“A chic boutique hotel that feels European in its intimacy, Asian in its aesthetic and Hawaiian in its geniality” - Hawaiian Airlines

Paia Inn is located in a beach town on the stunning north shore. This Small Sensitively-Designed Inn integrates modern amenities with historic Hawaiian character. In a nod to the town’s plantation days, the building’s exterior has retained its rustic charm with tin rooftops and understated hues, yet the interior mixes contemporary island furnishings with a chic lushness begging you to unwind and unplug. Matte charcoal concrete floors highlight designer furniture collected from Asia, while rooms feature organic botanical amenities and luxe furnishings.

Paia Inn’s signature dining experience and Maui News’ 2019 “Best New Restaurant” Vana. Enjoy craft cocktails, an impeccable wine & sake list, and Japanese-inspired Izakaya menu with sushi & tapas. Renowned for its white sand beaches, lush waterfalls and stylish cafes, Maui’s north shore is where you want to spend your Hawaiian vacation.

Strolling the streets of Paia, you’ll likely cross paths with world-class surfers while window shopping in one of the many designer boutiques or island-inspired art galleries. Relax in our private beach lounge with a cold coconut water and your favorite book. At Paia Inn, opportunities for indulgence are never hard to find. Now offering boutique weddings & events.

Due to missing our flight out of Maui, my daughter and I needed to find a place to stay for one night. I didn't want to go all the way back to where we were in Ka'anapali, so I pulled out my phone and asked Google, who led me to Paia Inn. I called to confirm that there was availability and Flo invited us to come by and check it out. We called an Uber and Flo met us at the door, welcomed us in, and gave us a choice of the two available rooms. What a lovely place! The front lobby is bright and welcoming and filled with a spa-like scent. The rooms are clean, cute, and chic with upscale soaps, lotions, and bedding. The decor and lighting are artful, a little boho--a little modern--a lot classy. Upstairs was a small communal lounge with water, coffee, tea, and snacks. Kathrine showed us to the private beach access and we couldn't believe the view! There's a small courtyard with lounge chairs and a small table and chairs. There are beach chairs available to take down to the beach, which is steps away. We sat and watched the surfers for what seemed like hours until the sunset and we went for dinner. The small town of Paia is perfect. Lovely shops and great food. Flatbread Pizza and Paia Market in particular. The next morning, we took advantage of our bonus time and went to the beach until we had to leave. I will be returning to Paia Inn on my next visit to Maui. It was the perfect accident and I'm so glad our flight was delayed and my daughter and I had this experience.

The location was convenient to the airport and some restaurants, but we ran out of hot water for the shower, were charged surprise unwaivable fees at check-in, were kept up very late by lots of noise (which the staff blamed on the enclosed restaurant but when we went down to the restaurant, it was closed and quiet), and the rooms were tiny and uncomfortable. Also, Paia Inn charged us for “beach access” when the law in Hawaii provides that all beaches are free to the public. Edit: Paia Inn got in touch with me after I wrote this review and made a generous offer to address the above-discussed issues.

Loved our short stay at the Paia Inn - it was quaint and comfortable and like an adult version of Narnia - we found our way through a gate to a lovely secret beach where a sea turtle welcomed us. I’m actually not kidding! The property also had several cozy gathering areas where guests can relax. It’s central to many wonderful shops and art gallery’s. Our only regret was not checking out the on site restaurant- Vana!

The good: - Location: Right in the heart of Paia town, which made it easy to walk places. It was a great jumping-off point to drive up to Haleakala and into Makawao and Kula. We didn't do the Road to Hana this trip but it's at the start. - Vana Paia, the inn's restaurant, had great sushis and cocktails and a hip atmosphere. -Awesome "hidden" beach access path with a fire pit area at night (was too wet for us to use it but we warmed our hands there for a quick second) and lounges, a beach and foot shower, beach chairs and towels you can use. A honu (sea turtle) was sleeping right at the entrance when we went one afternoon and we spotted another in the water. Beach was not at all busy. Loved this part of the inn. -There definitely was a hip vibe to the decor and furnishings and we liked the big flat-screen TV that swiveled to face our bed and that you could log into your various accounts to stream shows/movies. -Front desk staff and bellman/cleaner were friendly and always greeted us with a warm smile. Our room was above the restaurant. The live music our second night was louder than the recorded music our first night (made hearing our TV at 9:30pm a little tricky). We knew going in that we would be hearing restaurant noise based on the room description so this wasn't a big deal but something for others that would care to note and maybe take a room on the opposite end of the inn. The not-as-great: -The town view deluxe room (a step up from the most basic room) was a good size but showing some wear and tear. -There were water stains on the top wall of our closet, seemingly from an old leak. -The room fridge got a bunch of condensation on the outside of it when we didn't leave the closet door open on that side and we wiped up the ground to keep the condensation drips off. -The walls are kind of scuffed in the bathroom and the tub has that slight brown tinge to it near the drain from time and use (that probably doesn't scrub off anymore). -The shared Nespresso-type machine in the kitchenette for all guests to use was on the fritz our second day. -We came back to our room at 1:30 pm on our full day between our two-night stay and it hadn't been cleaned. The cleaner was cleaning all the other rooms on the hall with doors open. We asked for more towels as I wanted to replace the clean but stained ones (with a few brown spots on both bath towels) we got the first night. We were thankful for the 10% kamaaina discount. But for the rate we paid ($600+), I think the room was overpriced. If we'd been paying even $400/night I'd have felt better about the issues mentioned above. There's also a $30/night amenity fee that covers internet/parking/beach access with towels and chairs, and Maile Organics shared (not individual) conditioner/shampoo/bath wash toiletries, which again I'd have felt better about paying if the overall room rate had been lower.

Paia Inn was so cute. Great location in the heart of Paia. The room was quite small but who spends that much time in the room with so much to see. The bellman was so very helpful & kind. Loved the winding path to the beach. Bonus, we got to see Sea Turtles! Second Bonus, the Vana Restaurant & Sushi Bar was right below!

Absolutely incredible wouldn’t even describe this place. From the moment we entered that driveway to park my wife and I knew this place was gonna be incredible. We had been touring Maui for 10 days till this point and had so many wonderful experiences but the Paia Inn set the bar to an amazing new height. The receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. A seamless check in and a very pleasant walk around of the facility. The room was quaint and well cleaned with a wonderfully firm yet soft bed that felt like laying in the clouds. I personally loved the coffee machine that was just outside our door. The beach amenities was so perfect for us as the beach is so important to us to be able to relax and chill. We Loved the outdoor shower And sitting area. The short walk to the beach was so cool. Parking was always easy and accessible. Really want to that Paia INN for the hospitality and warmth. It was the highlight of our trip. Thank you. We would definitely come back. Cheers from Calgary Ab

What a venue, lovely location access to a small perfect private garden overlooking the beach, sea & rolling waves. Room we choose was ideal, just adding to the whole relaxed vibe of Pia & the hotel in general. Hotel has a restaurant open to the pubic, was warned of music playing there until 11pm, but could not even have been more peaceful, was never an issue, but nice touch to at least be advised of this when booking. Very well looked after, staff & team could not be more helpful. We had a couple of small issues with the room, very minor, but team arrange maintenance right away. Whole team was very welcoming & friendly, whole place was so relaxing & welcoming.

This Inn has amazing design, excellent staff, and very cool comfortable vibe. Owner Sarah is amazing - natural born hostess with the mostess! Felt like a classy home away from home in the cool town of Paia. The beach path is very “secret garden” with many awesome nooks and crannies on the way to a beautiful beach that feels very private. Will return to try the top rated restaurant soon!
