Detailed Reviews
Clean, quiet, serene campground very close to the gorge but you will not hear the highway and you can barely hear the train.
This is one of the rare places where both tenters and RVs coexist beautifully.
Nice clean bathrooms and showers.
Small just one big loop and an inner loop.
Great big meadow for your dog or playing frisbee.
Another meadow for children to play at including big play structure.
This place does not have a swimming pool.
But the area is full of activities including hiking , biking, and all river sports.
You are extremely close to some of the most extreme kiteboarding and windsurfing opportunities in the western USA.
It's about 7 mi to Stevenson and about 22 miles to Hood River.
Hood River is much bigger.

We stayed here recently on a weekend get-a-way. I knew I wanted to camp but I was not sure where and while looking it seemed that most campsites in the area were very close to railroad tracks and had reviews to prove it. I finally settled on Timberlake but was a little wary because we do not have an RV, we are strictly tent campers and like it that way. I was concerned that it was going to be nothing but an RV park with some "okay" campsites.
I was definitely wrong and was immediately excited! We stayed in campsite 4 which is amazing. Set back in the woods and with a very private feeling, even though you are relatively close to other campers. The woods and surrounding brush and how the sites are laid out make it feel very secluded. Our site in particular was on the edge of a very full forested area with a stream running at the base of the hill. The tent area had wood chippings laid out to make you more comfortable and also to keep your tarp or the base of your tent a bit cleaner should it rain (which it did).
Leroy is extremely nice and efficient in checking you in. He seems like someone my husband and I would have enjoyed getting to know a bit more. When we checked in there was another worker there to drive our firewood out to us and also provided a cart for us to haul our stuff from our car to our site (you cannot park directly in the sites itself, which is nice).
The grounds itself are beautiful and not the typical RV park I had in my head. We took a stroll around the grounds and checked out the other campsites and all of them are this beautiful and secluded. You will not be listening to the hum of RV's while you roast marshmallows, nor will you be sharing conversation with other tent campers should you not want to.
We loved it! We will be back. Tent campers - it's worth it, go there.

This is the rare campground that gets both tent campers and RV people. We've camped a lot and most are one or the other. The tent sites here are very nice - separated by greenery, tidy, big enough and scenic. Ours had a sink nearby for washing dishes, a portapotty that was close, and a bathhouse that was a short walk. The surrounding woods were lovely, and while there were RVs there, we didn't really notice them. The hosts were very nice and the lack of train noise - which I've heard can be a problem with most of the state parks nearby - was nonexistent. Very happy with our choice to stay here; would recommend and come back. Thanks!

This campground really knows how to nickel and dime you. Not only is the site rate over priced, they charge per person on top of the original rate, they charge for a towed car and the charge that is still making me see red is they have the nerve to charge to use the showers. Last I checked showers were included in most campground amenities. Never was I informed that I needed to haul my quarters with me to the shower. I was literally standing naked in the shower wondering why the water wouldn't work. I had to redress and go back to my camp to scrounge quarters out of my car. Not acceptable! Besides being way over priced, the staff was very inflexible with arrival times and overall irritating. Our particular site was also very difficult to level our rig on. Find somewhere else to stay!

We recently completed a 10 day family trip and this resort was our favorite stop. We stayed here on Tuesday July 15th. Although we were only there one night, everything about this park was excellent! From getting reservations on the website, good directions, friendly and helpful front desk, clean showers and restroom facilities, to the beautiful grounds. We selected the back in site! The kids loved the playground! We would love to come back to this area and stay at this resort again when we have more time.

I spent hours online trying to find a campground for 6 days in the Columbia River Gorge with our 26-foot travel trailer. I finally settled on Timberlake. What a great choice!
The people are pleasant, the campground pristine, the campsites beautifully maintained. Shortly after our next-door neighbors had vacated their site one morning, the staff came out to rake the gravel smooth again before the next camper arrived. I call that maintenance!
We got a personal escort to our site and an experienced guide for backing into our spot. Unlike most "RV parks," our site #20 was relatively private (the sites are angled and offset so your neighbor is not right beside you), spacious, level, and (best of all) SHADY. (They have sunny sites and sites that are closer together, more "traditional" RV sites, but we asked for shady and that's what we got.) Thus, we never returned after a long day to find our trailer turned into an oven because it had been sitting in the sun all day.
Even the RV sites have a picnic table (plastic, i.e., no splinters) and place for a campfire. There was even a verdant lawn for pets, and free WiFi that worked most of the time.
The camp cat (named Timber) was just as friendly as Mr. Anderson and his staff. The ice we needed was not overpriced. Unlike most campgrounds in the Gorge, there is no 24/7 freight train or highway just outside your window. It was a great place to relax.
I want to go back to Timberlake again ... and again ... and again.

My finace and I wanted to tent camp overnight near where we were set to go river rafting and came across this gem. The sites were a tad close together but they were very clean, pretty and the noise policy (after 10 SHHHHHH!) was brilliantly enforced (THANK YOU!). Got up in the moring and for $.25 per 3 min, had a nice warm shower! It sure beat the heck out of any hotel/motel room we could have stayed in. You just cna't beat the cleanliness, value, location of the place. As tent campers I like it a little rougher but for "car camping" this was awesome. We were able to book ahead...see the sites on the web...the only surprise was how well it all went.

Did NOT want to camp on the Columbia River Gorge with the horrific train noise 24 hours a day, so drove just 2 1/2 miles from the gorge up into the woods & into Timberlake RV Park. We were soooo relieved to find a clean, quiet, beautiful campground. Marisa & Kyle are the nice young owners & have worked hard to make this a special place & are improving facilities even as I type this. The camp hosts we met were also friendly & helpful.
There's a bath house with showers; a camp store with basic supplies, some gifts, beer & wine; dog walking area; a small playground plus walking trails; RV & tent sites; lots of trees. Everything was neat & clean! We stayed for 3 nights in our 28' travel trailer & had plenty of room to park it & our truck.
FYI: To get here from Oregon you cross the Gorge over the Cascade Locks "Bridge of the Gods" ($2.00 toll) to Stevenson, Wa. The park is only 9 miles from there & about 20 miles further East to Hood River, Or. Do NOT take your RV over the Hood River bridge....it is way too narrow & scary for that. You can also cross at The Dalles, Or bridge (no toll) East of Hood River. We will be back :) .

Fabulous campground! Owners Kyle and Marissa go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The grounds are well cared for, the bathrooms spotless. No highway or train noise to interrupt a good nights' sleep. The tent sites are clean and shaded with easy access to dishwashing stations and restrooms. I will definitely return!

My husband and I stayed at Timberlake for 5 days in August. This is absolutely the cleanest campground we have ever stayed at. The restrooms and showers were immaculate! And as we walked through the campground, we noticed how clean and well-maintained each area was. Bill and Carol, the campground hosts, were extremely friendly and helpful. Bill took us to our campsite so we didn't have to 'look for it', and helped us back in our camper perfectly! Since this was our first time there, they had reserved site #6 for us, it was quiet and private. Actually, the entire campground was quiet, even in the evenings! Bill and Carol would drive around the campground on their golf cart to see if anyone needed anything, but they NEVER bothered us. They respected our privacy, which we appreciated very much. Bill also recommended places for us to visit in the area. We also noticed that Mr. Anderson, the owner of the campground, was there every day, too. It was great to see a 'hands on' owner. I highly recommend this campground when you are in the Columbia River Gorge area near Stevenson, WA.

Thanks for your interest in Timberlake Campground. Based on our current availability, I would recommend Tent site 4 or 7. Tent site 4 is teh last site in its grouping which helps with noise. Tent site 7 is perched up on a little hill, being elevated could help with noise. Give us a call at 509-427-2267 and we will be happy to help.
