We stayed here for one night on our road trip around The Big Island in May. I think we both agreed that we would opt for a day pass instead next time. The grounds are really beautiful and the waterfall was spectacular. You are paying a premium to stay next to the falls. The positives were as follows: 1. Spectacular waterfall and grounds 2. Very nice staff when we arrived 3. Delicious breakfast overlooking the falls with very nice staff. I think the negative of the experience was having to plan so much in advance--I wish there was some way to purchase lunch or food same day and also maybe to offer some kind of food option that isn't the expensive chef dinner without knowing what it is going to be. I think there is an opportunity for them to sell some basic food/snacks that are non-perishable. We felt a little uncomfortable driving at night on the one lane road out of the hotel in the evening. So if you decide to stay here, make sure you have a food plan. I would also recommend not spending the extra money on a room that overlooks the falls because I felt the roof was really obstructing the view if you were sitting down--instead enjoy the falls walking around the property. While I didn't feel the room was unclean, it definitely felt like some things could be updated such as maybe the comforters and pillows that can't be washed between each guest on the bed. I also didn't really love the use of all the QR codes to order just about anything.

Want to get away from everything? This is the place for you. The drive out down the narrow roads leads to a well cared for inn and farm with its own waterfalls and trail. We could see the waterfall during breakfast at the inn. The trails have gigantus bamboo plants that do warrant bug spray or pants though.

We have spent 3 nights at the inn. We truly appreciated our room, cosy and comfortable. The location is so different, beautiful and enchanting. The cascade is beautiful to look at. It’s nice to walk around the property. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. So I can only recommend the place. However, I have to say that the dinner experience, even though the chef is good, creative and very friendly, it was extremely expensive for what it was, very far from our expectations.

Taking the private/gated road into the wilderness location was exciting. A scenic, winding road. Booked early to get the best room with a view of the falls. Also nice white noise for relaxing and sleeping. Fresh breakfast in the morning was a plus. 20 min away from Hilo for restaurant option (if no eating on property) was handy. One hour from Volcano National Park. We rented a car so that we could also drive around the coast.

The Inn is located about 10 minutes from Hilo, but you feel like you're in the middle of no where. The property was beautiful. We have a fun day paddleboarding and swimming near the waterfall. The breakfast was delicious, the room was clean. The shared spaces were nice as well, our building had snacks and coffee 24/7. We could hear the waterfall from our room, which was a lovely experience.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay for 2 nights at the Inn. We had the Maile room, which was lovely and overlooks the falls - sitting on the balcony with fresh coffee was a very nice experience. Breakfast is good, lots of fresh fruit, but yes, only 3 options to choose from. The grounds are beautiful. It's about a 10 minute, slow drive, to Hilo. Everyone was very nice and I would recommend staying here for at least 2 nights.

I went with my husband and his two sisters. It was a wonderful experience although it does get chilly at night (upper 50's low 60's) so plan accordingly. It was a little too "roughing it" for one of the sister, age 70, but the rest of us were fine. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The community room is great to gather and talk and play games. The cabin beds are comfortable and the facility was always clean and eco-conscious which we appreciated. We will be back!

On the positive side, beautiful area adjacent to lovely waterfall. Nice "common rooms" in each of the two multi-room buildings. On the other hand, other than breakfast, no food or drink available except for the chef's table dinner, $366 for two of us. 3+ miles from town, on mostly single-lane road. The "pool" referred to is the one at the base of the waterfall, which looks lovely, but the trail down to it is hazardous. I fell, as did another guest. Our room was quite small, with paper-thin walls, and we listened to toilets flushing, guests showering and conversing. The bed was noisy as well, with concern that it might fall apart. Internet was slow.

Wonderful staff, unique location, breakfast was wonderful. We attended Merrie Monarch 2023 and were blessed to stumble on this incredible location on the hills overlooking Hilo. A true gem! We will stay again.
