This hotel is in a somewhat odd neighborhood. Some run down building and some new hotels. Very nice park to walk in. We enjoyed the stay. No AC was a concern but turned out to be a non issue with open door to the balcony and a fan. We slept very well. The staff were friendly, parking was free, the room included a large fried, microwave, coffee maker. Make sure you get a room facing the pool and not the other side which faces an ugly residential building. What could be better, even for this price? The wife was pretty weak. The door locks did not give much sense of protection. The balcony door could not even lock. But all in all we had a great stay here.

If you want a high-end vacation don't stay here. There is no AC, no elevator, and it feels kind of like a dorm room with cinder block walls. But if you're just looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay, it's perfectly fine. It also has some advantages you wouldn't necessarily expect from a hotel of its class: there are kitchenettes in the rooms, and it is truly right on the waterfront. The adjacent park is on an extremely protected bay with absolutely no waves and would be appropriate for younger children. I had a great breakfast at the Coconut Grill, which is a short walk away.
This hotel is right next door to a run-down, poorly run apartment complex. We endured a tenant yelling profanities one night all night, several barking dogs at any time of the day, and teenagers laughing and yelling in the parking garage at 5:15 a.m. This hotel is in desperate need of paint, a secure key system (still use metal room keys), new carpeting, and actual room numbers on the room doors (they had press-on sticky ones in the door jams). The pool has a "Closed" sign on the gate at all times. When we asked why it wasn't open, the front desk clerk said it was, but they leave the sign on so (get this) guests will ask if the pool is open and the front desk can keep a count. Seems like there could be a better system. We were looking for an inexpensive hotel, which This is, but it wasn't worth feeling unsafe and annoyed most of the time. …
If you are in search of a cheap hotel I recommend you splurge a little more rather than stay here. Recently my family and I came to the Big Island to spend a mini vacation together. When we got to the room the first thing we noticed was the floor was not cleaned well. For context their rooms are tile. The second my grandson stepped into the room he complained about how sticky the floor was and when we passed by the cleaning staff cleaning another room we all noticed they were using vacuums to clean a TILE floor. The second thing that was unsatisfactory was on the third day we were there we had left the hotel for almost 6-7 hours. When we returned we all noticed that the floor was still in the same condition as we left it. I wanted answers immediately so I asked the cleaning staff how come our floors were still dirty? They answered, "Because of COVID we clean every room every third day." Not to sound unreasonable, but due to the COVID outspread shouldn't they clean everyday for health purposes? Also if you cannot handle the heat or do not feel safe leaving sliding doors open do not come here. There is no A/C and they only give you one stand up fan and one ceiling fan whose speed cannot be adjusted. Overall I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.…
This place is ancient. It’s noisy and small and needs updating. That being said, the people are nice, security guard was fun and vigilant (we never felt unsafe) and it was clean. Won’t be staying again.
Our trip to Hawaii Island, and 1st post COVID. Hawaii is still entrenched with COVID rules including HIlo Reeds - they checked our vaccine card. Price was comparatively good, but overall inflated. +s : good sized room, nice included kitchenette and full sized fridge - this was very good. Close Free Parking. Beds were comfortable Ceiling fan satisfactory, wifi satisfactory - s: Old, drab walls,, no bathtub, no AC, flooring ugly, no decor, noisy during the day, poor exterior. This was only the only places could find at about $150/night. Real value should be $100, but it was satisfactory considering other hotels were at least $60 more at the time.
The location of the Hotel is very good, only a mile away from the airport. From the hotel , bay is visible . There is a small park at walk able distance from the hotel. The big Banyan tree gives the hotel a unique look. From outside it looks simple, but the rooms are spacious and has small kitchenette with plates and glasses. Fridge and microwave is available. Places to eat are also within walking distance.
I attempted to book online, but my phone gave out so I went directly to Reeds. They acted like I was trying to steal something from them. They quoted me more than what showed online PLUS wanted $100 security deposit. I am 73, not exactly of the fly by night age. I finally took a room for 142. more than showed online, but I needed a place. They also said they were going to inspect the room before I was allowed to check out. They did not do that, but it was definitely meant as some sort of threat. My room, 111, was pretty much crap. No drawers for your cloths and pubic hair on the shower room floor. I could only see 2 corners that did not have built up dirt. The cord on the hair dryer was so dirty, I refused to use it in this time of COVID. The security chain on the door was broken so I had to prop a chair under the doorknob. There was no phone in the room with which to call the front desk should there be an emergency. There was a broom handle in the sliding glass door track with which to lock it. I have pictures of all the things I found. Thank goodness, I only had to spend one night there.…
We would rate this hotel at minus 2 stars: The pictures shown on the website misrepresent the real old dumpy building and rooms of the hotel. It has no air conditioned, there are only fans in he room; during the time we were there, it is very hot and high humidity; no elevator, very weak WiFi, no restaurant, no vending machines, you may find some restaurants nearby, 10 minutes away It was a big mistake for us to stay there for two nights, for $150 per night. Don’t stay at this hotel
