I've been staying at this Hyatt since I was a kid. Now, as a 49 year old dad with kids of my own, it was amazing to see the happiness on their faces as they had the best time at the Hyatt. That same happiness I had, and still have as the memories of the Hyatt came flooding back. From the Grotto bar (which was under construction) to the penguins and everything in-between! This property is my favorite anywhere!

Hotel's Favourite
Booked a package through Costco… great price and value for an ocean front room with airfare, rental car, free breakfast buffet for 2 per day and a $250 dining credit included. Our family of 4 loved our week long stay at the Hyatt! I spent months researching resort reviews before selecting the Hyatt which seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews and most of our “must have” features when selecting a hotel. Here are some things we loved about this resort: 1. Two Queen beds. Most other hotels had doubles. 2. Fantastic storage space for 2 adults and two teenage girls. There was plenty of closet space as well as lots of drawers for us to completely unpack all of our luggage and hide the suitcases under the beds. This is unique feature for most standard rooms. It really helped us feel completely settled in and was so nice not to be tripping over 4 pieces of luggage in our rooms. 3. Great bathroom with lots of shelf’s to put away 3 girls makeup bags and toiletries. Lots of counter space and more storage under the sinks too. Mirror was well lit and we enjoyed that the shower and toilet were in a separate room so hubby could shower and not steam up our mirror! 4. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the pool is open 24hours and heated! Not super warm but nice enough that it was still refreshing in the heat and no goose bumps! Many other hotels do not heat their pools. The pool slide was fun. Pool service was always friendly. Sometimes we had a longer wait than ideal because they were busy but our servers were always friendly and pleasant. We rented a cabana one day and a day bed another day so we had zero pressure of coming down early to find chairs. The cabana day was awesome. Beautiful and relaxing view of the ocean. We even left a few times for a beach walk and a Lei making class. It was nice to come and go and have a home base to order food and drinks and nap in the shade. They do provide 4 extra lounge chairs you can pull around the side of the cabana if you want to get some sun as well. A couple other days we would come out early and grab a couple chairs without issue. If you came out later in the morning it would definitely be more challenging to find chairs but even on the days we came out in the afternoon, we always found something, even if it was further away from the pool. 5. We loved that you could walk to whalers village. About 15 min from Hyatt. We got sick of sweating so a couple times we just Uber’d over and that was quick and easy. My girls loved shopping there. We really enjoyed eating at Monkeypod and Hula grill. We also did the Sea Maui dinner cruise which takes off from there, so this was a very convenient location. 6. We enjoyed the convenience of the pool towel kiosks around our hotel. This was a super easy way to grab and dispose of our daily towels. Very efficient system! We also liked that they give you a wristband you wear that serve as a waterproof room key. 7. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel grounds were gorgeous. We would let our teens walk around on the resort together and always felt safe. We loved the birds and penguins and the girls loved having the shaved ice on site as well as the convenient gift shop for quick snacks. We loved the coffee place too. Sometimes there were long lines but they moved quickly. We often enjoyed some delicious pastries and specialty coffee on our room balcony in the morning. 8. Location is great. We could walk if we wanted to whalers village but on a couple days we took our rental car to Lahaina, to the Surfing Goat Farm in Upcountry, to the Costco food trucks, and Fleming Beach. 9. Great staff. Our bellman gave us a full tour of the property after we checked in. We loved getting the fresh Leis to wear. We were pleasantly surprised that they had left fresh flowers and a card on our beds to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Such a nice gesture many hotels don’t offer anymore. Other observations : 1. Yes the beach area is pretty narrow right in front of the hotel. A fact many other reviewers have already mentioned. But honestly, you can just walk 5-10 minutes to your right and find great beach spots very near our hotel. The beach front issue was not a dealbreaker for us, especially with all the other outstanding features the Hyatt offered. 2. We loved our ocean front room. The views were spectacular. We were on floor 15, which is actually the second floor of the hotel. We were in the center tower in the middle of the resort, directly over the pool and special event lawn area. Some have complained about the noise level from weddings, etc. We stayed 6 nights (Tuesday through Monday) and encountered this issue one night only. There was a corporate sales award event that was extremely loud … they had loud drums with dancers and lots of very loud speeches over the microphone. Even with our sliding door closed and the tv full volume we could hear it all like it was inside our room. It was actually pretty comical since the speeches we were listening too were almost cult level crazy but that’s besides the point! This would have been very annoying if it has gone on all night but fortunately they wrapped up around 10 pm which we thought was completely reasonable. The other wedding that happened our week was in the day time so other than seeing their beautiful set up below us, we weren’t affected at all. I would advise if you are super sensitive to noise and like to go to sleep early, ask for a room further away from all the action. For us it was a non issue. 3. Some have complained about the Buffet. The Costco package we got came with two breakfast buffet a day and if you didn’t use them, you lost them for the day. So our fam of 4 would rotate daily with 2 of us ordering off the menu instead. The buffet was fine. Nothing over the top great but not bad either. Kids liked the options. And yes, overpriced but welcome to everything in Maui. . But let me tell you, the items we got off the menu were fantastic. The eggs Benedict was great and the Kahulua pork hash was so delicious we ordered 3 times while we were there! Ranking of area places we ate from most loved to least : 1. Monkeypod 2 Hula grill 3. Down the Hatch 4. Umalu at hotel (loved the poke nachos and hurricane fries). Pasta and pizza were tasty too. 5. Japengo. (Just okay, not worth the money spent…. We’d go to monkey pod again instead) Sorry for the long review, but I appreciated and relied on other review for months while we were planning, I thought I should return the favor for anyone who likes details like I do, especially when it comes to the rooms! This was by far the most expensive family vacation we’ve ever taken. Costco was an excellent value and we compared the cost of buying each part separately and Costco will save hundreds if not thousands when you bundle airfare and rental car. Maui is outrageously expensive but we knew that when we were saving up for this experience. Whatever you think your “spending budget” is for food, drinks and activities, just double it! Lol. Having said all that, we had such a fun vacation and loved this resort. We would absolutely Recommend to families looking at staying at a resort.

The Hyatt Resort in Maui was wonderful. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The breakfast buffet was great! They changed up the selection daily so you had a variety of foods. I love the towel machines. They had towel dispensers thru out the area making* it easy to access towels and return them by using your room key which was a bracelet. Would definitely return to this hotel!

This was our second visit here and it was every bit as a good as the first. The hotel entrance has a wow !! about it. simply beautiful, breathtaking, etc/ Had an ocean front room on 20th floor that was worth every penny. Overall a very clean and well run operation. Great service...a shout out to Tom, Max, Brittany and the staff at the Tiki bar for outstanding service. Tiki bar is located at the Hyatt Residence next door and guests can use their facilities. Spent lots of time at that pool area as it was a little calmer than the huge pool at the Regency. Also kudos to Jeff who checked us in and Jimmy who helped us with a late checkout. Excellent location and easy to get into Lahaina by Uber. Excellent breakfast buffer at hotel. Used gym and spa most days and they were solid. Highly recommend this hotel property.

Good doesn’t outweigh the bad. I wanted to like this place so much but overall, there are no many negatives. The Good: the rooms are clean, modern and thoughtfully designed. The balcony on the room is a nice touch. The scenery is nice. The Not So Good: This is not a quiet or convenient hotel. There were kids everywhere at this hotel- you cannot escape all of the kids and their noise. The pool cabanas look a lot nicer in the photos. In reality they appear to be rundown. They are not private. Located next to the kids pool and the restrooms are a ways away. Also there is no beach access near them. The pool and all restaurants on site are down a steep staircase that is slippery. I tripped twice. The beach is really not calm enough for swimming and there is no life guard. Warning signs are posted. Probably the worst part about the hotel is the parking and the noise. There are 2 options for parking- pay $25 per day to self park and walk far or pay $40 per day for valet and wait a long time while the valet walks far. You have to park then walk uphill about 0.25 mile and cross the street. There is really no parking for check in since the front of the hotel is very narrow and always jammed with cars waiting for the valet. It’s quite inconvenient. There is no food available for in room dining between 11 and 5 pm. There was construction in the lobby around one elevator so this limited the elevators in my tower to 2. The tower I was in had a central atrium which is the main walkway to all food, the pool and the beach. It’s loud and it echoes in the tower since it surrounds the atrium- noice just goes up and every room opens to this atrium so I can’t imagine there is a quiet room here. I asked for a quiet room. Hard to come by here- this is a very noisy place. There were roosters across the street so you hear them first thing in the am and all day. Oh and people did that save a chair with a towel and disappeared so there were no seats at the pool. Definitely not the quiet, relaxing and stress free vacation o was looking for. I left on day 2. I couldn’t stand it anymore.

If you don’t want to be charged for everything then done stay at this resort. They charge for parking, pool towels, to sit in certain chairs by the pool and ocean and have daily fees just to stay at the resort. If you do stay here be ready for a lot of charges on your card when you check out.

This was my first trip to Maui. I spent 2 nights in Hana and 5 nights in Lahaina, and it turned out to be a perfect trip. Initially, I wasn't sure about the hotel's location, but Lahaina proved to be the best area with its beautiful waterfront walk. I believe it was worth spending 2 nights in Hana as well. The hotel itself was very nice and clean, and the staff were amazing. The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean. The buffet breakfast at the hotel's restaurant offered one of the best buffet breakfast experiences I've had in any hotel, with a delightful view. They also had self-parking available. There are several restaurant options near the hotel, catering to various price ranges, so you can find reasonable prices.

Had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort for my husband’s birthday. The room was very clean and quiet. The house keeping staff was very nice even though we opted out of the cleaning every day to get Hyatt rewards points. If we needed anything we would just ask the staff. The first night we were there we had to call to the front desk because there was some other guess were very loud having a party, but it was taken care of quickly by the security. We had breakfast included with our package provided by Costco and it was very nice. It was a buffet, but if you wanted something different you can ask the server and it was taken care of quickly. We loved how the hotel provided beach chairs and umbrellas at no charge. As for parking we opted for the self parking because it is 25.00 instead of 40.00. The walk down to the self park isn’t that far, but trying to find a place is a little tricky. One thing that is annoying is how they want everyone to attend the time share presentation. We went ahead and did it to get the Hyatt reward points, but it’s not something we would consider buying into. Like I said our room was very clean and updated, but they need to get new carpet throughout the hotel. Better yet get rid of the carpet and just have tile in the areas near the restaurant. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we are in Maui.
