My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth on a Friday night for a "staycation". The hotel is conveniently located for a short walk to many restaurants and bars in Boston's Back Bay including Newbury Street. The rooms are well kept, very comfortable and a great value (in our opinion). The best part of our stay was the treatment we received from Nick M. (he represents the hotel very well) who offered us an upgrade since we were returning guests. The service was above and beyond and started the entire stay off on a very positive note. We're planning another Boston overnight in late May for a concert at the House of Blues and Nick's hospitality made the decision to stay at the Hotel Commonwealth an easy one.
Stayed few times and I just wanted to let you know that Nicholas at the Front Desk was extremely helpful and just a wonderful person. He made our stay comfortable and easy. Hotel is very lucky to have people like Nicholas.
No room service, no daily cleaning (unless you request a day before), and no additional supplies in the room (no bottled water, no coffee or tea, etc) - only the toiletries and that's all. Of course I understand that this is a COVID time but I fail to understand how the hotel can still charge "daily amenity fees" of $30/day for no amenities offered. "Daily selection of curated snacks" - not offered. "In-room bottled water" - not offered. We discovered that you had to ask for it only when I went down to the lobby in the middle of night to look for vending machines in lieu of bottles in room. "24-hour business center/fitness access" - closed. "Access to premium, high speed Wi-Fi in-room and throughout shared spaces; In-room Google Chromecast streaming service; Unlimited local and toll-free calls; Luxury Malin+Goetz bath essentials" - aren't these supposed to be part of room charges - can't think of any hotel that has asked for more money for having local calls and bath supplies in the room. …
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with our son and family who we hadn’t seen in almost a year. The staff at the hotel was totally helpful and accommodating. Check-in was a breeze and they offered several Covid-friendly options including a coffee pot in room, free snacks, delivery of luggage to the door of the room, and self park. We asked for ice and clean towels which were delivered to the room in minutes. We loved the location - away from the craziness of Newberry St., but a short, lovely walk through the park in the middle of Commonwealth Ave to Newberry, Boylston, Public Garden, etc. Highly recommend!
