Sadly had to ask for a room change after I Lysol-ed the whole room only to look down and discover someone's bottle of nasal spray was left under the desk of the so-called clean room. A smear over the non-working light on the side of the bed near the switch. Not sure if that was cleaned with a rag producing the smear but wouldn't the cleaning staff notice the light wasn't working? Asked for water the next day, night bell girl still wearing her coat directed me to the water fountains outside the lobby bathrooms, which were turned off (yes, we're in a pandemic). I asked if I could have the water from the breakfast bags that were laid out. She said, "Yeah, but they're small". There was nothing else unless I wanted sink water. No complimentary bottles in the room. The $55/night parking fee which was half of my $119 room rate came with a gruff mean guy in the morning. I had asked the coat wearing night girl if I could have my car by 7:30 a.m. She assured me she would tell him when he came in at 7 a.m. When I arrived at 7:30 a.m. I asked him at his Valet podium. After asking me what? several times he barked, It's already out there!" Off I went.…
I can't say enough great things about this hotel! Everyone from the Sales Manager, Michael , the front desk and valet personnel, and housekeeping staff have gone out of their way to make my team and I feel at home. This hotel is truly a home away from home with all the included amenities! Located in a great area, there are TONS of local restaurants and stores within walking/delivery distance. I will DEFINITELY book here every time I visit Boston!
Hotel options are limited for getting medical care in the area and this hotel can be reasonably priced (outside of baseball season I'm guessing) and walkable to the hospitals. Per a previous reviewer, there was lots of free parking around the hotel with just street sweeping restrictions (currently Wed 12p-4p I think). Room was very quiet at night in terms of street noise. Kitchenette has cooking basics and pots and pans in good condition. Star Market and Target a short walk away to get groceries. Lots of dining options. Covid breakfast bag (bagel w/cream cheese, juice boxes, orange, granola bar) is good for long day of doctors appts. Was nice to catch early morning from the rooftop terrace with views of Fenway and downtown Boston.
I have nothing but praise for the staff of the Marriott Residence Inn Back Bay/Fenway. An unexpected emergency brought me to Boston, made all the more challenging because of the pandemic. For almost 2 months I have been staying at this hotel which I chose because I knew that Marriott Residence Inns provide kitchenettes and the work space I needed for an extended stay. The hotel has had to make changes because of the pandemic. Breakfast is now a grab bag you take back to your room. Hot coffee is what you make in your room or pick up from a nearby coffee shop. But safety comes first with masks mandatory when walking through the hotel, cleaning frequent, hand sanitizers everywhere. Housekeeping is not everyday but at least once a week and on request with maids using safety measures. Anytime I needed toiletries or kitchen items they were quickly left at my door. I have seen some critical reviews because of the change in service but the room rates are much lower now than they would be in normal times. Boston in non-pandemic days has high demand for hotels and this hotel could not be better located for walking around Boston and nearby Brookline. You have supermarkets, restaurants, and shops outside your door. I have enjoyed walks through the autumn foliage in the Emerald Necklace, a conservation and park area close to the hotel. Kudos to Siena at the front deck and Michael in sales for making my stay great under difficult circumstances. When life gets back to normal, this hotel, its amenities and location will have it fully booked all the time. For now, if you need a hotel in Boston, you will get great service, warm and friendly staff and a spacious comfortable room in a safe, caring environment.…
In the last week I have stayed at Marriot locations in Brookline Coolidge Corner, Quincy, Peabody and right here in the residence inn. Of all the locations this feels the safest, paired with a very friendly and welcoming staff and the rooms are fantastic. Steps to the ballpark, the T and some good eats (though Covid has knocked some of my favorites out of business for now) Great time for a visit and don't forget the roof top bar!!
