We loved our stay at Aaron's Cottage. We rented directly from the property owner over the phone and were able to get a discount for getting 3 places. We rented the beach house, the bungalow, and one of the cottages The price is great! The owner, Robert, is easy to get hold of, and helped with several things before we even arrived in Hawaii. First of all, let's talk about the location and basic property information. It's about a 10 minute drive from downtown Hilo. You do drive through an industrial area to get there, but then you are in more of a residential looking area after that. We were just a short walk from a fairly private beach and a 5 minute drive from several other beaches with good snorkeling. The property looked well kept up and screamed Hawaii. We could eat fruit off any of the fruit trees on the property. Each room/house had a locked door with a code to get in. Felt like you were in a safe area. Quiet at night. 5 stars on location. The beach house: It was cute. Had a lanai, but could have used nicer chairs for sitting on it. Master bathroom is updated, but needs a better way for cleaning up water after the open shower. A dangerous step in the middle of the night into the bathroom. Beds were comfortable enough. Kitchen had basic appliances and a full size refrigerator with an ice maker. Could have used towels and better knives. There was a TV and air conditioning in each bedroom. Should be noted that the third bedroom, the one with 2 twin beds has a separate entrance, meaning that if you needed the bathroom in the night, you had to leave your room and go into the main house. If my kids had been younger, I would have not liked finding this out when I arrived. But my teenager had no problem with this. There is a working washer and dryer with soap provided. Overall rating: 4 stars The bungalow: So cute! It's a separate little home. Has a queen bed, small table, small kitchen with a full size refrigerator, its own bathroom. Kitchen had no towels. My parents stayed here and enjoyed it. Only complaint was the step getting into the bungalow was a little awkward. Overall rating: 4 stars. Cottage: Has 1 queen bed, private bathroom. back screen door stuck a little. Depending on what cottage you are in you will have 1 or 2 shared walls. Behind the cottages is a shared kitchen. Did not use, so can't review. Overall rating: 4 stars. …
We were very happy with the location. Close to swimming lagoon with locals picnicking made us feel like we were in the real Hawaii. the family cottage had lots of room, a state of the art kitchen, washing machine and dryer, comfortable beds and good linen. You need a car but this adds to the experience. So much nicer to be in a house on its own green block than a resort.Aircon and fans made the temperature great for sleeping. Good base to explore the volcanic area.
Had a beautiful week at Aaron's Cottage. Everything was to our satisfaction and more. Loved the little beach cove. The owner Rob, was a wealth of information about the island. We will be coming back for sure
Aaron's cottage was comfortable, clean and a lovely place to stay with my family. The owner responded to all of my requests and was easy to get in touch with. The area was quiet and walking distance to 2 beaches. I would highly recommend these cottages.
My high school graduate granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Aaron's for 11 nights. Robert, the owner, was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had prior to arrival. When we didn't know how to operate the AC, manager Brian responded within minutes even though it was almost 10 PM. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were well-maintained with beach access only five minutes away. The room had its own fridge, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker; and breakfast foods were available in the shared kitchen. We couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations or the quality of service we received.
Alan met us outside after we got in late to let us know the best place to park. He was very friendly and attentive. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. We only stayed overnight but it was very quiet for being so close to the airport. It is also very close to the beach access path.
we got in and everything was wonderful. we needed and extra towel and we had it within minutes. we enjoyed our stay . slept really well in the comfortable beds. we had plenty of room for the 3 if us. we would stay there next time as well. we took a walk to the cute beach. thank you for a quick stay.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and loved it! Quiet little gem of a place. We booked our stay through booking.com and even though booking.com messed up our reservation we were accommodated us. Room was a typical hotel style room with a nice refrigerator and plenty of room to unpack. Queen bed was very comfortable. Room had air conditioning but you really don’t need it at night. Shared kitchen was stocked with fresh fruit, eggs etc. coffee maker in room. Allen, the caretaker, was always onsite, very helpful and pleasant. If you need something just ask. Rob, the owner, was usually onsite and a real nice and pleasant man. Laundry facilities onsite. The best part was the beach. Just a short walk. The grounds are very well kept and perfect for a evening of star gazing.
We found Aaron’s Cottages to be lovely. We had a 1 bedroom with private bath that adjoined a common kitchen area. Our room also had a mini fridge. The management was very pleasant and offered multiple times to get us whatever we needed. The place was a great value for the price!
We would definitely recommend this place for value, just keep in mind that it is a B&B type of experience. Aaron was quick to respond to initial questions and Allen the manager was a hoot and very responsive to any requests that we had. I think that there may be different types of rooms, but ours was one large room. If you have a 3rd person, the bedding is interesting. Our daughter was given a cot with a fold out cushion, sheets and pillow. While that worked out fine for her because she is a petite 19 year old, it may not be so great for larger adults. The place was quiet with access to a large back yard and a shared kitchen that had basic necessities for cooking breakfast. There was a nice volcanic rock beach within close walking distance. We would stay there again.
