Just steps from the picture perfect Napili Beach and overlooking neighboring Moloka’i and Lana’i islands, our resort is within walking distance to both fine and casual dining, the Kapalua Coastal Trail and Kapalua Golf Courses, nature hikes, and multiple bays suitable for snorkeling, paddle-boarding, surfing, and more.
Unlike other boutique resorts in the Napili, Kapalua, and Lahaina area, Napili Surf Beach Resort is ranked #1 by travelers on TripAdvisor and provides a relaxed, community-oriented, and eco-friendly setting for guests to unwind, disconnect, and truly enjoy their Hawaiian holiday.
The property features beautiful oceanfront grounds, two solar heated swimming pools, three barbecue areas featuring new grills cleaned daily, complimentary wireless internet, and electrical outlets on lanais. Napili Surf Beach Resort is a non-smoking property. Please note that we have limited complimentary parking.
We had a great a vacation. The place was clean. Had lots of amenities. BBQ grills to use. Outside dinning tables. Pool. Location was right on the beach. Lounge chairs to use by the pool. Laundry room facilities. The staff were great. They had yoga a few times a week.
Stayed here with an 18 month old and really enjoyed it. The drive from Kahului Airport to here is roughly 40 mins but a very scenic drive through the mountains and along the coastline. We stayed in the units closer to the beach which open up to most of the property up to the beach. We will definitely be coming back here. The staff was great, accommodating, and probably the most interaction I’ve had with hotel staff. The night we got there Paul introduced himself. The resort check in is very hands off and you should have your room info via text message prior to even arriving which really helps not worry while your family is waiting to move stuff in. The resort has limited beach chairs, equipment for kids, some adult games, and even hosts some events. We really enjoyed letting our little one run around the resort as it was fairly fenced in with beach access. The grass and general property is very beautiful and sunsets on this side of the island are beautiful, even behind Molokai. We stayed in a studio with a kitchenette room. The kitchenette had pretty much all you could ask for in a kitchen for meals, and the coffeemaker and on-site coffee made it wonderful. The room was well decorated but not too spacious if staying with more than 2 adults and older kids. The bathroom is very spacious, and the table only sat 4 inside with 2-3 chairs for outdoor picnic table style dining. There were lots of tables near the beach and propane grills (and accessories) to use if interested in grilling. If you need groceries Napili Market has fairly overpriced groceries nearby, but there are more further down the highway. The beach access is very convenient, especially if your are on the ground floor facing the beach. Second floor balconies offer some decent views but the stairs down wrap around the back of the building and require you to go through a gate to get in. For nearby dining, the Seahouse we weren’t able to get reservations for, but there’s a shaved ice shack open various afternoon hours nearby, Kitchen 5315, and The Gazebo in a nearby resort that could keep you fed within walking distance. Absent those, Lahaina is about 10-15 mins down the road and there are multiple resultants nearby there. Most of our dining was in the room with the exception of dinners. The biggest gripes for the property were lack of central AC and not more accommodating for infants. The property didn’t have any cribs available so we brought a pack and play. The pool was too deep, and there wasn’t a infant-friendly portion except the steps leading to the deeper part. The AC unit while helpful was loud and obnoxious and pretty much had to be run most of the day to stay cold. The settings are a little confusing and auto doesn’t seem to work at all. When we stay here again we won’t stay anywhere but the first floor units facing the inside property. The access to the inside property courtyard is definitely worth paying for, with quick access to the beach, pool, outdoor dining, and events.…
The Napili Surf Beach Resort is a hidden gem of Maui. I say hidden because while it is on the west side of Maui, it is tucked in Napili Bay and away from the giant international branded hotel mega-resorts. Nevertheless, shopping, world-class dining, and hotel mega-resorts are only about 15 minutes away. Although I've traveled widely, the staff's ability to anticipate our wants and needs was remarkable. The GM, Tano, and his lovely wife, Angela, make this resort feel like we came home. It is great for kids, too, especially the little ones who might need supervision in the gentle surf of a family-friendly beach.
Clean, well appointed room. Modern appliances. Beautiful bathroom. Excellent views and easy beach access. Convenient outdoor barbeque grills. Beautiful grounds and landscaping. Wonderful snorkeling on the edges of the bay. Responsive staff (we had an issue with the internet in our room which was resolved immediately).
We were so happy to stay here! We didn’t arrive until 10pm but the hotel staff emailed us all we needed to know to check in and the code to unlock our door. We were so glad that we did not to have to keep track of a key since we were almost always snorkeling! Our room, 222, was literally just steps aways from a gorgeous beach. The bed was large with tons of comfy pillows. We always had a ton of fresh towels. We would he happy to stay here again!
We had our 40th wedding anniversary in July. So, we brought 3 other couples with us. We wanted especially to stay at the Napili Surf because we have been there many times before. It is just such a special resort. If you want to feel like you are in an old time Hawaiian resort with no high rises and a family experience.....please come here. Everyone says hello, they have breakfast on one day a week and they have a cocktail hour on another. Just so special.
This boutique resort has it all except restaurants but there are many within walking distance. The General Manager, Tano, is an islander who instills deep pride and respect for Hawaiian culture…deeply insightful. Napili Surf Resort is quite but overlooks the waves with beach access just a few steps away. Rooms are air conditioned but it’s lovely to go to sleep with the sounds of the breakers in your ears. I don’t know how they do it, but the staff seemed to anticipate our needs and questions. If I could award more than five stars i would. We already have our reservations for next year.
This small hotel is located on a lovely, uncrowded beach. Our studio room was exceptionally clean and had everything you could need for cooking and dining. Drawer and closet space were abundant and the room was attractive and well-appointed, with multiple fans and plentiful lighting. However, I could not give this hotel a 5 due to a few issues we experienced. First, our room smelled extremely musty, which was especially unpleasant for us due to environmental allergies. We finally traced the problem to the air conditioner. I reported this to management, but the problem persisted, and so we weren't able to use the a.c.. Second, the wi-fi was spotty and cell phone service non-existent. This was a problem since we were there with a large family group and were unable to communicate except via text. Overall, the good definitely outweighed the bad and I would recommend this hotel.…
We stayed at this resort for 9 days and overall I had numerous pros and cons during our stay. The 1st con was when my boyfriend went to the front desk to ask for more hand towels, the gentleman at the receptionist desk rolled his eyes and seemed very annoyed and dismissively said someone would stop by our room. Not the biggest deal, but took us off guard since the request was very simple and wasn’t urgent. The 2nd con was my retainer was thrown away by the housekeeping staff. I brought it with me and took it off in the middle of the night to take a Tylenol and placed it on a napkin on the wooden headboard above our bed. Not realizing the next morning was a housekeeping visit, I didn’t put it in my case and it was tossed in the trash. This is really unfortunate because replacing a top and bottom retainer will cost a lot of money. I’ve alerted a representative of the resort and they of course said their staff couldn’t recall throwing it away and that I should recheck my bags when I got home (of course I checked and it wasn’t there like I thought). The 3rd con was in the beach bag that was provided in our room, we found an old, obviously previously worn pair of Women’s underwear in the zipper part of the beach bag that we unfortunately put our phones in. It’s not a pleasant feeling to reach for your phone to realize your touching someone else’s dirty nasty underwear. We threw the underwear in the trash near the Sea House restaurant and quickly washed our hands. This incident showed that the beach bag wasn’t inspected from a prior visit, and our hands paid the cost. The 4th con was we didn’t have cellphone service or cable tv access for 2 days because of a modem issue. It was later resolved by a nice lady at the front desk, but was inconvenient nonetheless. The 5th con was there were two days where the housekeeping staff did not empty the trash cans (kitchen area and bathroom) which I thought was weird being that it was full. I had to take the bags out of their cans and place it by the front door for pick up, which you don’t expect to have to do on vacation (pictures attached). The final con was there were two incidents where I began showering to realize there was someone’s else hair embedded in the thread of the towels (hair wasn’t mine, picture attached). My biggest pet peeve is hair on towels that aren’t mine, so that was icky. Pros are the room was stocked with everything you need (though I would recommend providing an iron), the sheets were clean, and I loved the fans in each room. There’s plenty of lighting throughout and I loved the full kitchen complete with a dishwasher. The quick access to the beach was wonderful and it was nice of the resort to provide plentiful beach towels, beach tubes/noodles, etc. The resort is also conveniently walking distance from a restaurant called Kitchen 5315 that had excellent food! We all enjoyed the one complimentary breakfast, coconut demonstration, and Mai Tai event during the week as well. The room also had a nice patio area near the pool and I really liked how pool hooks were on the patio so you could hang your wet swimwear to air dry. Overall, I would recommend this place as most of the cons listed could be resolved with more careful inspection/awareness.…
I can’t begin to say enough good about this place!! We are a family of ten and recently spent seven nights at Napili Surf. We rented three units. Each was beautifully decorated and immaculate, inside and out! Everything we could possibly need or want was provided. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our visit was perfect. While there we had an emergency situation come up and everyone there was so helpful and followed up with us. Beautiful and perfect for our family in every way!
