My husband and I booked a ten day vacation at the Maui Westin Resort and Spa. Honestly I can’t think of a bad thing to say about the entire stay. We loved it. We had an ocean view room on the seventh floor in the Ocean Tower and we were able to watch whales right from our balcony. You could tell that the hotel had been around for a while by the room size and configuration but everywhere in the lovely hotel had been completely updated and the room obviously had new furniture, decor, the bathroom had been updated with a great shower, and it and the entire hotel were spotless. The bed was heavenly. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I would like to give a shout-out to our housekeeper Ursula (not sure of the spelling). Sometimes it’s the small things that help make a trip special. Ursula kept our room spotless. She always greeted us very cheerfully when she saw us in the halls and gave us some very good recommendations. She made a large hotel feel very personal. The location of the hotel is excellent, right on the beach and right next to Whaler’s Villeage. The multiple pools are amazing, especially the sand bottom adult pool. The entire hotel is simply beautiful. The have coffee in the lobby in the mornings and we happened to be walking through when they once served cookies and once banana bread. They might do that more often but I’m not sure. We ate at all three restaurants, if you include the food market, and they’re all good. The egg and bacon or sausage breakfast at the market is huge so many days my husband and I would get one to go and split it while sitting on our balcony but there is seating right by the market too. Any issues were minor. They could have better room coffee makers and the small refrigerator is very small. They do give you refillable water bottles and have a couple of refill stations which is very nice but sometimes I want cold water and that fridge doesn’t hold much. This hotel might not be paradise but in my mind it’s pretty close. …
We have been loyal to this resort, bringing our family here almost every year since 2009. While I was alone yesterday a man pushed himself into my room. seeming confused, he stood in doorway. I said firmly “sir, you’re in the wrong room!” He stood there looking past me into the room… Fear kicked in, I braced the door open and yelled, “Get out! Get OUT! You’re not in this room. Get out!!”. He did not move. Fully terrified, I managed to push him back and was able to pull the door shut. Acting confused, he walked acting in the direction away from the elevators. Choking back tears I told the front desk. While the desk agent was kind, his insanely ineffective, unhelpful response, “Sorry that happened. The man is sick. His wife told us when they checked in.”. And the kicker, “Let us know if it happens again”. Seriously!! Again?! I’m furious.…
Westin has been our family's first choice forever! Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms, Fabolous environment. Pools, gym, restaurants were amazing. Cozy bed, clean bathroom and shower. No compliant whatsoever.
I stayed here during spring break and felt it was the perfect fit for my family with teens. I debated back and forth between staying here or the wailea area. I tend to like luxury resorts so it was a struggle. I am so thrilled I landed on this area. If you have teens with you they can walk right outside onto a quite long path and run to get a smoothie or to a big shopping area. They can also walk the beach and rent paddle boards, snorkel gear, or snorkel right at black rock. It’s all within walking distance. In spite of being spring break we were always able to find a chair by the pool. There is a full Starbucks right on property. There are two stores selling g surf clothing and resortwear. There is a koi pound. The pool area is expansive. We rented a corner suite in the lanai tower with the lounge access. It was just perfect even with five of us. It was far more spacious than I anticipated. We were in room 1088 and appreciated the view. I have no idea how you get this room but we were over 2088 and that room has its own hot tub. We were able to request a roll away to the room and the suite was worth the splurge. The lounge itself is gorgeous and has a really cool wading infinity pool and nice seating area with a great view of the beach. Having access to drinks and snacks all Day was great. Don’t expect as generous of a lounge as other concierge lounges. There wasn’t any basics like cereal in the morning. There were genially a few small offerings. Still we make it work for breakfast. Don’t miss for those with kiddos that there is a little cooler with ice cream sandwiches and popsicles available all day. This definitely saved us some money on the trip being able to have the kids grab snacks. Not as many kid friendly choices as I’d like still it worked out. Lastly if you have a room credit as part of a package please be aware it’s only good at very specific locations and has to be used each day. I found myself spending $100 in Starbucks on merchandise one day when I would have just lost my credit as we hadn’t eaten on property. There is a market and bar with food that you can use it at which was good as long as you will be there. Spa prices are pretty high but it can be used there as well if you want a splurge. For a family with teens I give this two thumbs up. We saw whales from our room every day all morning and in evening. Bring binoculars if you can to see them more close up.…
Location was great. Right on the water with pools that looked really great for kids complete with slides, etc. We were 120 in our group and they seemed to have us pretty much staying in the original tower which was perfect because that's where the majority of events were held and it was raining for half the time of our four night stay. All the help was friendly and efficient and we made good use of our balcony. Lovely walking in both directions. Whaler's Village shopping is right next door. We managed without a car although it was $100 cab ride from the airport. Well worth not having a rental we would not have used. The one thing sorely missed in the room was a magnifying mirror. The bed was very comfortable with quality linens. For each day you forego servicing of room you get 1000 extra point. They also offered us an upgrade to the newer tower for about $350 per night, but we opted to stay in our assigned room. Apparently the tower rooms are, of course, not only newer but larger. The restaurant on the beach/pool side was great with excellent service and reasonable prices, although got a little close because of the rain. …
My family and I recently booked a 1 night stay to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It is her favorite kiddie pool and slide on Maui. Napua checked us in and was amazing. She was very informative and very polite and accommodating. We were very happy with our villa location as we had a great pool and ocean view. Monique at the towel hut was also very accommodating and helpful. We look forward to staying here again in the future.
Stayed 3 nights. Beautiful resort property. Landscaping, pools, and beach are outstanding. Our room had a great view. Room was decent size, but bathroom kind of small. Would have been better if 2 queen size beds were an option. Instead we ended up with double beds. 2 adults sharing a double bed was not comfortable. Typical with resorts, the on property dining options were very expensive. The food quality did not live up to the high price. Nearby restaurants in Whaler's Village were no different. If we ever come back to Maui, I would probably not choose the Westin again. I think there are other places better suited to our preferences.
I’m one of those people that counts on honest reviews…so here is mine … When my husband surprised me for our 23rd anniversary with this hotel i was super jazzed… i called to upgrade to the newly renovated H towers which i’m and of itself was a nightmare (this was the universe telling me!). My rationale was since we were already spending the money let’s get the full 5 star treatment right?! Nope … We don’t normally stay at Ritz or four seasons properties because it’s super costly… that being said the Westin and the especially the newly renovated H tower sell themselves as true 5 star service..Nope …. The room… it’s a lovely room granted but certainly not worth the price …. it wasn’t until the end of our week stay that we got the amount of coffee creamer and sugar we asked for many times.. toiletries are said to be available which they were not until i called and asked many times .. Silly insignificant things you may say… i’m just sharing.. There is no turndown service ( i don’t really care about this but some people do) especially at this price point.. The lanai access…. they build this up so much… it’s not at all what i expected…. you still have to pay for food and drink… I know i sound like a complainer… i just wish i would have known before i made such a big deal to my hubby to upgrade … not worth the extra money.. It’s a very busy resort without the personal touches … Caroline at the front was super helpful in trying to help us and make our stay amazing .. Many of the staff could not be bothered.. There’s more nit picky stuff but bottom line .. if you’re going to spend 1300 a night and expecting to be taken care of, fussed over…5 star service…don’t stay here.. Lastly when checking out the “gift” they offer…?? it’s a chance to give them some more of your money for a timeshare property… like a dummy i paid the deposit of 200 for a return stay at a condo down the way because it was only like 1600 for a week… The gal said someone would call and give me more info…. that was the end of january…I’ve heard from NOBODY…. so now i have to call them and figure it all out… I’m just saying… I was so excited about all the 5 star everything and that is not what we experienced.. and yes i get Maui is costly but we should have left feeling taken care of……
Something like that never happened to me but looks like Westin does regularly discriminate against group of people to the extend that they do not do the sales presentation if you do not not "meet" their "standard". I am suing them for discrimination. I am also looking to see if anyone else had same experience and it could be a class action. Here is the text message I sent their concierge right before departing back to CA. That should summarize it well: Unfortunately your sales team denied presenting and asked us to leave after we checked in on time at time slot allocated for us. We waited 20 min for a sales representative while other parties who arrived before us also were waiting for their Sales representative to arrive . Eventually a person approached only us and claimed they do not have any representative available and it might be longer before someone is available. The person who identified herself as a marketing lead with name tag "Alexandria" noted that Westin considers our commitment to attend a sales presentation fulfilled and they prefer to offer us "gift of time" instead having us wait longer and learn about Westin vacation club . Very reason we agreed to come to Maui. Meanwhile many other guests who were awaiting a sales representative remained in waiting area . While surprised and disappointed, We also shared our phone number and agreed to remain on premises to receive a call when a representative becomes available as we were eager to learn more about options available to us to vacation at Westin properties, but we never received any call. It was very strange to deny only our family the opportunity to learn about Westin vacation club after it was planned for over 8 months ago based on invitation we received from your company. We are writing you while awaiting our flight back home to make sure your company is well aware that you made it a very a memorable trip on Westin vacation club! Despite the cost and time we spent it never fulfilled it primary purpose ! Besides humiliating treatment. Please let us know what prompted your staff to elect our family as "not a fit" and deny us a sales presentation. Maybe we can change everything that your staff found "unacceptable" so we can improve our chances on buying timeshare with other companies!…
Having been in Hawaii for 2 weeks. The Westin Maui was our last stop. It's a huge hotel with many activities, I just wish check out was as seamless as the very classy Kahala resort we stayed at prior. Especially since we upgraded our room on the spot for another 1k. One of the hotel managers and worker spoke to me in very condescending tones. At one point the employee told me I "wrecked her brain" I didn't appreciate the whole process. I was merely trying to understand our bill. Some advice would be to have patience with all clients. We had an amazing time at the Hawaiian luau, met some great employees and banquet manager, I'm sure they'd be disappointed t know this occurred. It's too bad, I don't think I would recommend or stay at that hotel again.
