I've never left my heart in San Francisco, until this trip. We've stayed at beautiful properties, including The Palace, but I've never found San Francisco to be warm or approachable - or fun. It's big, with a lot of restaurants and places to visit... but somehow it always just seemed a little cold. This trip was totally different, and I can only assume that it started with our home base in the museum district. The St. Regis is just next to the SF Museum of Modern Art in the SOMA neighborhood. Granted, a few blocks either way and you might be a bit uncomfortable with the neighborhood, but SOMA is lovely. We didn't walk great distances, but we found the neighborhood to be centrally located and really manageable. While our visit was during COVID, things weren't all that they usually are, although our suite was beautiful (yes, I was able to upgrade through our Marriott status), and the service was sublime, but the restaurant wasn't open, and the bar only opened late in the afternoons for service. Still, I found the front desk staff to be helpful and knowledgeable, and eager to ensure a wonderful stay. The Concierge was also helpful and efficient. Leaving this hotel left me feeling like I couldn't wait to come back, and that was a new experience for me in San Francisco. I really cannot recommend highly enough.

Really friendly staff at this property. I was impressed by their willingness to be detail oriented, from the thoughtful bell staff, the great check-in at the front desk, and the diligence of the in-room dining team. Also, great Marriott Bonvoy elite recognition. My only quibble is that I would have loved for overnight laundry to be available on property (I think it was discontinued because of COVID). Otherwise - you are doing a fantastic job, St. Regis team! -From a loyal Bonvoy Ambassador

Perfection and incredible service every day for a week. Daniel Rey, chef concierge was extraordinary. Housekeeping staff was perfection as well as everyone we came into contact with. Extremely careful and followed strict rules regarding Covid.

I recently stayed at the St. Regis for the first time. It was a one-night stay and it is now my "go to" hotel in San Francisco! Things I appreciated about this hotel: (1) Top notch service - Concierge Caroline and front desk staffer May were both standouts. Caroline made recommendations and reservations for us. Her suggestions were spot on!! Thank you Caroline! Front desk staffer May went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay; (2) Cleanliness - Our room was spotless; (3) Covid safety - The hotel's Covid protocol made us feel very safe; (4) Great location - Walking distance to many great SF sights.

I have stayed at this hotel a lot, at least 6+ times during the pandemic mostly due to the fact it was one of the only hotels open in San Francisco during the height of COVID. I had previously pre-CoVOID cease staying here because of the hotels propensity to misrepresent. There is no question that it is poorly managed. During my last stay in July, I dealt with Cava (Director of Luxury Sales or something) and Dixon (Front Office manager - who never responded to any emails - it is unclear if she actually exist). Despite being Titanium Bonvoy, no upgrade whatsoever was provided, the room was not very clean, the front desk argued about the breakfast benefit, refused late check and otherwise tried to haggle over standard Bonvoy benefits. When I raised my concerns with Cava, she initially said that they had upgraded me during my earlier COVID stays, but now that the hotel had more guests don't count on any upgrades going forward. When I further questioned the lack of Bonvoy benefits, she ignored emails. Dixon never responded and the general manager has never responded to me or to my knowledge any other guest who has had an issue at this hotel. To my shock, when I further complained to the executive offices of Marriott, I learned that the hotel (Cava/Dixon/Front Desk) lied about the facts claiming that I had demanded the metropolitan or presidential suites. instead of the one room (not suite) category that comes with my Marriott status. Marriott corporate has thereafter not responded. This used to be a nice hotel, never great, but good. Its decline is stark and a bit sad, but what is more sad is a management team that either ignores guests, denies entitled benefits and lies about the facts. Any hotel or management person at that hotel that would lie about things as insignificant as a room upgrade would likely lie about COVID exposures, cleaning standards, billing, data breaches, etc. Be careful with this hotel!
