Hotel AKA Boston Common garners commendations for its cleanliness, particularly the pristine bathrooms and modern amenities within its rooms. Its prime location is a highlight for guests eager to explore Boston's landmarks and dining scene. While the hotel's atmosphere receives mixed reviews, ranging from chic to slightly dreary, the amenities like social hours and impressive views are well-regarded, despite some service inconsistencies and limited offerings. Room sizes and cleanliness are praised, yet some guests find the decor outdated and the value diminished due to extra charges.

Beautiful remodel, great location and Nicole at the front desk made check in a breeze and was lovely and super helpful about restaurant recommendations. The proximity to Boston Commons and the Seaport is really nice as well.

I’ve stayed at this property many times in the last ten plus years and am finally writing about my most recent experience.

This Kimpton is one of three in the Boston area and is in a prime location downtown. You’re near everything the city has to offer. Parking is valet only and is pricey like most city hotels. There are garages located nearby if you’re looking to save a few bucks.

I contacted the property prior to my stay to say hello and confirm the room. I immediately got a response from one of the managers, Phil. He was friendly, gracious, and accommodating.

Check in was a delight and felt like I was visiting old friends (though I’d never met these staff members before). Leon and Liz were so kind when I arrived and made me feel right at home.

We were only here for one night this time and stayed in a Hub Suite which has one bathroom with tub/shower, living room, eating area, separate bedroom, and two closets. Spacious for a city hotel. There was only one window in the one we stayed in, but it felt cozy, quiet, and private. The hotel was remodeled several years ago and has Eames chairs, leather, marble, and gold accents. It’s getting a little worn due to guest use and abuse. Still very pretty.

Some things that I love about Kimpton is their loyalty program. It’s free to join and you get internet, a Raid the Bar credit for $10 off mini bar or in house bar charges. They also host a wine hour from 5-6pm nightly. They have social passwords seasonally which treat guests with surprises when given at check in. Kimpton Hotels are my favorite properties and I hope they continue their unique boutique personalized vibe.

My wife and I were celebrating a job promotion with a night out in Boston. We chose to stay at the Nine Zero and could not have made a better decision!

When we arrived it was around 4:00, so there was a short line to check in. However, the manager was very engaging and made sure to ask those in line whether they were checking in or if there was something else he may be able to help them with. Fortunately, we only had to wait a few minutes to check in and when we did, we were shocked to find out that they upgraded us to their Penthouse Suite!! (My wife must have mentioned we were celebrating when she made the reservation).

When we got up to the room we were truly blown away. This is by far the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in! On the top floor with spectacular views of the entire city, the Common, the State House, Charles river, etc. The suite was huge and even had a pool table! We also loved that it was filled with unique artwork and fun items like a record player and a selection of classic records.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable, right in the heart of the city directly on the Freedom trail and within easy walking distance to the Boston common, Faneuil Hall, and a wide variety of bars and restaurants right outside their doors.

We started our evening at the hotel’s restaurant, Better Sorts Social Club and enjoyed some outstanding cocktails. The bar was busy, but not too crowded and had a very cool vibe. Since this is our favorite part of Boston, we stayed nearby for dinner and walked a couple blocks to Yvonne’s (which was also outstanding).

Thank you to the Nine Zero for providing us with a truly memorable experience that we will never forget!!

If you are looking to stay in Downtown Boston at a super clean hotel and experience 5 star service at a tremendous value, check out Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel. I was in Boston for the week 6/2-6/5 and from the moment I arrived, the hotels commitment to cleanliness was apparent from the ever present hand sanitizer to the non stop cleaning of all common areas by the housekeeping staff. My stay had been arranged by Director of Operations Joe Capalbo, and every staff member I encountered went over and above. I found the rooms and bedding extremely comfortable and quiet, and housekeeping extremely attentive relative to room cleaning and towel service. I was fortunate to have a corner room that provided beautiful views of Boston Common, and direct access to the Historic Freedom Trail, The Nine Zero is a relatively new hotel with a hip design and marble bathrooms. As a huge, huge dog lover.....and someone who misses having a dog because of my work travel, The Nine Zero is dog friendly and there is no shortage of super friendly dogs to pat.

Several of Boston's most historic burial grounds and sites are immediately adjacent to Nine Zero, as is Boston's best shopping district and many of Boston's best restaurants. This location is easily Boston's most walkable hotel, as every major destination from Fenway Park, to the USS Constitution and Science Museum is within 20-25 minutes or less,

With regards to customer service, the award goes to Gabby and Liz, who were instrumental in helping me retrieve my cell phone which I left in an Uber. After having great difficulty connecting with my Uber Driver to retrieve the phone, it was finally dropped off at the hotel, after i had returned to Florida, and Liz and Gabby worked to alert me that they had the phone and then helped with arranging it's return to me via overnight shipping.

I travel on average of 100-150 nights per year, and Kimpton Nine Zero is a hotel that rivals any I have every stayed at relative to location, accommodations and service. During these very trying times for the hotel industry, I highly recommend the Nine Zero.

I stayed for one night at the Nine Zero (and was bowled over by the staff. The Keurig machine can be sent to the room but when Phil heard that I drink tea all day and night when working, he went out of his way to get me a stash of English Breakfast tea bags. There's the lovely Yary who checked me in and was available to help answer any questions. Addy prepared the tea tray with the kettle and paraphenalia and brought it to my room. Jorge was always very welcoming at the door when I came back.

The building itself is charming with clusters of rooms in nooks and corners. Vintage picture adorn the wall with matching style furniture. The room was spacious, the bed was firm the way I like it, and the headrest was comfortable to lean against with good reading light over it. Good volume of hot water in the shower.

Nice restaurants, a food court, and fast food within 2-8 mins walk. Check out Bonjour and say hi to owner Driss - a charming French cafe with classics like Egg Benedict, Avocado Toast, and Shaksuka. Offers a 10% discount for hotel guests. Mast serving Italian food, is 2 mins round the corner and they offer 15% discount to guests. Chinatown is a couple of blocks away. Lots of shops 3 mins away on Washington St, as are the T stations Downtown Crossing and Park Street which will literally get you to any part of Boston.

Thank you so much for a delightful stay.

Let me say we have stayed at Kimpton’s in Chicago and loved it.
The Boston location greets you with a dirty entrance which smells like spilled beer, not to mention it is almost impossible to navigate because it is pretty much down an alley. There is no on site parking, valet only, which was not a smooth operation. Took forever!!!
Then when checking in (it is a very expensive hotel) we find out the restaurant is closed, so no cocktails after a long journey there. Not even an offer of water bottles. Get to the room, beautiful city view for sure, but it is very tired looking. Chipped paint on furniture, walls. Needed dusting. Even the shower curtain had a stained liner. No coffee maker or again, water bottles. Asked about ice, we went out and bought a bottle of wine, even the ice maker on our floor doesn’t work and you can’t get to another floor. Asked for a coffee maker for our room by the way, asked if there was a charge, they said no, but they did,$25!!
For breakfast available, they give you a coupon for 10% off at one breakfast place, it was several blocks down and had a line out the door.
Even the hair dryer provided barely worked.
Customer Service is non existent, tried to call several times from the room, no one picked up
Overall, except for the view, it was a miserable stay.
I may have missed other things, but I think you get the idea!!!

I stayed at the Kimpton Nine Zero hotel with my fiancé on March 31 and April 1, 2021. This was unfortunately the worst hotel stay we have ever experienced. On our first night during our stay, we noticed that there were no wash cloths in the bathroom, and the body wash container was almost empty. I called the concierge and requested for someone to bring the needed items to our room. She told me that her housekeeper already went home and I would have to wait until the morning. I called back a second time and explained that we had just spent an entire day traveling and dealing with flight delays, and all we wanted to do was shower and clean up and did not have the bare minimum supplies to do so. I asked if she could go into an empty room to get the supplies from an unoccupied space. The concierge told me that the hotel is “nearly full,” that she is the only one working in the hotel at that time and we really need to wait until morning. Frustrated, I called the agency we booked through to tell them we were already having a bad experience. They offered to call the hotel, and within minutes another person (not the same concierge who told me she was the only employee working) came to our room with the needed supplies.
After returning from a late dinner, we realized that we did not have any water bottles or cups in the room. The local 7-eleven was closed, so we asked the hotel concierge if they had water available. She said that whatever is available on the shelf to the side is what is available at the moment. We pointed out that there was no water. She said “well this is what we have.” We asked if the fitness center had water, and she said no. We asked again “so as guests in this hotel, where are we expected to access drinking water?” She said “I’ll see if we can find some and seemed very annoyed with us. We also found out on our way back to our room that the fitness center did in fact have a drinking fountain with a spout for filling water bottles (so she either lied to us or was misinformed on what is available in the fitness center).
On our last morning, we needed another roll of toilet paper, because we realized that our room only had the single roll on the wall. After calling the front desk 2-3 times and no getting an answer, I had to wait in the lobby for someone to come back so I could ask for toilet paper. I’ve never been to a hotel before where the room is not stocked with a single backup roll, especially when they are not doing regular room service!
Wash cloths. Body wash. Water. Toilet paper. Literally the minimal essentials to any basic hotel stay. This hotel could not deliver unless we begged for these items. The booking agency tried reaching out to the hotel manager to arrange compensation for our miserable stay, and the hotel declined. This was a hotel experience I hope I don’t have to repeat. I’d expect this as a Motel 6 (maybe) but definitely NOT from a Kimpton hotel.

As local residents with the inability to travel for nearly a year and the demanding needs of remote work, we decided to take our work with us and booked the HUB Suite that provides a separate space for us to focus. After extensive research, we decided to go with Kimpton NineZero Boston since they offer a strict protocol on safety measures for their guests and staff — they proved it to us and deserve an above par rating! They even have a table (lobby area) designated for third-party food deliveries. From the front desk staff (Liz, Leon and Joseph) to the maintenance team (Addy and Ming) and valet crew, all have been very accommodating and committed to answer and serve our particular needs. For all coffee/tea and bath robe lovers, it’s completely provided to you all by a simple text message! Unfortunately, room service and microwaves were not available during our stay so we tried to plan when to order food to bring back to the suite (Beantown Bar offered a tasty bfast/lunch/dinner menu next door!). Very good soundproof/Minimal noise from busy street below for being so close (Floor 4) to the Boston Common/Old North Church. Everything has been personalized to help us feel rejuvenated during our stay. Thank you Nine Zero of Boston for your dedication and hard work! All does not go unnoticed.

Spent a few nights earlier this month.

Pros:

Convenient location, especially for people relying on the Red Line. Also good for morning walks in Boston Common. A bit deserted by late evening due to Covid, not a lot of dining options nearby.

Comfortable room-size; dark wall colors worked for me, while the bed, shower, and chairs are all very comfortable.

Room for Improvement:

Free wifi: I mean, charging 13 dollars per day for average speed wifi in 2020 is...a bit too retro for me.

Softer/Newer towels: rather hard and scratchy towels that's obviously seen a lot of usage.

Coffee/Teabags and Amenity Kits: not sure if Covid really necessitates all of these to be withdrawn.

Decor: lots of decor choices in the lobby and corridors that try to be hip but just came off as dated.

Structural Issues:

Really thin walls, can follow a normal conversation or TV shows next door without too much trouble.

The room was very small. The bathroom was cramped and very little counter space. The shower was the best thing about the room - great pressure water volume. Walls were thin - we could hear our neighbor’s iPhone alarm in the morning. There is an information monitor next to the bed - it’s really bright and even if you turn it on it automatically turns back on during the night. The hotel does not have a restaurant and they give you a cup of bad coffee upon request in the morning. Oh and the elevators stopped working but they didn’t put up any signs.

I stayed at the site when it was a Kimpton Property. It has since been acquired by AKA. It would be improper to make any suppositions on my part.

Yes, there is a fridge, but ours was in a corner cabinet and not very deep (so a larger leftover box from a restaurant can’t fit without being turned sideways, for ex). But for beverages and smaller snacks, it worked.
