The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are newly renovated and really clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We have stayed there two times now and will return. They offer really reasonable rates check their website.
If you are visiting the Back Bay or other nearby downtown locations and won't be driving, this is a great location. Also affordable for such a location compared to other properties nearby. The latest renovation (ca 2020) is good quality in the rooms and look great. That said, services whether from Covid or new owners are lacking. I generally don't stay in places with lots of services, but this was really bare bones. There is no information in the room (like literally no text in any form) as guest information, so you have to ask for everything you need to know. The onsite restaurant is not open but appears to be in active renovation. There's no coffee maker in rooms, so I brought my own electric kettle. There is a guest kitchen that's pretty decent (advanced coffee maker/hot water, sinks w/dish soap, microwaves, tables) but I couldn't initially find it, affecting my dining choices like whether I could reheat leftovers. The in-room fridges were great. I had a queen size room where I was fine alone but would probably be tight quarters for two people. My mattress was quite worn out with poor support. Clean room and common areas with daily housekeeping service. My room facing the interior of the block was quiet even with the window open. The air conditioning went out twice during my stay with unseasonably warm weather, hence the open window. …
Hotel was lovely and clean as was our room. However, we had an assisted room which had a bath not a wet room, as such not suitable for wheelchairs. No tea/coffee facilities in the room. They were however provided in a room off the lobby which looked like a work canteen. This not being disabled friendly due to having to go up and down from room. Bathroom ha nowhere to place you wash things. No chair or wardrobe. They did have a pole sticking in wall with hangers on. Staff friendly and helpful, a few excellent restaurants within walking distance. However, they were on the expensive side. Subway was well within walking distance to get around town.
The hotel does the job and their front desk staff are very accommodating. Comfortable, Clean, centrally located to quality restaurants and shopping. If your in town and need a comfortable place to stay you can find it here!
We were in town for a weekend and only stayed at the Copley for one night. For what this hotel charges, I was surprised that this is considered 4-star. We were at a Mariott the night before with more amenities. Positives: Comfortable Queen size bed, cute retro style fridge. Cons: The room was incredibly small--the bathroom was the size of a small closet. No luggage racks. No coffee maker but there was a kitchen on the first floor with a coffee maker. We didn't see any creamers, cups, etc. No views-and I booked this 2 months prior to our stay. The Copley Square Hotel can definitely use some upgrades. It's definitely an older hotel, but it's not worth what you pay.
Not horrible for a bare-bones hotel It is hard to believe this is considered a 4-star hotel, as there are virtually no amenities, rooms are small and lack basic features such as coffee makers, dressers and luggage racks, and common spaces are non-existent. Service was good, beds were reasonably comfortable, TV and wifi worked. But that's kind of the baseline expectation for such a property. The rooms that used to be the fitness center and laundry are being used for storage, the elevator that works is extremely slow, and the cafe-restaurant in the corner space is not open. Note that the property was sold in late 2019, so every review before that date should be considered obsolete. At the time of the sale the Copley Square Hotel was described this way: "Built in 1891, the Copley Square Hotel is an historic boutique hotel that provides guests with modern amenities, including large room layouts with 250-degree city views, 1,500 square feet of meeting and event space, a 24-hour fitness center, nightly wine-down hour and 11,800 square feet of retail that includes 2,800 square feet of vacant ground-floor retail and a lower-level nightclub." Virtually NONE of this is true any more. Modern amenities? Meeting space and fitness center, nightly wine-down hour, retail and nightclub? No and no. No, no, no and no. This is far from the jewel that it once was. The best thing about the Copley Square Hotel is its location.…
Clearly fallen on hard times over the years. Our small room on the 7th floor came with no luggage racks, two chairs that were so uncomfortable we had to sit on the bed to read, one small towel rack for hand towels, none (and no hooks) for bath towels, no phone in room (how do you call the desk?), no coffee in the room or downstairs (the bar/restaurant was closed for repairs, unannounced when we booked). Many better and newer hotels nearby. To top it off, we got an email from the manager this morning requesting a review, but only if we give the hotel 5 stars. I can understand this from an Uber driver, but a hotel?
Booked here because we wanted to stay in the Back Bay area because we heard it was one of the nicest places in Boston. Picked this because the price was cheaper than other hotels in the area with similar reviews. We had a Studio King and the room was all we would want, a nice big comfy bed, nice TV, and a nice living area. We got to the hotel around 90 minuted before 3p and our room wasn't ready. No biggie left the bags with the front desk and retrieved them when we got back from getting a bite to eat. Came back checked in, they said that there were waters in the room and that they had an area for coffee or tea in the morning in the lobby. All of that was true. The worst part was paying so much for the parking, but that's staying at a hotel in any city. The staff we dealt with at the front desk, were mixed. The two women when we first got there weren't the friendliest. When we came back the two younger men at the desk were friendly and fun. Wish they would have a soda machine or something, but there is a supermarket next door. Would definitely stay here again.…
Absolute garbage service. We had a death in the family and the front desk/service reps showed zero compassion to even try to work something out. Once they have your money, forget it. Exact words they said: “We get this all the time.”
The room smelled very strongly of mildew. Poor Wi-Fi, no amenities (ie coffee, breakfast, workout facility, pool) for nearly 400 dollars per night. Very limited lobby, public space. I would not recommend or go back.
