Amazing hotel - fab location and outstanding customer service. Rooms are immaculate, spacious and comfy/cool. Rooftop is awesome. Almost don't want to share it so it doesn't get overbooked - it's a great hotel!
First when you walk in it’s not a welcoming hotel , very European , rooms are very cooled, no Decor , noisy, from the garage across the street, I had a room that someone smoked in an , no place for coffee in the morning. When you check in they don’t recognize you as a Marriott member. An supposed to be a Marriott hotel but you never know it , I would never stay here or recommend this place , I planned on a nice weekend with my family an anniversary but didn’t happen here
So for my wife’s birthday and she wanted to go in town, just a quick one night away from the kids, and she had heard that the Envoy on Fan Pier was really hip and cool. It went bad even before we got there. I’m an lifetime Platinum with Bonvoy Marriott so, sure. I made the reservations and then added in a Suite upgrade, you get 5 every year as a member. Got a quick email back that they were evaluating it. Cool. I was not looking for something special; higher floor, corner room. On the date before we were to show up, I called the hotel because I have not heard anything. They said they had not seen any request. I asked if they could give me an upgrade, she saw my status and then quickly said no. I asked if they were booked and she said, yes....odd during COVID, ok. So I called member services and the woman looked at the hotel - they definitely had my request and were at best 20% full, but she could not give me an upgrade only the hotel could do that. No problem, she said they would give us something special for my wife’s birthday. When we go there the place was packed with young hipsters; we brought the age up. They were not staying there though, there were all going to the bar not the roof. We finally got the front desk and the most aloof person checked up and told us the key was in my phone. Got it. Marriott put the room key in the App - cool except it only works 70% of the time. No problem. When I asked for an upgrade, he quickly said ‘nope’ and that was it, he was off to the hip chic with ripped jeans and halter top (in 20F weather). No thank your for your status, no here is a gift - you know the normal things every other Marriott hotel has done for years. Ok - no problem We got up to the room and it was nice, a bit small but a king size bed, which took up most of the room, nice size shower, nice view of the barking crab; it was good. They had given us a bottle of Prosecco- Very nice. We went downstairs to see if we could go up to the roof bar, but it was full - no more admittance. Ok no problem; except as we were walking out the door a gaggle of 4 giggly women (maybe 23-25 yrs old) came to the front desk ask and asked if they could go up to the roof - sure they’ll let you in the previously aloof attendant said. No problem we could be their parents so ..cool. We went to dinner and came back about 11. There was a new attendant. She was a bit more awake, just a bit. I asked her, so how filled is the hotel? She said maybe 20%. I asked if one of the upper corner rooms were available and if we could get an upgrade (I wasn’t going to move at 11pm but why not ask), she said yes, but they usually keep them for paying customers. Got it - now I understand the game. The next morning got up, eventually and went down stairs. A line was at the elevator when we got off, again all going up to the roof bar for brunch. We asked the front desk (new person again) if there was any room upstairs for brunch - nope not today. As a group of 6 packed into the elevator. We got some breakfast and came back. Now I had asked for a late checkout - 2pm and with the status, technically I’m suppose to get 3pm. We got back at 1 and the key on my phone no longer worked. I went back downstairs and they said oh they had checked us out already. Really I said, - doesn’t your system show a late checkout - oh yah, we check people out at noon on Sunday’s anyways was his answer. He finally after several attempts handed me a key to get back into our room so we could pack up and leave. We packed up and came back downstairs, again walking past the throngs of people waiting for the elevator to go to the roof - the rooftop that had no room for us. When I handed him back the key and said thank you - I got nothing, no nod, no thank you back, just took the key and dropped it into a box on the desk. SO, unless you are 25 or going to the roof top bar, DO NOT GO HERE. Rude is one thing, obnoxious yup, but really... NEVER You get one star for location, 1/2 star for the Prosecco and 1/2 star for the room otherwise you get nothing. And nothing is what you guys deserve. …
Was great for a couples getaway. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating of my special request to have a small table, chairs, and dining utensils set up in the room for a stay-in romantic dinner. I ordered a bottle of champagne ahead of time, and it arrived at my room at the exact time I requested. Because the hotel is situated on an incline, our 4th floor suite was not as high above street level as I thought, but the view of the water+city+bridge was still very nice.
No coffee in room unless you request it... asked at check in, never happened.... call next day, it came but was terrible- dining cannot be booked in hotel, 3rd party platform and breakfast must be done online 2.5 hours prior- brings us to lunch and after check out. Great room and great staff
