We visited this hotel during the 2024 Boston Marathon and were very happy with our experience. The hotel is literally at the marathon finish line--the location can't be beat if you are running or spectating! It is minutes from the Copley T stop, Newbury Street, and the Boston Commons. Our room was small (which we expected) but was clean, quiet, and well equipped. The room had a mini fridge (stocked with bottled water) and wristbands to be able to get thru the sidewalk barricades during the Marathon. There was also a microwave near the elevators (which was very convenient) as well as a library wall of VHS and DVD's--I was running the marathon so it was lovely to have a movie to watch to help calm the nerves. The hotel offers complimentary tea and coffee starting at 6a and then complimentary oatmeal, warm pastries, breakfast bars, fruit starting at 7a. The Landwer restaurant opens at 8a and was in the lobby of the hotel. On Race Day, the hotel offered bottled water to athletes and had a fun 'memory wall' for guests to write about their race day experience. We would 100% stay in this hotel again--the location is great. If you are running the Boston Marathon I would 10000% reco this hotel--finish line is steps from the front door and really caters to athletes on race day.

This hotel was not great. Noisy elevator and the sound came into the room. Guests pace up and down the corridor all night, very noisy and rooms are not soundproofed. Hotel decor is dated. Staff were always helpful. Breakfast was old school and not great.

The hotel was very clean and right in the middle of Copley Square. Easy access to metro and walking distance to many of Boston’s beautiful sites. Well worth it. It’s better to have a room for 2 people, but we had 3. One guest used a pull out futon which wasn’t very comfortable. The house keeping staff was very responsive to any requests we had. The coffee and pastries are okay. Not the best but good enough.

I would like to begin with the positives. The location is great, if you want to be in the heart of Back Bay. Two of the front desk staff, Johann and Lilly were top notch professionals, and took extra care of my concerns. Although two other women (don't know names), appeared that they would like to be anywhere else but at the front desk. One who checked me in, was aloof and impersonal. Another, I will site later. I want to be transparent. I worked in public relations in the hospitality business for over 30 years. I represented high end luxury properties and destinations but I knew I was not staying at a luxury hotel so of course my expectations were much lower. Having said that, nothing is more important than the front desk experience, no matter what the rate. Johann and Lilly (and one other gentleman I only saw twice) were exceptional and they belong in the hospitality business, others do not. I stayed a total of three nights, my first two nights were interrupted by constant banging. Lilly did all she could do find the source of the problem but to no avail. It was determined after two nights of this that it was construction next to the hotel which the City of Boston allows from 7 am to 12:30 am. Johann moved me to another room, not fun to move everything for one night but I was exhausted. He couldn't have been more accommodating and did say they probably should have moved me sooner. My previous room was much smaller, neither the TV nor stereo worked and the view was on of the brick wall out of the window. But I never said anything about this because the noise was a much bigger problem. The carpet on the third floor outside the elevator was in dismal shape, still, sleep was all I wanted. When I returned to my new room at the end of the day, the main light did not work, then two men were at my door, assigned to my room. When I called the front desk (this is the other person) she apologized about assigning my room to others but did nothing about the light. I then received an email from her that I received days before confirming my arrival date. When I replied that I had been there for three days she said they had adjusted the rate (it was $16 lower than the rate - how they determined that number I have no idea, I should have been comped at least one night). So instead of bothering to send a new email she took an old one, never changing the date, subject line, content explaining the room rate change - she should find another job. Thank you Lilly and Johann, sorry, I won't see you there again.

Stayed at club level Fairmont Boston in September for 3 nights and now 3 nights at the CharlesmarkHotel. Same excellent location and very updated but smaller rooms. What made the difference was CharlesmarkHotel staff. Met Joe 2nd morning and was so impressed we booked 4 nights next spring. Of course having a great breakfast on the patio at Landwer in front of the hotel was an added plus.

We chose this hotel for convenience to drop off our rental car nearby and walking distance to the Amtrak train station. It was easy to go downtown and to do the freedom trail. The receptionists were friendly and helpful, the room was small but adequate and clean. The free coffee and croissant in the morning were an added bonus. There are also numerous restaurants you can walk to. All in all a good first stay in the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Boston and the Charlesmark Hotel was the perfect base in wonderful Back Bay. We walked 5 minutes from the Amtrak station to the hotel and were surrounded by the best of Boston restaurants and shopping. The neighbourhood streets are full of character and life. Choose one of the rooms (201 or 202) overlooking Boylston Street and the magnificent Boston Public Library and feel part of the vibe. Lily at reception was super friendly and helpful with complimentary coffee and pastries a welcome bonus. Bathroom on the small side is the only drawback and like all of Boston prices are on the high side.

It is located in the middle of Back Bay! Restaurants, shopping, and public transportation are right outside the hotel! Newbury Street is one street behind! The Rodeo Drive of Boston! Boston Public Library across the street! Boston Commons down the street. Friendly staff! Subway stop at the corner and hop on hop off two blocks down. Hotel is literally located at the Boston Marathon finish line! The hotel restaurant is Mediterranean and delicious! Try the Mediterranean Mule! Fig infused vodka! Delicious! Only downside was our room had poor lighting and no window appeal. We would stay again! Side note: Take the 15 minute walk to the Mapparium. It is pretty amazing.
