For the first vacation review ever, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about me and my husbands stay at Melia Cayo Coco. We had booked a Classic Room and upon our arrival, our room was not quite what I expected and asked if we could change rooms. We were offered an upgrade to a Lagoon Suite for $200 US for the week and we gladly took them up on the offer!! From the VIP upgrades that were included to the view from room, I was sold!!! ALL staff were friendly, helpful, professional and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Even the guests were the friendliest we have ever met. The grounds were beautifully manicured and clean; 🌴the chairs and loungers around the pool and on the beach were always plentiful; 🏖the selection of food and drinks available throughout the day was fresh, beautifully presented and full of wonderful tastes. 🍹🍺There was not one meal I wasn't wishing I had a bigger appetite to enjoy more!!😂 The buffet had something for everyone's taste and the al a cart restaurants spoiled you rotten!!😊 What more can I say?? Melia Cayo Coco, you outdid yourselves and we will have memories to last a lifetime from our fabulous vacation there! 👍…
Just back from our umpteenth visit to this amazing hotel. Firstly I’d like to say a huge thank you to ALL the staff, but in particular to those who we now class as friends and are the ONLY reason we return every year. They are Vivian, Ylayaly, Yusmelkis, Yoan, Yanelys who are currently in the international at breakfast and Ranchon at lunch and are so friendly and professional. Joseph (Pepe), who is one of our oldest friends and who is so loyal to the hotel, despite being moved from pillar to post. Yaneisy, Ani and Maite, who are part of the daytime entertainment team. Leo, who is covering for Jordan in the Billiard bar and is our new friend. Tamara Rolando and Aranelys at the lobby bar. Arley, Osvaldo, Osmany, Jorge and Mario in the buffet. Gardeners Felipe and Rolando. Idolina, Mediterranean restaurant and Yaqueline, who keeps the lobby toilets spotless. Secondly, I’d like to mention the improvements noticed since our last visit. The newly installed air conditioning in the billiard bar, is top of the list. I struggle with the heat in the evenings and this is just wonderful. Bernard, the new general manager has to be applauded for his visibility, unlike some previous ones. He is continually walking around the whole of the hotel, chatting to guests. I only hope he allows the few cats around the hotel, to stay. Most guests enjoyed seeing and feeding them. We used the Ranchon for lunch most days and it was lovely sitting there with live music and the fabulous beach in the background. Anyone wanting a relaxing holiday, with fabulous food and beach need look no further.…
Well where do you want me to start! First day check in was ok. So the package we chose should have included the following, robe and slippers, bottle of rum or wine, a daily stocked fridge of beer, pop and water. Clean towels and beach towels, a’la carte pre booked x4. What we got once we got to our room, one bathroom towel yep that’s it on top of the toilet not working on 2 separate days, room door not locking behind us and when it did it was unlocked when we came back. Safe did not work, batteries were dead. The food well carrots peas and hot dogs daily for breakfast lunch and dinner among other items, selection was dismal, cleanliness well we saw the plates, cups and bowls head into the kitchen and came back in not the cleanest of shape. Now we never saw the glasses and silver ware head into the kitchen. Upon further investigation we noticed the glasses being dunked into a plastic wash basin the wiped and polished with a table cloth, not once did we see the basin water get changed. I assume the silverware was done the same way. I asked my wife if she had some of her Fanta, she said no so that was not her lip prints on the glass. The a’la carte well we waited 45 mins for service and after over hearing some conversations with other patrons about no we don’t have this or that so we left. The positive comments I’m seeing posted here, don’t believe them. The pictures for this resort are very outdated, the resort is definitely in need of some refreshing. Now this review is not based on the employees as some that we have interacted with were positive. A lot of people we met there were spending the day at other melia resorts which you can get passes to. All I can say is don’t believe the pictures and reviews posted, we couldn’t wait to get home. We’ve been to Cuba 8 times and this by far was the worst resort we have ever been to.…
We arrived at night and were given an upgrade for a room on the lagoon which we were hoping to get from all the wonderful reviews of this resort. Every day was delightful for us from the first moment we woke up and saw the beautiful surroundings out our patio door and also the wonderful sunsets before we went to sleep. Every meal was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. We spent most of our days by the pool in a shady area where we could pull our chairs out for the sun and back under the palm tree when it became too intense. The staff were very pleasant and were always busy making sure are needs were looked after at all times. Extremely clean hotel..staff washing floors in buffett area after every meal. If your planning a vacation where you can relax and treat yourself to the time away from home book this tranquil location you wont be disappointed!!! Next time I will be sure to book the ride to the beach on the horses as I only saw them the last day we were there...See you next year melia cayo coco...from carmen and david.…
The resort was definitely of the highest rating for Cuba; 5 star. The service was exceptional and the food was high quality and presented well in the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Great entertainment nightly, however not necessarily geared towards the “disco/nightlife” concept, but rather more relaxing and romantic music. A lot of returning clients, and with good reason. Clean facilities with great attention to detail. Myself and my husband would definitely return and recommend to others. Great beach, with amazing snorkeling.
"We all very much loved the premium lagoon rooms this year. Worth the upgrade. Quiet, beautiful sunsets and sunrises."Read full review
