Despite extensive travel, this was my first stay at a true "B & B". We stayed here as it was a member of Select Registry and we were not disappointed. It is beautifully clean, wonderfully restored, and the staff is amazing. The breakfast was awesome and you can tell that the team puts their all into caring for each and every customer. I do wish I had "learned" how to "B & B" right before came. We got in late and I was a little disoriented. And then some of us were too tired to come down for breakfast, so they missed the delight of the experience. I would recommend getting in early and enjoying the place in the evening and then being able to get up early for breakfast. If you are in the area or passing thru, this is definitely and excellent option.

Property's Favourite Review
We had a lovely single-night stay at the Inn! We were in the Murphy Brown room (love this name!), which was easy to access from the back of the Inn. The Inn is gorgeous inside and quite spacious. Our room was comfortable and well decorated. The shower was quite good. Additional drinking water was provided in the hallway. Breakfast, which was in a beautiful garden-type room with many windows, included watermelon chunks, orange-mango juice, coffee, and a hearty open-faced breakfast sandwich with multigrain bread, an egg, cheese, aioli, parsley, and a bit of paprika. We could also have purchased a latte, cappuccino, or a mocha for a few extra dollars. There is an honor bar with wine available, and there is a pool table on the main floor. We would stay at the Inn again! Thanks to Preston and Nicole for their work!

I turned up without a reservation, having checked online that they had availability. The host was very accommodating and sorted me a room. Which was very nice and I really liked the decor. They have an honesty bar that was well stocked. The breakfast was excellent, they very proudly make a lot of homemade food. The host also took the time to talk about the history of the area. By far the best place I’ve stayed at on my trip in the USA.

We expected more from a Select Registry B&B. We were happy to be able to book a room that did not require steps since my husband uses a walker. However, the room was tiny with no place to put anything and no place to sit and relax except on the bed. The a/c ran all night, but did not cool the room adequately and the noise kept us up. The downstairs in the inn is lovely, but he was unable to access that floor and in the morning I had to drive him down to breakfast that was just so-so. The staff was lovely, however they did not offer any welcome, advice or information when we checked in. We love to stay at historic, unique B&Bs, but perhaps picked the wrong room this time!

I am sorry that you didn't have our normal 5 star experience and wish you would informed us of your concerns right away, so that we could have remedied them. Interacting with guests is the best part of innkeeping and we try to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. If we will be away from the property or guests are arriving late, we make sure they know how to reach us through direct text in case of questions or concerns. We also send pre arrival texts with information and restaurant advice. Since this mansion is an historic building with beautiful furnishings and lovely amenities, it doesn't have the same size rooms or doors as newer properties and is not designated accessible, although we strive to make our less mobile guests comfortable and safe. The most accessible rooms, at the back of the Inn, feature a lovely deck, with umbrella tables and level access to the upper level parking lot for those who can't use stairs and prefer to drive to the lower level. We just checked all of the air conditioners, which are all within 2 years old, and they are all working correctly. I think what happened is that due to current regulations, they automatically start in eco mode when turned on unless you push the cool setting. Eco mode causes the a/c to kick on and off and doesn't cool as well. I am also sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the served breakfast that is included with the stay. We normally get rave reviews for the food. Everything is made on-site from the highest quality ingredients, organic if possible, and all the garnishes are grown in our own garden. We even make our own vanilla and yogurt! We are always happy to provide an alternate meal if the entree is not to your liking and always ask guests for eating restrictions and food dislikes. I hope that you will come back in the future and give us another chance to wow you.

Had a wonderful night at the Inn. The Lincoln room was spacious and very adequate for our needs. Plenty of room to stretch out and the bathroom was a nice size as well. Breakfast was great - a must is the morning juice created by the owner! Staff is knowledgeable about the history of the Inn, so ask questions! Parking is tight, but it is an historic Inn after all. Won’t stay at a hotel again when passing thru the area. The Inn is a great value.

What a wonderful stay at this historic inn. We stayed in the Abraham Lincoln room and it had all the amenities that you would need from ironing board to coffee pot. The owners, Kit and Gary, made us feel so welcome. Preston was delightful also and greeted us as we drove in. We enjoyed a wonderful freshly prepared breakfast souffle with fresh fruit. You won't be disappointed if you stop at this charming inn.

From start to finish this place is top notch. A few miles off I77, but worth the drive. We had 3 dogs with us and they were very accommodating. Food and drinks were great, owner was very friendly and helpful. Innkeeper was a delight and over accommodated us. Would definitely go there again. Very quiet and secluded. The decor is charming and takes you back to a different time when everything was simpler, but had all modern conveniences. Great place!

On our way to Florida we had booked the Bluefield Inn, in WV as a stop over. From the beginning their communications and helpfulness was very much appreciated. Preston the Inn Keeper was very helpful in ensuring that our room would be accessible for a late check in an that the complimentary Tesla charger (for Customers Only) was set up and working for our arrival. Upon arriving we immediately fell in love with the Inn which is a historical house that was built in 1903 situated on a Historical Street. We cannot say enough about the hospitality, the charm of the house and of course the staff. Our dog Lucky was welcome for a small nominal charge an even got to meet Preston's two English Bulldogs, Rosie and Jack. We loved everything about the Inn and will most definitely be returning.
