We stayed two nights and had cabin 7. Checkin was great and they were very willing to move us from a cabin by the road that had campers right next to it to a quieter location. We came to Cougar to go hiking at Lava Canyon but only found roads to be gated. Our fault to not ask before heading out.
Our cabin needed to be aired and cleaned more. With Covid and with quests the night before, we took extra precautions. We sprayed Lysol and wiped down wooden tables. See pictures of our paper towels and their towel to dry the table in the living room. The kitchen cabinets and drawers were sticky so we rewatched everything we used.
Don’t mean to complain but something for the management to take note of.
We only tried the Chile in the restaurant and it was delicious. We would had tried more on their menu but we brought plenty of food.
Side note- don’t go to Cougar bar across the street. No one wears masks and lots of flies in the restaurant. Both servers didn’t wear masks, same with the cook and customers. I’ll review them next with photos.

We had an excellent stay. Very relaxing. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The refrigerator was large enough to hold all the food we brought with us and the microwave worked great for heating dinner the first night. We ate in the cafe for lunch and dinner the next day- great service, food was a step above what I would expect to find in such a remote location. The office staff were so friendly and gracious. Everyone was working hard to make our stay pleasurable. Comfy beds, cushy towels, hot shower....just an awesome way to get away. Stay here if you can.

Beautiful location in Washington's forest. We arrived without a reservation which was not a problem. The cabin was very clean, quiet and quaint. The restaurant served delicious hamburgers which were delivered to our cabin and we ate just outside our front door. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a fantastic stay.

We didn't intend to cancel, only change dates. Despite having amble availability on the day I booked and amble availability on the day I wanted to make the change for, the only way to change dates was to cancel our reservation, get charged a night and rebook. It is my fault for booking in advance, policy is clearly stated. But knowing Jeremy has the same type of room open on the 2 nights I booked, and everything is wide open 2 weeks later, makes no sense. I enquired about the change a week before our stay.

My mistake has cost me $152

It has cost Lone Fir $152 for the extra night we would have stayed, plus the patronage of utilizing the restaurant, plus word of mouth. I've always supported this business from the time Jeremy (the owner) moved up from California and made a go in the small town of Cougar. This would have been our 4th stay. I have no problem camping in my Subaru or backpacking in, that is our new plan. Staying at your cabin was a nice touch to our climbing trip and an attempt to support small business.

The only way to communicate with the property is by email. They will not answer the phone, nor call back.

This is the only hotel to stay in Cougar, fortunately not the only place to eat. The Cougar Bar and Grill has great food and is less expensive. There are other hotels off I-5.

4 stars is reserved for those with good customer service. I can no longer recommend your property to friends or family. Best of luck Jeremy, I think you are going to need it.

All reservations are final upon booking. Guests who need to change must cancel the original reservation, as agreed to on our booking terms, and rebook for the new dates. This policy is applied equally and fairly to all guests, regardless of the knowledge of any ownership. We encourage guests to book closer to their climbing dates when they get a clearer picture of how the weather will be in the shoulder seasons. Guests who desire more flexible cancellation policies can stay at hotels in Woodland off the Interstate 5, however it will add an extra 45-minute drive, on top of another half hour drive, just to reach the beginning of an 8-12 hour hike. We have set our policies and shifted our staff resources to online communications and reservations, including email and our messaging service on our website, in order to continue offering our guests those exceptional in-person experiences and quality rooms, that make people want to return for their fourth visit.

We have been coming to Lone Fir for years. Its a small campground, but clean, with pretty scenery and is close to the mountain, ape caves, and Lower Lewis Falls. We RV camp, and each year, we struggle to get our auto levelers to work because of how poorly the ground is kept. The RV sights all slope to the right, making set up extremely frustrating. We have mentioned this before and even after several years, they have made no attempt to level their sites.
They have raised their prices, changed their pet policy and no longer allow dogs, are not accommodating at all when it comes to simple requests like changing back to the sites we booked and requested specifically, to be close to our friends, even when no one was in them! They were rude when we asked to play pool at 8pm...the pool room closed at 9pm. Everything is overpriced and they are just not the best hosts we have encountered. The original owners were much nicer to work with. We decided this would be our last year here. Between the cost, the rude staff, and the poorly leveled and kept RV sites, we will spend our money somewhere else.

We stopped into the Gift Shop as we always do on every single trip we take camping up at Swift. We buy so many nic-naks and candles and do not get me started on how much i love the popcorn.... Thousands of dollars spent here over the years. This time we bought a Green Hoodie Sweater for my wife. She tried it on in the store and loved it so much that she refused to take it of. We removed the tag gently paid for it and left. We drove up to the campground set up. About an hour later we noticed a split in the seam of the hood. Not a hole in the hood or anything that could have happened but a clear split up the hem of the hood approximately 1 inch long. She took it off immediately, put it in the car so it wouldn't get dirty and we decided we decided we would deal with it on Sunday when we returned out of the mountains. I went into the store and the women who sold it to me specifically and in fact remembered who I as told me she wouldn't help me. She told me i could wait for the manager. I arrived there at 9:30am, He wasn't coming in until after 11am. She wanted me to wait until 11am. Could the restaurant manager not help me? Was there not a Person In Charge who was allowed to make managerial decisions. Could she not pick up a phone and call the manager and explain the situation. Take picture with her cell phone and send it to his cell? She offered no solution. She did nothing. I place no blame I just wanted my wife's hoodie replaced. The hem seam doesn't go through to the other side. There is no hole. It is directly up the seam. I don't understand why i would be asked to wait 1.5 hours to exchange hoodie. That is the most ridiculous request. I live 1.5 hours away. I want to drive home. Not wait

My son and I stayed at the Resort the night before our climb to the top of Mt St Helen's. The room was just what we needed - basic but affordable. The cafe was top notch and after the hike we actually stopped back by to have a celebratory dinner. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good communication across the board. Highly recommended...

We enjoyed the campground, lots of nice folks in RVs. The cafe had great food, found everything the grandson wanted in the gift shop and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Another guest showed us her cabin and it looked spotlessly clean.
We will definitely stay again in this close to home spot in Cougar. So many fun things to do close by.

I had the inn booked for two people in preps to climb Mount Saint Helens the next day over Mothers Day weekend. Six weeks prior the coronavirus hit the area hard and people needed to keep distance. I called the inn to cancel my reservations and they were so kind, so understanding, and when I said I felt bad for the impact this was having on their small business he said, come back! Have lunch here in the future! Return when this is over! He stayed so calm, so kind, even though he was probably dealing with many stressed out people. If you are reading this, support them as soon as you can in any way you can!

We highly appreciate your review! Yes, the coronavirus is making a large impact on all small businesses in our area. Our restaurant is still available for carhop, to go, or room service if anyone happens to drive by on their way up to see Mount Saint Helens! Our hotel and RV park are also still open!

I very seldom ever leave a review for anything so me leaving a review is a really big deal :)! We could not have been happier with our stay here. Our room was clean, cozy and had the perfect amenities (coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, a nice bench out front, etc.). The exact location of this resort was a little further away from Mount Saint Helens than we would have like however, it was in the perfect location for us to go and explore Ape Cave. We stayed here for 3 days. After a full day of adventuring we returned to the resort early enough to enjoy a drink at the bar along with a wonderful dinner. The food here was REALLY good! A little pricey but it was well worth it. To top off our stay, the customer service was wonderful! We had never been to this area before and the manager was over the top helpful with directions and useful information that helped us to explore more than we had anticipated. If you're planning on exploring the Mount Saint Helens/Ape Cave area I HIGHLY recommend this location for RV'ers, hotel guests, cabin seekers, or for even just dinner. a milkshake or a drink. Enjoy!
