The Whitby Hotel is my favorite hotel especially when traveling as a solo female. Small and intimate. Everyone addresses me by my first name as requested. Victor and Tony attentive and helpful. Victor (my favorite) gave me a tour of the hotel including the owner’s suite and the private movie theatre downstairs. Restaurant/bar is pricey but lovely. Fell in love with the panna cotta and the house made burrata cheese. Lunch first day for soup, salad, dessert and cocktail was $125. Louis, Manny at desk and Otto as bellman were great wait. Waiter Marco and Carlos welcomed me by name and talked about foods, unique art collection, and the city. Head waiter Pedro was welcoming and Katherine-General mgr stopped by to inquire about my stay and offered me a glass of champagne. Walking distance to theatre district. Rooms are impeccably clean. Hotel is quiet. Housekeeping is quietly attentive of when your room is available to clean. 24 hour room service is wonderful and flexible.
There are hotels that are far cheaper but none with the extras that are standard at the Whitby. It has spoiled me for other hotels in NYC. Despite the price I will try to return.

Had afternoon tea at the Whitby Hotel. It was extra special because of the holidays and their tea room was all decked out for the holidays. Tea was a set price of $ 75 with various tea options. It was nice and satisfying. Bathrooms were private and very clean. Would go again. (Made a reservation)

As a travel agent I have had the fortune (or misfortune) to stay at literally hundreds of hotel worldwide.
The Whitby will rank as one of very best places I have ever stayed.
The decor is unique throughout the public areas (as it is in every room, which I saw when I was given a “tour”).
The staff without exception are charming and helpful and respond to every request with lightening speed.
The room we stayed in, a junior suite, was roomy, bright and beautifully furnished and comfortable.
The bathroom was large and exquisite with wonderful modern vintage replicas of sinks, taps and fittings with a
roomy powerful shower and delightful liquid “extras”. The cupboards were spacious and well lit
Moving on to the bar and restaurant, they were again beautiful rooms almost always “buzzy” with outstanding
service and a very “modern” choice of food.
There is a very well equipped gym in the lower ground floor
And, I almost forgot the wonderful location, virtually on 5th Avenue.
We will wholeheartedly recommend this property to our clients

We stayed at the Whitby for 4 nights over NYE. The hotel is in a great location, close enough to the action but set back enough that you can avoid times square if you wish.
The hotel is beautifully designed, and our room was equally gorgeous with a very comfortable bed. It was also surprisingly quiet considering the location.
Our only comment is that it would be great if there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room and our first day we found an false eyelash in the bathroom. However, this was quickly sorted by the staff who sent a complimentary fruit and drinks as an apology.
Other than this we would definitely stay at the Whitby again when we next return to NY.

Checked in late December after a particularly unpleasant stay at another mid town hotel.

Thank goodness!

Walking into the Whitby is like walking into another world off the grey streets of Manhattan. Kit Kemps design takes you into a fun, colourful oasis with ultra comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms and some impeccable staff members to match.

Great location , a bit too close to phenomenal shopping and to Central Park.

One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve experienced although some wait staff could do with being a little more cheery.

The bar always lively and atmospheric, love the live music! The bar tenders went above and beyond. The new year’s celebrations were wonderful!

Always welcomed so warmly into the hotel by Paul and Jerry.

I will absolutely make this my ‘go to’ when in NYC.

Well done Kathrin & team !

The gorgeous Whitby Hotel enjoys a prime address in the heart of NYC & and is a stones throw from the MOMA and just 2 blocks from Central park. This hotel is stacked with amenities like a Fitness Center, a Drawing Room lined with books ( that I loved), a 300 seat Whitby theater, 2 destination eateries: The Whitby Bar & Restaurant and the Orangery: and foremost, superior designed accommodations. My Junior Terrace Suite was so accommodating with high ceilings, and done up in dozens of vivid colors patterns, oversized steel industrial windows, artwork that was both quirky and elegant, bright patterned headboards and furniture that is a melange of modern and vintage. The pinnacle amenity; however, was the corner terrace overlooking Manhattan rooftops. The bath was fabulous with double sink, large marbleized shower and stand alone tub. The Whitby Bar & Restaurant is the culinary sweet spot of the Whitby as it sports it's American dishes through all dayparts and afternoon tea. The dinner menu showcases food fare such as grilled fish, steak as well as the likes of ossobuco agnolotti. I enjoyed the Squash Soup and Dover Soles. The Bar serves an exciting spritzes menu in addition to a complete list of inventive cocktails. The Orangery restaurant, a beauty, is decorated with ceramics etched with NYC landmarks. It serves snacks and small dishes and afternoon tea.

So, if you want to be surrounded by a great, colorfully designed hotel............then try the.................Whitby Hotel...............stylish & charming, one of Soho's best.

Where to start? We visited the Whitby in August 2022 and still experience after-glow. Everything was a delight from checking in, the Deluxe Room on the top floors to the amazing breakfast and the bone China designed by Kit Kemp which made breakfast a feast for the eyes. Did we mention the delicious food? Even though it was too hot outside most of the times, it was pleasant to be able to open a window. The bathroom was excellent (we didn't miss a tub which we usually do). The room and hotel are as splendid as they look on the photos. Super helpful staff (so helpfull that it is a shame that we have forgotten some of their names). Wonderful mattress and sleep experience. The location is perfect if you want to visit... Manhattan.
The MoMa, Central Park, all a stone throw away. Why not stroll to the Metropolitan Museum or the Guggenheim, about a 30-35 min walk away? We immediately felt at home, and also important: at ease, in this luxurious hotel which was a bit above our means but we had something to celebrate. If we have something to celebrate again we would love to return.

The hotel is beautiful, everything about the hotel is beautiful. My phone calls arranging the rooms were so easy, the reservationists go above and beyond to help. We arrived a hour before check in and they welcomed us and took our bags and showed us to the restaurant until our room was ready which was only a short time after we arrived. The turn down service each night was so nice with the waters and pillow spray bottles. Hand written notes were left in our room to welcome each of us. It’s a wonderful location, the beds are heavenly and the rooms are quiet. We look forward to returning when we’re in the city.

Excellent hotel in midtown with amazing style. While boutique, it worked very well for me for business in the area. I did not like my first room because it was on a lower floor facing the loud street (those garbage trucks at night in the city). I asked for a higher floor and they immediately upgraded me to a terrace room on the back side which was stunning. Nicely done. Service was very attentive and the room service was good (not great) but delivered quickly. Their signature bath scents are superb, beds soft and again I love the decor which feels very residential and upscale.

This hotel, like the others in the Firmdale chain, is charmingly decorated, extraordinarily fresh and clean and a delight to stay in.
The room itself was quite comfortable with a very large bathroom; It had a wall of windows, so it was full of light and generally very thoughtfully designed. The public spaces, the bar/restaurant and the library are just as pleasant to be in. The staff is first-rate and the quality of our stay exceeded that of just about any hotel experience we've ever had. The art collection is whimsical and uplifting. Just a lovely place to be.

Most rooms are king bedded but I believe that they can accommodate 2 twin beds in some room categories. I would check directly with the hotel for more specific information.
