was touched to receive a gift bag on arrival. The guy on reception (whose name escapes me unfortunately) was very welcoming and we were delighted to have our room upgraded to the top 39th floor, with a stunning view overlooking St Patrick's cathedral and the Rockefeller. The room itself was extremely well appointed, roomy and spotlessly clean. It is of course challenging to find any hotel room in NYC which is quiet, but ours seem to be the exception to this rule and we had no difficulty sleeping, no doubt helped by the queen sixed bed, luxurious Egyptian lined and wonderful pillows! Other notable features included an exceptionally powerful double sized shower (and certainly the best shower we have experienced - supported by highly effective ventilation), along with ambient lighting (adjustable from a tablet device) and a great sized LG TV. While one of the bedside lamps was not working on arrival, this was immediately fixed. The safe in the wardrobe was well proportioned and provided plenty of space for passports, cash and other valuables. Although not especially required in December, the air conditioning was very effective and quiet.

The Lotte benefits from a stunning, sweeping staircase (reminiscent of the main Disney hotel at Disneyland Paris), along with luxurious dining rooms and a bar. We treated ourselves to breakfast on the morning of my wife's Birthday and, although very nice, my one and only criticism of the Lotte would be the price. US$9 for a small glass of orange juice does seem excessive by any standard!

We would most definitely return to the Lotte for our future trips to NYC and can't recommend it highly enough. Well done to all the staff involved in making it such a special place, especially in the run up to Christmas.

This hotel is in a fabulous location in the heart of Manhattan. One side overlooks St Patrick’s cathedral and whether by day or night it’s beautiful. The welcome was very traditional with a warm friendly greeting by the hotels door staff. The check in at reception was very quick and we were assisted to our room along with baggage by one of the hotel porters. The room was very spacious and we overlooked the cathedral up on the 27th floor which was amazing outlook. The bathroom was great with a bath and powerful shower. Everywhere was clean and fresh. The only thing we could comment on was not to have tea/ coffee making facilities in our room which was surprising for a 5 star hotel. Maybe this is normal in New York? We had cocktails in the Gold Room bar which was an amazing place. The cocktails were good too although at $22 per drink was pricey even compared to London prices. All the staff in the hotel were great, nothing too much trouble and always there to make sure you had the most pleasurable stay. Some might say the decor is a little old fashioned but we loved it. A fabulous building, great location, pleasant staff and definitely worth a visit even if you don’t stay there is is open to the public to take a look inside and perhaps go to one of the many bars.

Yes, they open partially. On a cool evening, that's enough to cool the room but I can't imagine you would want to open them on a hot humid night. In that case, rhe AC is a better choice. The AC is easy to control, i.e., one can easily get the benefits of a temperature lower than outside and lower humidity without being cold.

There are only two bars; you can definitely have a drink without food. Not sure about whether they will allow your son in, but if they don't you can always bring your drink to the really nice lounge area near the lobby.

I've never used a shuttle to the theatre district so I would call the hotel concierge to inquire. There IS a house car/limo available to use for shorter distances depending on whether its in use by others or not at the time you need it. We usually still tip the driver FYI. There are three entrances into the Lotte NY Palace. One though the gates on Madison (but I never use that one). And two others which are on the street at 50th and 51st. Those are much easier to use and only steps from the elevators.
