First, they made us wait 5 hours for a room even thought they knew we were arriving early and we communicated it prior to arrival. Then, my toddler picks up a large, gross toenail from the floor. Finally, we wake up to realize that the bed sheets have stains (yes, plural) that we did not make. I went to speak to the concierge about this because it was barely our first day there and this was already our experience and Giselle was the least caring, most dismissive concierge. After expressing my frustration, she purposely made it a point to be even more curt and unhelpful. Believe it or not, there didn’t seem to be a single manager in this place because they made me wait TWO hours to speak to someone about this. Disgusting place, rude staff. Never going back. What a waste of money. Too bad they don’t do half star reviews.

I am giving this stay a lower rating because of the room assignment. I am an owner at this resort but I booked with Abound points for 3 nights with a Wednesday check in. I always make a room request, knowing it is not guaranteed. As a Marriott Vacation Club member, I usually get my request or close to it at all the various resorts I have stayed at. At this resort, I did not get anything close to my request. I was in the oceanfront category, which costs thousands of extra points. I probably should have saved points and stayed in a lower category. We were on the 3rd floor of building 5. It was set back and half the view was of the pool and the other building across the pool. The ocean part of the view was over the restaurant. The ocean view was still nice but hard to classify it as an oceanfront view. The front desk told me that if you do not use your owner week for exactly a 7 night stay and you book at anything less than 12 months out, then you will never ever get your room request. Now that I know this, it will impact how I make future reservations.

We came here on a time share advertising trip the first time a few years ago, came back and then purchased an oceanfront week for biannual use on Redweek. The last two times we came with our kids (and even a grandchild now). We love it. It is paradise again and every time. Serene, relaxing, gorgeous sunsets, perfect climate. We buy all we need at Costco upon arrival. Check in is easy: get the keys at the front desk and go to your rooms. Everything is always in good condition: clean, beautiful, practical. You can cook in the units as well as do your laundry there. The grills are wonderful for grilling some fresh fish (highly recommended). There could be more pool lounge chairs towards the ocean: there is always a bit too much competition for them. Renting things can be a tad expensive. There is excellent snorkeling directly in front and a wonderful beach about 300 yards to the south. I do not understand the negative reviews here. WiFi was always working. I hardly needed to talk to someone at the reception, and when I did, people there were always friendly. Know what you rent or buy, when you do. There is Oceanfront, Ocean View and “Island View”. The latter is fine, if you are mostly at the beach or doing stuff, and do not care much for a great view.

We own oceanfront with Marriott. I made reservation in first few seconds when reservation window opens, Marriot system just allows you to reserve but never completes transaction cause process failure., we ended up with a room in the back that should not be category oceanfront with sewer system in front. I’m close to file a class action lawsuit for discriminate reservation process by Marriot. No management response even after multiple contacts.

This place is awful needs to be remodeled. All of the staff are rude. Don’t waste your money go to the Hyatt way nicer. We were there for a week no Internet the room that we had was thrashed with no view screaming kids the restaurants there are horrible. We definitely will not be coming back. Good luck you’re gonna need it.

Unfortunately the one star reviews are warranted for this property - not an owner, just a (one-time) visitor. I agree with others regarding the lack of cleanliness, frustrating check-in experience, and overall uncaring attitude of the employees. The internet has been down for 3 days and when we inquired as to when it would be up again we were laughed at and told “we’re on an island.” Both Westin properties to the right and left of us have internet. One bright spot was the service at the Spa (not the Spa amenities themselves) - helpful front desk attendants and amazing estheticians.

I just returned from a 7 night stay at Westin KORN. I'm ready to book another trip. I was reading the reviews of all 3 Westin locations I was nervous. Much ado about nothing. This resort is incredible. Just Book It! We arrived on a Saturday evening. Two people ahead of me at check in and 2 check in agents. I waited about 30 minutes. When it was my turn and they started the check-in process I began to understand why it takes 20+ minutes to check in everyone. They review everything with you when you check in. This was my first time at the resort so I appreciated all the instructions, maps and details. We parked and went straight to our room. No problem due to the thorough explanation at check in. We booked an island view. We were amazed when we looked out the balcony. I was dark but I was like babe that looks like the ocean. We left at 3AM for Haleakala so we still couldn't see if we has an Oceanview. As soon as we returned I ripped open the curtains and yes indeed we had an Oceanview. Thank you God for this small answer to our prayer. We loved our Oceanview from bldg 7 and floor 5. The room was well appointed and we have no complaints. It's larger than your average hotel room. It was plenty big enough for my hubs and I. People complain about privacy in the bathroom but all the sliding doors close so I don't quite understand the complaints. SMH! The key for us is you can close the door to the bathroom and shower from the sink so we both could get ready. We didn't use the jacuzzi tub but my hubs fell in love with the rain drop shower. The kitchenette was a full kitchen that you could cook anything in there. I checked for pots, pans, bowls, utensils and plates. Plus many other kitchen gadgets. If cooking is your thing on vacay you will not be disappointed. We only used the bowls, silverware, pitcher, micro/convection oven and dishwasher. We don't cook on vacay but it was nice to warm up leftover food. The crazy thing is I started to bring a few items to cook. NOPE didn't happen but I could have easily prepared several meals very easily. The resort is clean and you run into people cleaning throughout the day. Let me address the trash issue. Ladies and gents there are trash receptacles and recycle bins all over the resort. They are on every floor, at every elevator, and each breezeway connecting the buildings. They have signs telling you where to deposit your trash and recyclables. We ate out every day so we had trash every day. We took our trash and dumped it in the trash receptacles like we were supposed to. Easy Peasy. Do not leave your trash outside of your door. Take it to the trash receptacles on your way to the elevators. Ok. I'm getting off my soapbox. But leaving your trash outside of your door is nasty and lazy. There is no reason not to dump your trash every day. I used the beach boardwalk most days. North is a great location for the boardwalk. Headed towards Honua Kai is fine. The boardwalk is next to the beach. However, headed past Westin South you zigzag through several beach resort properties and not along the beach. I didn't care to see bldgs and walk through other properties on my walk so after my 2nd day I just stayed on the boardwalk and when it dead ended I would just turn around or walk directly on the beach. We ordered on site one time at Auntie's. It was an omelet and breakfast potatoes. It was fine but we enjoyed all the other eating establishments on Maui. Plus we always had leftovers from the night before that served as our brunch. We rode the shuttle bus one time to Lahaina. We're glad we did because we didn't know their was an outlet mall. The shuttle was fine. Get a shuttle schedule when you check in. The busses are nice, comfy, clean, plush seats and reminds me of the coach busses but not as many seats.

Rude pool staff and undertrained front end staff. When we complained that the pool staff repeatedly checked on us asking me if i was staying in the hotel and not believing me. Do they think all their guests are liars...I felt so sad i was in tears after going to the room. My husband was so upset. We paid for a 6 day vacation. thank god this trip is over.

This had been our favorite property and we have been here many times, but while we enjoyed ourselves this trip, there are improvements needed. We have previously stayed in a one bedroom and this time had a suite, but the room was fine. We had oceanfront with a nice view of the pool and the ocean. It’s more the feeling that they are short staffed (probably, as thats obviously an issue across the board right now) but also maybe financially strained? PROs Nice rooms Large bathrooms, separate room for toilet/shower Plenty of amenities in the kitchen, lots of room in kitchenette, and supplies for using the BBQ Great view; and you’re right on the beach Nice fire pit with entertainment there on certain evenings Nice location You can use pool at Nanea, (which is quite large) and it is within walking but you wouldn’t want to have forgotten anything in your room, or want to go clear back to your room at lunch Self parking is easy and convenient CONs Check in took FOREVER with 3 painfully slow personnel, and a long line behind us Room was not ready until 5pm, rather than the 4pm check in time It took a LONG TIME to get our things to our room. Well over an hour after we got in our room… now it’s after 6pm Way too crowded. There are more people than these pools can possibly accommodate. The adult pool is hilarious, this tiny little pool tucked away in a dark (and I mean dark) corner The chairs at the pool are shoulder to shoulder and you have to get there by 6:15am to get a good spot There are signs everywhere saying you can’t leave your chairs for more than an hour but very spotty security, sometimes tagging chairs and never coming back to them - super inconsistent The BBQs are only at adult pool and pirate pool and could be greatly improved The cleaning in pool area is non existent. The same toddler floatie was in the pool across from our room the entire week we were there, unclaimed. If the pool was being cleaned it would be removed. More sand and dead bugs than most pools There is no real pool service. Once in a great while someone came by to ask if we wanted anything There are no real activities here anymore; a volleyball net with no games, no water aerobics, and no snorkel training like there used to be. We aren’t in to the activities, but it just feels less vibrant in general There is still the pool bar but the restaurant hasn’t been open in ages The tv in the room gets cable. You see Netflix and Prime and might spend ages trying to sign in until you find out you cannot The internet speed here is painfully slow. Don’t bother. If we came back we’d stay in a one bedroom but that wouldn’t change any of the “CONs” listed and I’m afraid we’ll have to take a break from this property and try other options.
