Hotel's Favourite
The staff at this hotel bring their "A game" each and every day! I used Tiger's favorite saying because the US Open was going on when my wife and I stayed here June 11-June 18, and the USGA employees stayed at this hotel. Donald Klemer, the Guest Services Manager, greeted us with a nice gift and a hand-written note in our room acknowledging our 30th wedding anniversary. When we told him we were driving up to Maine, he took the time to recommend some places to stop at, since he was from the area, and now my wife loves wearing her Newburyport hoodie. I'm a Bonvoy Gold Elite member, so I considered all of the Marriott brands available, downtown, along the wharf, and I chose this property because it was slightly less expensive than the properties closer to the water, but it's very close to some great restaurants, and Fenway Park. The rooms are well-sized, well decorated, the layout makes it a quieter hotel. Clean and well-run, like you'd expect from a Westin. The view out of our room window was beautiful. We had several days of activity planned and, on those days, I'd pop into "Ingredients" in the Westin's lobby to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich. On our relaxation day we had a sit-down breakfast in "Bar 10" and the food was perfect, and the view even better to start your day. Sunday morning, we told the concierge we needed to buy subway passes, and he recommended a station (there are several close by) that was a main artery, with staff to answer questions. Sure enough, there were dozens of machines where you could purchase a 7-day subway pass, for $23.50 per person. That was easy, and as we looked at the signs, a friendly staffer walked up and explained how it worked and we had it figured out in no time. That's why the Westin Copley Place is such a great location. We didn't rent a car (except for the day we drove to Maine). We used the subway for everything, going to Harvard and Cambridge, the wharf to catch our fast ferry to Cape Cod/Provincetown, to go to Fenway Park, you name it. I booked reservations at the restaurants close by ahead of time, so after a long day of sightseeing we'd for sure have that already figured out. The Back Bay restaurants are awesome. Like Joe's on Newbury Street and Atlantic Fish on Boylston Street, all close by, just a quick walk. Since it was our 30th anniversary, I planned and bought the entire trip, airfare, the hotel, the activities in February after quite a bit of research and input from friends who've been to Boston. The Westin Copley Place and the staff made our week perfect!

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. Overall it was great, but a notably bad Starbucks experience left a very bad taste in my mouth about how the employees are trained. Upon arrival I noticed a “Starbucks” location right by the front desk (or so I foolishly thought since there was a coffee shop with a big sign that said Starbucks - but more on that later). The first few mornings I wandered the city before work, exploring local coffee shops. Then, one morning I was in a rush to get to work, so I did a mobile order for the Starbucks location that said “Westin Copley Place” on the app. Silly me, I thought that was the “Starbucks” location by the hotel front desk - the ONLY place in the entire hotel I had seen a Starbucks sign in the entire hotel thus far. When I got to the “Starbucks” location to pick it up, I walked around looking for a mobile order pickup spot, but couldn’t find anything. The employees appeared to be intentionally ignoring me, but when I finally got their attention and politely asked where mobile order pickup was, they VERY rudely said “WE DON’T DO MOBILE!” This was quite confusing, and I told them I didn’t understand how that could be because the Starbucks app let me place a mobile order. They yelled back “WE ARE NOT STARBUCKS!!!!” I was going from confused to annoyed that they were being so rude, but I started putting together the fact that this must be one of those annoying places that serves Starbucks coffee but isn’t a Starbucks. Why couldn’t they just politely explain? How would I have known? In any case, I said “Ok, well where’s the ‘real’ Starbucks in the hotel?” They were over the top annoyed that I had the audacity to ask such a thing, because of course I (the person from out of town) should know more about what is in the hotel than the people who actually work there. They kept pointing outside and yelling “RIGHT THERE!!!” I repeatedly walked around the lobby and couldn’t find any other place with a Starbucks sign, and they just rolled their eyes like I was a total moron. Finally I found some kind person in the lobby who gave me directions to the “real” Starbucks that were actually meaningful. It was OUTSIDE of the lobby and down a hall. There was literally no way I could have seen it from the fake Starbucks. I was in such a hurry to get to work that I had to put this whole experience quickly out of my mind. However, I mentioned it in passing to a coworker (who was also staying at the hotel), and she was so shocked by this that she later told the Starbucks cashier that he shouldn’t have treated me that way. He retorted “If you have a problem with me tell the hotel manager.” This makes me think that he firmly believes the hotel manager couldn’t care less and that he can continue treating people that way. Here’s the thing - I get that it’s just a silly coffee. But, why treat me like that? You don’t have to bow or curtesy for me, but for goodness sake, at least give me answers that are helpful. The way they treated me started the day off on such a bad note that it ruined all positive feelings I had about the hotel up to that point. Plus - as an added bonus - it was my birthday that day so it was unfortunate to start my birthday being yelled at for not being able to see through walls or having psychic powers to know all real Starbucks locations. I get that if you work at a fake Starbucks it must be super annoying to have to direct people to the real Starbucks down the hall all day, but how in the world would we out-of-towers know where the real Starbucks is or that the one right by the front desk is the fake one and not the one on the Starbucks app? It just soured the whole trip and made me not want to return to the hotel, which is sad because everyone else was pretty nice - especially the concierge. That guy was awesome. Have him train the fake Starbucks people for the sake of anyone else who visits your hotel, but not for my sake as I won’t be back.

We were upgraded to a river view room, due to rain and fog didn’t see the view until the fourth day. The room was remodeled, with an L shaped leather couch on the 27th floor. Very convenient to restaurants, a market and transportation. It’s connected to extremely high end shops. The room had a coffee maker, nice size shower. Free water bottles were provided daily.

My wife and I had stayed at the Westin Copley Place in July for the first time in about 35 years when celebrating her birthday, We stayed in a River View High Floor Guest Room then, and had such a wonderful stay that we decided to return when I recently celebrated my 70th birthday. We spent the night this time in an Executive Suite - an upgrade courtesy of Irene Yeung, a most helpful Westin customer experience rep - and it may well have been our favorite hotel stay ever. The room was very nicely appointed and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the views were amazing, and it was simply such a pleasant place to be that we didn't want to leave. The hotel's location is excellent, and within easy walking distance of so much in Boston. Based on our two recent experiences, the Westin Copley Place is truly a first-class hotel, and while not inexpensive, it offers an excellent value for the price. We will definitely plan to stay there again the next time we're looking for a top-notch hotel experience in Boston.

The Westin Copley Place is a definite go-to hotel in Boston. The location is excellent. It is attached to the Copley Place and Prudential Center shopping malls. It is in the central business district. There are numerous dining options nearby. It is close to Boston Logan airport. The executive lounge is great. Special shout out to Irene Yeung who meets and greets guests at the lounge each morning. She is friendly and very helpful. The breakfast offering is sold - usually 2 hot dishes like scrambled eggs and bacon - along with hot oatmeal, a selection of breads and pastries, cereal and fresh fruit. The evening offering is basically a full dinner, again with 2 main options, like salmon and pasta, along with desserts. The area is clean and spacious and offers comfortable seating. The fitness center is one of the best around. There's a wide range of equipment, including a cable machine with pullup bars, a range of dumbbells up to 50lbs and kettlebells up to 20kg, TRX, weight machines and cardio equipment. Everything is well kept and in good condition. As a Titanium member, I was upgraded to a Studio Suite. Hat's off to housekeeping and maintenance staff for keeping the room in such a beautiful condition. The only thing I would say could be improved in the room is that if you work at the table, your computer will plug into the wall under the window. This means that when you draw the curtains shut at night, the power adapter gets in the way.

This Westin renewed my faith in hotels. I used to love them, but enthusiasm waned as I became older, more discerning and noise sensitive. Alas, we had to pick a Boston hotel, and The Westin Copley had great reviews. Stepping out of the elevator and into the lobby there was a nice vibe -- comfy places to sit/meet and not overly loud. It was a busy Monday morning, but there were enough clerks to handle guests and our early check-in wasn’t a problem. My first interaction with the front desk was not warm (an abberation), but it was quick. The second interaction was much better. I had to change rooms, and the gentleman who handled this was kind, genuine and patient. We switched from a beautiful quiet room with noisy neighbors to another stunning room with quiet neighbors. So yes, you can hear people in other rooms if they’re loud talkers walking in heels and slamming cabinets. However, staff are trained to handle this and want you to be comfortable. Also, there were no noisy mechanicals, so bonus points! Quiet HVAC with a gentle breezy noise when on, but it was easy to tap off for more silence. River and city views were magnificent, and the elevators were so fast my husband experienced a few seconds of Mal de Débarquement. Location is excellent A++, especially if you want to stay out of the cold. Tunnels connect to shopping and restaurants nearby. Conveniently, there is a huge grocery store across the street so you can buy small items for the mini fridge. Ours was tucked away in a cabinet so it was quiet. There was also a coffee machine. There was no microwave, but there was space for one and I believe the hotel provides them upon request, so call ahead and press zero. Housekeeping. Rooms were exceptionally clean. Also, after checking out I realized I’d left my reading glasses and called Westin. I pressed 0 and was connected with Isabella. She and the housekeeping team found them by the end of the day, with calls from Isabella updating me on the progress! Westin, please keep hiring these people who care about guests are basically the soul of your business.
