The Historic Powhatan Williamsburg, a Hilton Vacation Club hotel, garners praise for its immaculate grounds and clean, if occasionally outdated, accommodations. While its prime location facilitates easy exploration of nearby historic attractions, guests have voiced concerns about high resort fees impacting the overall value. The hotel's ambiance and amenities, including several pools and sports facilities, are popular among travelers. However, experiences with the service staff range from commendably friendly to disappointingly unresponsive.

The grounds are nice and the location is very convenient to local attractions. Our two bedroom condo was in need of a refresh. Furniture is worn ,the couch was stained and many marks on the walls. (If you look at the resort photos the furniture was new in 2014) The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. One additional note, you only get 4 devices on the WiFi without paying an additional fee.

We have been coming here for the past 3 years and with all that is going on still enjoyed our stay. We staying in a 4 bedroom lockoff with 4 children and 2 adults. The outside, front and back of the unit needed some care. Spiders/webs, and dead bugs and for some reason nails on the downstairs pavements all over. This could be easily cleaned to make it more comfort when sitting outside. The inside of the unit perfectly clean! The pool is closing at 5pm due to covid and they were on top of crowding managing those in and out. I never saw anyone cleaning the outdoor deck or furniture which would have been nice. The pool bathroom was gross, and this needs to be cleaned addressed! It would have been great if the little coffee shop was open or a least a something on site to get something of the sort. I'm sure these are all COVID restrictions related. All in our 10 day stay was nice.

The resort was nice. The check-in process was a nightmare. No social distancing and a 90 wait to check-in. THEN a visit to a concierge.
Our room was perfectly located directly across from the adult pool. They have other pools for families too along with a pool bar with food.
Our room was an upstairs unit with 13 steps to get to the dining room. It had 2 full sized baths, one bedroom, dining room, tiny kitchen with small washer/dryer, and an upstairs living room (we never used because of the stairs.)
In the bedroom the bed was the best part. Very comfortable but very high. The drawers in the dresser would not stay shut. The on suite bath was big and had a full tub.
The dining room had 4 upholstered chairs and a large table.
The second bath was smaller and harder to maneuver getting on and off toilet. The shower was large.
The kitchen did not have enough accessible cabinets to put anything away which in turn made the small counter cluttered. The drawers contained glassware and plates and bowls. The dishwasher is directly below the sink and was much smaller than normal. The blender did not work, some knives had broken handles, the washer/dryer unit took up much of the kitchen, all extra (mixing bowls, measuring cup, pans) were located on top of the refrigerator.
My husband took pictures of the third floor. There is a couch and big chair along with a window seat and a tv. Because I have issues climbing stairs, we were unable to utilize this area at all.
If you go and you have issues with stairs a second floor unit is not for you! I would also not recommend this for young children. The bathroom for the third floor is on the second floor.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We are sorry to note your disappointment with your recent stay with us. We are required to post signage encouraging 6ft social distancing but we cannot force people to do so. You did arrive on a very heavy arrival day at prime check-in time, we do apologize for any wait time to process all the check-ins that day (260 arrivals). BY the description it sounds like you booked one of our 1 bedroom upstairs units that were converted from studio efficiency units to one-bedroom units. We certainly would recommend booking either a ground floor unit or a 2 bedroom unit on your next visit with us, which provides much more space and no stairs if booking a ground floor. Thank you again for your feedback

We did have an issue with the initial reservation, but that cleared up with RCI.
There was a sales pitch but not as bad as some places we have stayed before. With all that being said,we throughly enjoyed our stay. The unit was extremely spacious, very clean and we had a sunroom on the lower level and an upper patio deck which was great to eat outside in the early
mornings.
The location to Busch Gardens, Water Country and all the historic sites such as Jamestown was just minutes away. There was plenty of restaurants and grocery stores just minutes away as well.

The resort was wonderful, so much to do, and the mini golf was a big hit as was the pool and planned activities. I would definitely stay there again.

Historic Powhatan Resort was an excellent choice for our stay in Williamsburg. Our 2-bedroom unit came complete with a full kitchen and dining room with plenty of sitting areas, a nice deck overlooking the beautiful grounds and two private bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The resort had two pools and plenty of sports activities available, including a mini-golf course, all at no extra charge (other than the standard daily activity fee). Given the current price of tiny and often untidy hotel rooms in Williamsburg, I highly recommend the comfort and cleanliness of the units at The Historic Powhatan Resort. This resort is especially good for families or two couples traveling together.

Initially, I was impressed because it's a gated property with security.

When you check in, you're charged a resort fee of around $20/day whether or not you participate in any of the offered activities. It's also supposed to cover wifi, which most places comp. Keep in mind only 4 ppl can access the wifi free in a 6 person room, so if you have 6 ppl with devices like.we did get ready to juggle this after paying the fee.

The townhouse was ok. The tile work in the bathroom with the tub was sloppy and the granite countertops seemed to not fit as they sat up to where you could see the sink while in the tub. The tub was also not jetted something I've come to expect at most resorts. It's decorated in colonial style. It really needed a good deep cleaning especially the carpet and furniture. A huge downside is you can hear all the noise upstairs if you're in a downstairs unit.
While It was nice having a washer/dryer unit, there was no door on it so when you wash there's a lot of noise. The electric stove in the kitchen was wired incorrectly low was high and high was low. It was super frustrating while cooking trying to figure this out.

There was a lake a few feet from our back porch with geese which was nice except the geese came running up to anyone who went out on the porch and hissed at you if it had babies.

There was no option to share screen on their TV's nor were their apps on the TV to log into. This resort was a little behind the times of most hotels, in my opinion, for that matter. Good thing I'd brought my phone to HDMI connector to be able to watch movies on our apps. We used the hdmi cable from the DVD player in the room. It was appreciated as our youngest watches dvd's. There was also no TV in the 2nd bedroom which was an inconvenience.

It is close to outlets, Busch Gardens, water country, Jamestown Beach, grocery stores, other attractions, and a nice selection of restaurants

I hope this helps them make improvements for future guest.

Our stay at Historic Powhatan in Williamsburg last week was disappointing from arriving with a vacuum and laundry outside our building. The vacuum stayed outside our building for over 24 hours until we said something. We encountered food left on the floor, clogged shower drain in the master shower- gross to see, phones that did not work to call front desk, smell of smoke, smoke detector in master hanging from the ceiling, agitator in Washing machine that did not work and the remote in the family room that did not work. The front desk staff was nice. They did get things fixed as quickly as possible except the washing machine and phone. The landscape was unkept as far as grass being cut and shrubs, etc. pool was only open from 9-5 and we were told that this was due to have staff there for Overseeing Covid. It came down to $. Not everybody wants to be at the pool in the middle of the sun. Everything was closed as far as activities. The concierge staff highlighted a discount at Aberdeen Barn and when we went to use that at our reservation we were told that we couldn’t due to Covid. Our presentation that we attended was supposed to take less than 2 hours because of no tour and it was 3+ hours. We agreed for education purposes because we made it clear no purchasing. The lady told us after hearing of our issues at the unit that they would be getting back to us to make things better and we never heard anything. Still waiting and was asked to write everything down and signed. To me all of this was a disappointment to the trip and left a bad taste in our mouths.

Basically this resort is like apartment complex with several buildings next to each other. There is an outdoor pool and several outdoor activities as well as restaurant and bar. Unfortunately with COVID-19, many amenities are closed. Outdoor pool is open. Restaurant isn’t but there are some within a few minutes away and a pizza delivery. The place has a full kitchen so you could cook your own as well or microwave anything. For longer stay, dishwasher and washer/dryer are readily available in the unit!
There is also an outdoor patio.

3BR townhouse layout: First floor has a king bed, walk-in closet, large bathroom, open living room and dining room, moderate size kitchen, odd bonus room, and a small deck. Second floor has a king bed, walk-in closet, large bathroom, full size washer/dryer, and a sitting area that is open to the living room with pull out sofa. Third floor / attic has 2 twin beds, a skylight and a dedicated air conditioner.
Pros: very large like a residential townhouse, 2 reserved parking spots, very well maintained, very clean, 2 large bathrooms, 2 pull out sofas (in living room and second floor sitting area), odd little room off the living room is good for alone time (used to house a hot tub), third floor has a dedicated air conditioning unit, one pool and hot tub are reserved for 18 and older.
Cons: $165/week with tax mandatory“resort” fee is highest in the area, very noisy steps, very creaky floors, poor curtains on third floor bedroom (bring eye shades), WiFi is open so use a VPN for your accounts, WiFi frequently makes you log back in, poor (1 bar) Verizon cell phone reception, water has that slimy feel can’t wash off the soap, no place to store food in the kitchen, no bathroom on the third floor, 2 bedrooms enter their suite bathrooms through walk in closets (very odd layout), second floor pull out sofa area is open to main living area so has lots of light and noise, only 3 gas grills on site while the rest are your charcoal. June 2022.

You can visit Busch Gardens Christmas Town, the outlets for shopping, and some houses on the Richmond Tacky Lights Tour. The Manor House on the plantation would be a nice self guided tour. The house is very similar to the Wythe House in Colonial Williamsburg. Once you check in the concierge desk should be open to help plan other activities.
