I didn't feel particularly welcomed at reception and I'm still not quite sure what I got for the "resort Fee" that was added to my bill. I was also surprised that Covid was still being used as an excuse for not cleaning rooms, replacing towels, shampoo, shower gel, coffees etc. Otherwise the hotel was okay.

Just stayed for 1 night but everyone was so helpful and friendly!! Food and drinks were great!! Room was clean with a great view! I wish we stayed longer! We will go back for sure! The water bottles they give you are great for refilling at the water station

This was the second time in three years that we have stayed at this hotel. The quality of just about everything was worse this time. Was surprised at check in to be given a bag to but dirty linens in if we wanted them changed and otherwise, no service. I managed to find a housekeeper in the hall second morning to grab a coffee packet. The room was very tired, the corners had dirty buildup, shower wasn’t clean, no fan and dark in toilet/shower area. Bathroom vanity/toilet lights are tied together so if u turn on the light in night, it shines into the room. I was very disappointed as we paid quite a bit to stay here. Next time, we will book at the Grand Naniloa next door.

Check in person was unfriendly without being actually rude. Saying maid service is not available every day due to Covid is not acceptable. If they are short staffed - just say so. Hair dryer didn’t work. Spent 10 mins or so on trying to get it to work and then noticed there were two hand dryers shoved way in the back of the bathroom shelf where they were hardly visible. Again inform guests.

We wouldn't stay in any other hotel on Banyan Drive. It was clean, quiet, easy to park and convenient. We enjoyed having two different types of dining experiences and we took advantage of both for different dinners after busy days. Mahalo to the staff.

I needed a room for just one night, and to be honest, I chose this hotel because it was slightly cheaper than the Grand Naniloa. But it all worked out and I have no complaints at all about the hotel. Check-in was a breeze - the lovely wahine who assisted me at check-in was very friendly. We each received a plastic water bottle for free, and there was a water cooler at the entrance for us to fill up our water bottles. Hooray for free filtered water. Our room was clean and it came with shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee maker and two packets of coffee (one caffeinated and one decaf), paper coffee cups, hair dryer, two sets of towels, and a nice flatscreen TV with spectrum cable. The room was equipped with wi-fi, however, I seemed to have trouble with the wifi and just stuck with my regular cell service. The only thing I didn't like about my stay was the bird droppings on our rental car that greeted us the next morning. TIP: if you're parking your car here, park in the underground area so you don't get bombed like how we did! Otherwise, we had a very lovely, albeit short stay here.…

I enjoyed my stay overall. The front desk and bell people were really nice. I liked the location of my room and I liked the amenities as well as the restaurant. What I didn't like is that I didn't come into a very clean room. The toilet had pee stains and smelled like urine, there was hair in the shower and on the floor and the coffee items weren't properly replenished. I didn't get regular coffee and the condiment package was already opened. I called and asked for maid service and explained about the cleaning. Two days in a row I was told there was going to be service. I never got it and the day before check out i asked again and said the request never came in both days and they couldn't service me because it was the end of the day. Other than that I enjoyed my stay and despite the cleanliness, I will return but I will request ahead of time that my room be cleaned thoroughly.…

We live on The Big Island of Hawaii on the West Side of the Island /Kona . I recently needed to have a medical procedure done and it was being performed on the East side of the Island in Hilo which is about an hour and 45 minutes from where we live. We wanted to enjoy our time on the East side and made a staycation out of my doctor's visit and this hotel was just perfect. It's Central to everything you could possibly want to do in/around Hilo. The staff are upbeat and personable ...you actually feel the "WELCOME" of "ALOHA". The location is superb...you are directly across from Coconut Island which is a wonderful place to picnic and swim ....you are also a walk or short ride away from some wonderful restaurants. We highly recommend "Pond's Restaurant"....excellent food, atmosphere, service and pricing. Anywhooo back to Hilo Hawaiian ....our room was spotless and sitting on the balcony looking at Hilo Bay and the lights of the city at night was a wonderful experience. Positively beautiful. The hotel is old but they have refreshed it and are still working on it but the Hawaiiana feel will bring you back to a simpler time and the beauty of the Bay is something you will find yourself savoring. The Hilo Hawaiian is the only hotel we will book when vacationing on the Hilo side. FYI... I had originally booked through The AGODA Travel Platform in NOVEMBER and we had a medical emergency which meant I had to cancel the original booking ...I had to get a note from our Doctor to Cancel (and I did ) ...AGODA made this experience so stressful (they kept telling me it wasn't them who was holding up my refund it was their business partner...and here's the deal breaker....they won't tell you "who" their business partner is!!) at any rate the hotel reservations Manager, Betty helped me deal with AGODA and they eventually honored the cancellation. When I finally rebooked our trip in January (this trip) ..I contacted the hotel Reservations directly and made this reservation. Lesson Learned: I will NEVER book a room through a platform again. I will always contact the hotel directly and speak with reservations to get the best deal from the hotel directly.…

Haven't stayed here in a few years. The rooms, restaurant and overall has been refurbished and upgraded commensurate to the lovely property location. The restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner had a notably upgraded menu and decor, with excellent service. This is great value for both business and leisure traveler.
