Some of the nicest common areas you'll ever find. The Lobby especially is beautiful. The rooms are fair at best--dated, no USB plugs, hard to access electrical outlets, no fridge. They are spacious. Most views aren't great. Oh, and our key cards failed like 10 times.

Hotel's Favourite
We were very pleased with the 2 Queen bed Signature room on the Gold floor. The Gold Lounge was on the same floor which was very convenient for us. Room was quite spacious and had lots of closet space. It was newly renovated. Bathroom was nice too. Shower had great pressure and was so comforting after long days doing college tours. This hotel has grand old world charm with modern amenities. Location is central to shopping and sightseeing. I appreciated the extra security to use key card to access our floor. The Gold Lounge had a great variety for breakfast and the evening appetizers were really good. You could make a meal out of it. We always enjoyed stopping in the lounge before and after we returned. Highly recommend and would go back anytime!!

No hot water for shower. Hotel is located at a nice location. Will not recommend any one to book unless you can survive without hot water shower during your stay. Also the room temperature fluctuates and part of the room was very hot and part was less. As hotel is old the ducts and air distribution system is not up to high standards of today’s travel accommodation expectations.

Very nice bedroom. Lots of extra soft pillows as requested. Silver mirror lining falling off bathroom mirror. Shower diverter only allowed for room temp water, too cold to use. Sink tap hot, tub tap warm at best. Told front desk. Too late to fix, as I was trying to shower and check out. Zero attempt to make any comp for unusable shower.

I did stay only for 1 night as part of my business trip to US. Check in was fast and efficient. As Accor Platinum member I did receive upgrade to very nice room even despite hotel was fully booked. Room was really big in size with hugely comfortable bed and exceptional view towards Copley Square and Boston Public Library. Bathroom was generous in size with nice bath amenities. I did receive welcome treat on arrival (see picture) which was very delicious. My room did allow me also access to Fairmont Gold Lounge - it was very nice experience with very good food in the evening in the happy hour as well as very nice breakfast (I would say even great by US standards :) served in the Lounge. Lounge itself although lacking views (strange that in the hotel which has exceptional views they placed lounge mainly overlooking backstreet :)) was extremely nicely appointed in classic Old World style (equally as the hotel itself). So overall Lounge experience was very positive and can highly recommend to pay little extra to have access. Hotel itself is perfectly located in the heart of Boston within waling distance to majority of attractions. Also it is very nice building (dd back to 1912) and has this wonderful Old World charm to it - public areas are just gorgeous - no wonders that majority of Us presidents since 1930s' till our days did stay at the hotel when did stay in Boston and also several movies were filmed there. Staff was friendly and helpful (separate huge thanks to Carolina Sanchez - Assistant room manager who helped me with check in and room/stay arrangements), service was overall very nice, hotel was spotlessly clean. Wifi was free and working very well indeed. I also tried hotel's bar for evening drink and it was very nice as well. Overall, I truly enjoyed the stay and can recommend to everyone who is looking for luxurious retreat in the heart of Boston.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location, but did not meet expectations. I was visiting for a conference, but stayed an extra day to see the city. Three times I went to the hotel restaurant for dinner and it was too full to get service without a 2 hour wait, so I had to find another place by braving the Boston winter or order room service. The food prices were insane -- $9 for a cup a tea. The ice machine on my floor was broken. I called the front desk but they never fixed it and had to bring ice to my room 3 times.

Amazing grande dame of a hotel right in the heart of Back Bay. From checkin to checkout I had a wonderful time. Cori, the black lab keeps watch in the lobby and Joe the concierge got me tickets to a great concert at Symphony Hall. The bell staff is friendly and helpful and service in the Oak Bar is great despite the big crowds. I will definitely return and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Boston!

Stayed for a night, it's a really unique property in a great part of town. The stay itself was a little bit chaotic, though. First, I was given a room that was already occupied by guests which was obviously shocking for everyone involved. Then there were two huge events taking up most of the lobby so half the elevators weren't accessible. The room itself was comfortable and quiet; given the place's age there a few quirks (like finding charging outlets). On check-out day, I started getting door knocks around 8:30am and again every 20 min or so by housekeeping to try to turn the room. Impressive property with a big name brand but has some serious management challenges. Even the most modest motels are organized enough not to give someone a key to an occupied room.

It was nice to be in a place that had some individuality. I loved the black lab that hangs out in the lobby (even though I'm not a dog person.) The Fairmont was built before technology overran our lives so there are not plugs all over the room. You may have to search a little. As a tea drinker, I loved the kettle in the room. Overall a good place to stay.

This stay was beyond all our expectations, from the second we got our room at 9:45am!!! (Instead of the usual 3pm check in time) to the second we left this was an experience that was out of this world! We have chosen the gold experience, this was a phenomenal "hotel within the hotel" and everything from the breakfast and afternoon snacks every day to the service of the staff that was beyond words especially Sophia who simply impressed us so much with her experience and professionalism, people like her are the reason why customers come back! WOW.
