Great place to stay!!! We really enjoyed our stay here even though we didn't have any children with us it was still a relaxing vacation. Our room was fantastic, had a great view of the ocean and pools, there are a couple of pools and hot tubs. an adult only pool and hot tubs, so if you want to get away from all the kids you can. there is a lazy river along with a inner tube slide and water slide. the beach there is great, never feels crowded. there are a couple of restaurants on site kinda pricey but there are a couple of places to eat within walking distance. there is a parking fee (unless you're DVC member) so be prepared for that. Loved our stay can't wait to go back.
We are DVC members and this is our home resort. Lots of activities for kids and adults - canvas painting, shirt painting, Aunties (kids club), water slides, lazy river, yoga... and Disney characters (Moana, Stitch, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Duffy - didn’t see Daisy). They are the only place I’ve seen ocean yoga (yoga on a paddle board). Food at Ulu cafe is very good (poke bar, pizza...). Food delivered to room or pool side is sub-par (long time, dry, over cooked...). People save pool chairs all day. Who sits at the pool from sun up till sun down? Nobody... but they’ll (“e-cigarette guy”) save 7 chairs for a family of 4 all day at the beach and at the pool? Yup this guy tried to smoke e-cigarettes too at Disney Resort! The towel people remove those that aren’t at their chair sometimes but someone really needs to crack down on chair hogs!…
Beautiful resort with activities for everyone if you care to participate. I can’t say enough about the pool and beach access. Restaurant are VERY pricey but plenty of other good places nearby to eat for less money. We have gone every two years since it opened and will continue to every two years. Can’t wait for next time!
Our family booked our stay at Aulani for the end of January 2020 months in advance. 3 weeks before our arrival we received an email stating that there was going to be a movie filmed there during our stay and how we should prepare for this ( the parts of beach closed off during the filming including the adult pool as well as one of the restaurants and just how to avoid being in the way of the film set and crew). I immediately called the resort as we had booked away from Waikiki to be away from the business and wanted something peaceful which this sounded nothing like anymore. The person I spoke to knew nothing about this and asked that I send her the email so she could look into it. After a day of phone calls and emails I asked if we could check out a couple days earlier so we can avoid the filming at the resort but still keep the same rate I had paid. Nope. She told me they are not offering any compensation for this and I should look at booking a different rate on their site( all of which are more than double what I paid now). So I've had to cancel our reservations and rebook elsewhere 3 weeks before our trip. Not cheap. My kids are extremely disappointed and so am I but I refuse to pay double the price because of something completely out of my control. Thanks Disney for ruining this one. It should have been dealt with in a much different manner and I will never return here or recommend to anyone.…
Pros: 1BR suite very spacious and comfortable. Food at pool was pretty good. Kids club. Daily housekeeping did an awesome job cleaning the rooms. Overall, kids really enjoyed it. Cons: Umbrellas at the pool were scant, prime chairs were taken early by folks coming down and placing towels on them and not using for hours. Seemed as though non-hotel guests were using the pool and nobody was policing it. Concierge were not friendly. My son cut his foot pretty badly at the pool and they didn’t do much about it other than give us some bandaids. For the money, we wished we had stayed next door at the Four Seasons, where the beach and pool chairs were plentiful, restaurants weee better, and staff were much friendlier.
"Ask for the EWA tower on the sixth floor for an ocean view. Ask for a room near the elevator, the floors are very, very long...."Read full review
