Every time I return it feels like I’m coming “home”. Every time I leave, I leave part of my heart. I just got back from Memories Flamenco Beach Resort a little over 2 weeks ago and as always we had a BLAST!! I was there last November however going in May the days are longer and weather is HOTTER which I prefer!!! It was amazing to see many repeat guests there I met from my November trip ... this speaks volumes!! I go to Cuba for the beaches, the people, so I don't have to cook or clean, to relax, make memories, laugh and that's what I got!! I need to shout out the amazing staff, I can’t THANK YOU all enough: @ErnestoAguilar @GiovanniDiaz @JorgeNolasco @DailenSalazar @MichelOtero @YenyConsuegra @YusnielGarcia @YanelaMayeaAlvarez @Gustavo @Orlando#1 @Omar @Yoyo to name a few that have gone above and beyond to make this a phenomenal trip, from the moment we got off the bus (Yeny) to the ambassadors dinner, the repeat guest dinner, the special dinners (Jorge & Gio). The food and service was first class as always! We stayed in Block 2 which I LOVE!!! The beach view is breathtaking, close to pools, resto’s and lobby. Room was clean and fresh towels daily and fridge stocked daily! I did not notice any shortages on resort as I ate and drank like a QUEEN! I highly recommend Memories Flamenco to everyone. Everything was like I expected and EVEN MORE!! ALWAYS so hard to leave but I will see you all soon my Cuban family!…
This place has a lot of positives and despite the pandemic they do their best to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. But they have a lot of misses that can make you not enjoy your stay. If you can oversee them, you can have a good time here. The Beach, The Resort and The People: The beach is the highlight and the best part of this resort. White sandy beaches with crystal clear waters that you can easily wade into without getting too deep for at least a KM. During our stay there were two days where the water did get a bit rough which churned a bit fo seaweed and brought it into the shore. But this cleared out by the second day and the water cleared out. The resort is very outdated and requires quite a few upgrades. But the whole property was kept clean and well maintained. This included the beach and pool areas. You can easily nitpick here, but you can overlook them. This is also probably one of the few Cuban resorts I have been to that is quite lively and filled with entertainment. Whether it's a pool party, a band in the lounge lobby or the evening shows in the theatre, there is some kind of entertainment. If you are looking for a quiet stay this resort might not be your thing. The people who work here are always looking to help you or to keep you entertained. They are always greeting you with a smile and will always be helpful. Just be mindful you are in Cuba and this country has gone through a lot and these people are doing their best to make sure you have a good time. Food and Alcohol: You are not coming to Cuba for the culinary experience. This was the case before the pandemic, this is even more so now. You have the buffet serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the poolside snack bar serving hotdogs/ham sandwiches and freshly made pizza, the poolside BBQ grill and finally the a la carte restaurant. There is plenty of food between all these options and you can enjoy them as long as you are OK with salt and pepper being the only flavors. As a South Asian who loves my spicy food, I actually enjoyed the food here. If you really want flavor, bring your own spices and sauces. Meat is mostly chicken and pork, with limited beef. And everywhere there was beef I found it overcooked and chewy. There are plenty of options for vegetarians if you are creative. Vegans, you are out of luck here. The best part of the buffet food is the dessert. There are plenty of options which include fresh cut fruits. Alcohol is limited in this resort. You are limited to beer, rum, and house red and white. Cocktails are limited to pineapple and orange juice. A cocktail like Mojito is a rare find due to some of the ingredients. You can find them in limited capacity or limited spots. If you get a bit creative, you can make the alcohol choices work. Rooms and Accommodation: This is where I had my biggest disappointment. The first is and this is not a negative but something you should expect coming here. If you arrive early at the resort, do not expect to get your room before 4PM, no matter what they promise you. If you are a large group with multiple rooms, expect delays in getting your room. But on the flipside, you can secure your luggage with the concierge and use the resort amenities while your room is being prepared. We got a room in building 4, which was right next to the beach which I loved. The room was big and spacious and could easily accommodate a family of 4 - 6. The room, while outdated, was kept clean and cleaners came in every day to clean it up. But this is where the good ended. The biggest problem I had was with the plumbing and draining, especially with the toilet which would not flush very well. This problem was evident on day one. The hotel concierge took 3 attempts to send someone to look at it. Even after fixing the toilet the flushing problem was there. The problem looked like there was a backed-up drainage rather than an individual toilet issue. So, we had to flush the toilet multiple times to clear anything. And there were times no matter how many times you would flush the problem would not go away. This could be a big issue if you are a large family staying in a single room. Also, the mattress was not comfortable at all, and the pillow was no thicker than a quilt. At this stage, instead of trying to fix these issues and waste our vacation, we decided to live with this issue and manage it. This room situation is why I am giving this resort a 3-star which could have easily gained a 4-star from me. My recommendations for anyone who comes here: 1. Check your room's plumbing and drainage as soon as you check in and see if you are able to manage this. 2. If you want to enjoy the food, I recommend skipping a meal, which would make you want to eat and enjoy the other meals. 3. Bring your own sauces and spices if you are someone critical of food flavors. Vegans make your own arrangement for your food needs.…
In March of 2022, I visited this resort. This is without a doubt the WORST resort I have ever visited. Here are the pros and cons of my stay at this terrible resort: PROS: -The beach is basically the only pro at this resort. CONS: -Service: the employees were terrible at taking care of us.Customer service employees need to be trained on how to serve customers with a smile rather than as if they are a burden. For example, our room had been infected with mosquitos from the day we arrived, and we were lacking a few things in our room, such as toilet paper, so we went to the front desk, where the women working there couldn't care less about our demands. We were only asking for bug spray, and they stared at us as if we were asking for something difficult to obtain...How can a resort not have mosquito spray on hand to spray all the mosquitoes that are all over the place? Finally, the only way we were able to get the spray was through the amazing cleaning lady who was cleaning our room. -Buffet and Bar: I knew Cuba wasn't the place to go if I wanted to eat a feast every day, but the buffet was even worse than I had anticipated. Not only did they run out of eggs and bread, but they were also serving lunch food like meatballs, mashed potatoes, and burgers for breakfast. Furthermore, the pasta bar would always run out of spaghetti within 20 minutes of opening.Wine, beer, rum, and juice were pretty much the only drinks offered at the bars. During our 7-day trip, pina coladas were only available for two days. If you're expecting hard liquor like tequila or vodka, don't even bother. -Snack Bar: You'd assume that if you don't like the food at the buffet, you could head to the snack bar, but they run out of food there as well. We'd go there every day, and on some days, we'd have to wait 30 minutes or more for a waiter to come over and serve us. Even when they came, they seemed rushed and as if they didn't want to be there. AS IF THEY WERE FORCED TO SERVE US. Also, they always treated Cuban guests like queens and kings, giving them whatever they wanted and large portions of food, while they only gave us foreign tourists the absolute minimum. Also at the snack bar, they didn't have buns for a few days, so they served the patties without the buns and called it a burger.…
From the moment we walk in you know your home. Great place to be. From the room to the beach it’s amazing. If anyone wants to have a relaxing vacation, with the friendliest, amazing staff. This is your place. From the staff at the front desk to the guys on the beach, you will not find anyone better. Big shout out to my family in Cayo Coco Yurita Medina, Limay Jimenez, Grabriel Morrel, Roberto Damaso, Yusdailys Green Wilson, Yayier Matos,Noilen Accosta and Ismael ( beach) we thank you again for making our vacation the best. Until the next time, ( and there will be a 9 th time) stay safe and big hugs.
I want to start off this review by saying that I am one month late writing it. My partner and I had such a wonderful time here. The hospitality is unmatched. The pool and beach are beautiful. The food isn’t that great but that’s to be expected. (the breakfast was always really good though!) I want to point out three lovely ladies who work at the buffet. Their names are Nerida. Yenny (Jenny) and Julie. They are the sweetest and most helpful people that we met. My partner and I got engaged here, and these ladies came to find out about it and they would set up special tables for us decorated beautifully with flowers and wine. We are so grateful for this experience here. (The hospitality is seriously unmatched!) The rooms are great, although a little outdated. But nice and spacious and super clean! The staff who cleaned our room (unfortunately we don’t have a name) she always did such a lovely job and she was also very helpful to us. I also want to point out the ladies who were at the resort who helped my fiancé to organize the proposal. They did such a wonderful job in helping my fiancé plan out the whole thing and we are very grateful for that. Not only the hotel staff but the place where we got engaged. We went off the resort to a restaurant where the restaurant staff who helped to organize everything. We will definitely be coming back to Memories Flamenco (and we will recommend this place to everyone) We are so grateful to all the staff that we met there, they were so kind and so helpful! 😊…
